well to be fair, if we're going to be sensible then neither of these cars make any sense unless you're tracking or live in Germany and have gas money to spare. 430i is more than fast enough for an every day car and even 420i (around 7 sec 0 - 60) is enough for 99% of the people.
reminds me of the E92 335i and M3. A great car that was as good as its big brother. Esp after remap etc. I had an 08 black E92 335i 370bhp 500nm 0to60 in 4.4secs remap, and an 07 Le mans blue E93 335i 370bhp 500nm remap 0to60 in 4.8 secs. I almost died in Nov 2018, as a disabled British Army Veteran. Sold the E92 to buy convertible as never owned one. wanted one before I die. Was a bad buy. So was 05 E60 530i 231 bhp after. Found a nice later 05 E60 530i 258i. I had a beautiful graphite grey E90 330i on 06 before the black E92 335i. So wanted a stop gap car to last 5yrs til loan paid. As lost loads due to the two bad cars. Due to covid and bad cars had to sell last 05 530i day before lockdown. Stuck with 21,000 loan with only 1500 left after loses. Got 6months loan holiday last yr. Had about 3800 for a cheap stop gap til new loan in 5 yrs. Wanted E92 330i, as never owned the 272bhp model, and a nice car between my E90 330i/E60 530i, and E92 and E93 335is. Couldn't find one, found a lovely 06 Audi A4 B7 3.2 FSI DSG S.Line convertible in Sept. Paid just under 3grand, but hoping to swap for E92 330i Dsg Msport, as someone might want a convertible in summer. A fool can dream. Fingers crossed

@@lewiscannon8213 It's comparative though. £55k BMW M440i vs £76k BMW M4... 20k difference and it's not that far off the cost of a 430i but you get a hell of a lot more car. Yes BMW are expensive cars but the value for money is a sports car which is competing with an m4 for 20 grand less. On top of that if someone picks this up used in a years time it will probably be in the low 40k region with less than 10k miles.

I have an M340xi and the main issues I know you were dealing with is those shitty Bridgestone all season run flats. I put some ps4s on my car and it totally brought the car to life!
I was going to say that the handling circuit comparison here was probably skewed by the different tyres - glad somebody beat me to it. Something I've always wondered about with run-flats is their much stiffer sidewalls, which is something that I might almost crave in my own (extremely ordinary) car, with tyre shoulders suffering terrible damage from the plague of roundabouts in my area of the West Midlands. I understand that run-flats are also more expensive, but I'd love it if tyre manufacturers could build more durable shoulders into 'normal' tyres. Of course that would mean my front tyres lasting twice as long and tyre manufacturers wouldn't want that happening.
Hello,Joe!! I bought the m440i(2022),in Spain(Pays Basque country). Yes,really a great car. I worked very hard for him!!! Excuse me,my English is not very good. Follow you. Juan Luis.🤝🐳
The 440i makes the M4 look a bit silly if you ask me. It's cheaper, it's lighter, it sounds better and the big grill actually (almost) works. Much better looking than the M4, not that that would be hard
I drove a new m4 and m440i back to back. I loved the m4 other than the horrid exhaust note. The m4 is way faster stock on stock. The b58 exhaust note and saving tons of money made me decide on the m440. A simple tune flash and the b58 will smoke the m4! Either way both cars are amazing
Definitely got the 3/440i on the shopping list, if they’d been on the same tyres that 20k difference in price/performance could have really been called into question!
Awesome video Joe! Great to see both of these cars on a nice technical bit of track head to head, very impressed by how the 440i holds up actually. Fantastic production quality as ever, keep them coming!
Bro that M4 is something different. Despite the power increasing significantly I think it’s actually the chassis that’s the cars best feature, it will do the slider stuff but from what I’ve seen it looks like the most focused version of the M3/M4 ever. Seems like it’s inherited the M5’s magic handling ability. To be honest it’s the M2 I’m waiting to see, I’m hoping that will ship to the UK with a manual option too.
Tim (shmee150 ) seems happy to let Joe drive most of his collection, which I also take as a tribute to Joe's driving skills ,and knowing when not to push too hard and run out of talent.😀
Brilliant...it just shows that if you haven’t got M4 Money it doesn’t mean you can’t have M4 fun. Great video. The sort that the people pleasers just won’t do. And credit to TRL allowing for throwing the little brother up in battle!
Guys those drag races are so much fun. Impressed with the 440i, but will keep my f82 cp for the moment 😉. I saw a new M4 at my local bmw dealer today and can say the f82 with icon leds and dark cp alloys looks better, at the moment.
Another great video from Joe, really enjoyed your m440i videos. Enough to buy one. Great car for the money, obviously not a "true" m-car, but more than most people will ever want/need (unless you have access to autobahns). My 5th BMW, and the closest to my old 2006 e46. Topped out with all of the performance options including the ps4s tires, wide in the back, with extra coolers. Only drive it in "sport" or "sport plus" mode. Really fun to drive! Killed the "fake" engine noise, gesture control, and minimum steering assist. Oh, forgot, until you see the extended shadow option on the Safire black paint, don't knock the grill, it's sharp!
Hmm, interesting, wonder how much of the 2 seconds was down to tyres. This circuit really exposed the weight of both, pitching and rolling. Different cars but would be interesting to see the M4 against something like a Cayman.
Bridgestone runflats vs Michelin Pilot Sport 4S... Yeah, that's a pretty big difference, I've run both of them on my more humble 320d M Sport and PS4 S is a massive upgrade, significantly improved grip with much better steering feel/feedback. Went from a bit understeer prone when pushed and slightly numb steering to a really precise pointy front end with good feedback and you can lean on the tyres so much harder before they start to lose grip.
Wait for the AWD M4.... chuck on an evolve tune and you've got an animal! Baffles me why anyone would buy the rwd version with the x drive coming, especially since you can have it in rwd mode if you fancy a play... best of both worlds!
Nice to see that You had such a good fun. Personally I think that this track is simply to small to show real difference between those cars, bigger track bigger difference favoring M3. Anyway i still think that m340i is best available daily car at this moment.
The M4 Comp. is a monster, credit where it's due however, that M440i is genuinely quick! A stage 1 ECU remap, swap those Bridgestone with Michelin PS4S & that M440i will transform into an absolute serial killer!
Disappointed with the M4/M3... the M440i/M340i sounds better, seems to be more confortable and in price, here in Colombia, the M3/M4 almost doubles the price...
@@mammothfire things and opinions can change/switch quickly. I just bought an e92 manual, and although is a very nice car, feels a bit old and the adjustment is not that good. Until the new G80 XDrive lands to Colombia, I'm going to enjoy this car and hopefully make the switch in the first semester of next year. Exchange rate is awful, I mean things can get 3, 4 or 5 times more expensive in local currency, so the effort to achieve one of these nice cars is enormous. Each country has its up and downsides... I can drive 250 km/h easily without relative restrictions, but the price (in money) is awful, just nasty man. Oxide Grey with Tartufo seats, M825 wheels and a sunroof would be my choice... Regards from Colombia!
Love this Joe. Top 5 most viewed videos on your channel within 2 weeks I reckon, such a current topic and many(well off) people will be considering which to go for! Happy for you when these come together like this one!
Great video Joe, interesting as always! But I think that the handling circuit lap time has been heavily conditioned by the tyres difference: Bridgestone Turanza are no match for PS4S, the amount of understeer speaks clearly! And I guess the size is also different, bigger in the M4... It’s a pity the two cars weren’t fitted at least with the same tyre, if not the same size... the lap times would have been much more comparable, with differences only due to the cars’ intrinsic differences (S58/B58 , RWD/XDrive and weight distribution) and all in all it would have been a bit more interesting (and fair for the M440i) comparison! 😉
The M3/4 with AWD is going to be insane! I believe Car Wow did the 0-60 in 3.6, ¼ mile in 11.6 in dry conditions, on the RWD car. The 340/440 is impressive, however.
where can i find that front license plate mount on the m440i? been looking everywhere for something to put on the grille and i think that looks the best
In my earlier years, I was a little constrained financially and thought to myself - 40i anything is the best bang for your buck, which is true in many cases, but I after jumping out of two 40is (X3 40i xdrive and 540i xdrive), the residual value or how bad the residual value of my 540i was a wake up call (50% after 4.5 year). If I went with the M car, I would actually "save" quite a bit of more money at the end (when the next trade happens) compared to "saving" quite a bit at the beginning when getting into a 40i vehicle. I truly think one should think ahead about the resale value before making the decision. M4 isn't far off away from a loaded 440i. For the same reason, I started owning Porsche now. But certainly will consider the M3 LCI models.
I think I'll keep my 2021 M440i! For everyday off the line, the value is definitely not with the M4. Loving every minute when I get behind the wheel every day
After watching various reviews from Joe I ended up with an M340d saloon in mineral grey with shadow line pack and pan roof and I must say it looks amazing and it’s one serious bit of kit also it’s my first BMW with the adaptive dampers and they work a treat on daily my commute and when you press the sport button there just on point amazing car for me.
It’d be interesting with a tune, intake, better rubber and an exhaust. Let’s call it 5k in upgrades. Considering the 30k price difference, a few small mods shouldn’t make a difference but I have a feeling it would make an incredible difference.
I think it would be nice next time that you use the same tires on both cars because the P4S on the M4 are really superior on grip than the bridgestone on the 440.
Got the F32 (previous gen) 440iX with 6MT and the MPPSK package and it's been such an amazing daily so far. Consumption is decent when I can manage to not have a heavy foot (which is hard to do because flooring it is so fun). With a MHD stage1 tune it's even faster :D Plus if you love some RWD fun, xDelete is a fun mod as it allows you to turn xDrive on and off on-demand (just requires a 2min flash)
Hope you enjoy this one guys! Let me know if you want to see more track battles like this one, we did film more on the day, they're coming to the channel very soon... 🎬

Tim (shmee150 ) seems happy to let Joe drive most of his collection, which I also take as a tribute to Joe's driving skills ,and knowing when not to push too hard and run out of talent.😀
@@brianiswrong Yeah Tim is a legend for letting/trusting me with his cars over the years 👌
Hey BBC! Need to hire Joe, Top Gear's been rubbish since Jeremy, Hamster, and Captain Slow. Build a new crew around Joe!
Brilliant...it just shows that if you haven’t got M4 Money it doesn’t mean you can’t have M4 fun. Great video. The sort that the people pleasers just won’t do. And credit to TRL allowing for throwing the little brother up in battle!
That M4 is THE spec! Lovely dark blue, lovely (not black) wheels and lovely inside. Monster monster!
What a mega video mate! Loved this!
Thanks legend! Will have to do something together at this location in the summer mate 👊👊
Lovely and unique clip. Great to see Tony taking part and Jack off course!
Guys those drag races are so much fun. Impressed with the 440i, but will keep my f82 cp for the moment 😉. I saw a new M4 at my local bmw dealer today and can say the f82 with icon leds and dark cp alloys looks better, at the moment.
Awesome video to kick off the weekend! 👍
Hope you enjoy it 🏁
Another great video from Joe, really enjoyed your m440i videos.
Underrated channel.
Wow!! I was crapping myself just watching the race!! Good show guys!!
Cool small track in the middle of 🌾 farmland 👍🏻! Can’t wait to see the M4 with M xDrive💨!
Excellent content Mr Joe!🔥
Thank you 🙏
That's more like it. Fast BMWs and Tony. The world makes sense again
That looked like a lot of fun, shocking how some people still have fun during lockdown 😎🤣
That bloody S58 power house is just ridiculous. When you thought the performance on the previous M4 couldn’t be beaten 🤯
Love this style of head to head. Especially head to head of m vs m specish. Good work Joe.
Great video Joe and it does my soul good to see the views on this by the time I got to watch it and your sub count flying up.
Thanks buddy, yeah I can't complain at the moment, channel is going real well 👌👊❤️
A remap on that m440i would be such a close race between these 2
Great way to make a living, driving and reviewing cars that the vast majority of viewers can only dream of owning.
Wait for the AWD M4.... chuck on an evolve tune and you've got an animal! Baffles me why anyone would buy the rwd version with the x drive coming, especially since you can have it in rwd mode if you fancy a play... best of both worlds!
Definitely the best RUclipsr of all time
who said that?
Me
@@halahabib4100 ok...
Lol
Nice to see that You had such a good fun. Personally I think that this track is simply to small to show real difference between those cars, bigger track bigger difference favoring M3. Anyway i still think that m340i is best available daily car at this moment.
Joe's driving is amazing
Yes Joe, the track could move your channel to the next level. :)
Thanks man, unfortunately can't afford to use it too regularly... 🏁
That was great, M440i is a beast but M4 is another level! Well done lads.
The M4 Comp. is a monster, credit where it's due however, that M440i is genuinely quick!
A stage 1 ECU remap, swap those Bridgestone with Michelin PS4S & that M440i will transform into an absolute serial killer!
The video changed completely for me, when I heard what tires are on the M440. No surprise you had those problems on the handling course, Joe !
They come on the M440i, I'm comparing stock cars, very simple really.
Respect!
That M440i runs really strong against a proper *M* Car...
😎👍🏼
Very nice video well made. my m4 comp is arriving, excited!!
Joe: "BMWs are all about good old understeer"
Also Joe: "Oh! There's some understeer there"
Gotta love the usual youtube drag race video and the actual drag race doesnt take place intol 10 mins in
Disappointed with the M4/M3... the M440i/M340i sounds better, seems to be more confortable and in price, here in Colombia, the M3/M4 almost doubles the price...
lol what are you on about..? You might need to see a specialist about that mate
Both are exactly on the Line in Public for DRIVERS ...
Tony is drag racing like he is driving the thing to the south of France with the kids in the back XD
😹😹😹😹
Love this Joe. Top 5 most viewed videos on your channel within 2 weeks I reckon, such a current topic and many(well off) people will be considering which to go for! Happy for you when these come together like this one!
So much fun! Thoroughly enjoyed this one folks.
M4 did great! It also walks down the rs6 awd. So yeah, the awd g82 will be insaneeee.
Loved watching that, both fantastic cars but would love to see what the M4 xdrive can do
Faster on launch, slower on lap time.
Picking up my M440i GC in a month, excited as hell :)
M440I bumper cover design looks far more balanced than the M4. That’s a problem.
Huge problem! I wish they'd make the m4 have a little more road presence
Really enjoyed this and stands out from all the other new M3/M4 content out there. Great work Joe and Tony.
Loving every minute when I get behind the wheel every day
M440i Xdrive is better Motor B58
M440i is value for money as you said.... Good comparison Joe. Well done. 👌
A fair comparison but neither cars made for a go cart track.
Do love the track content though Joe. Good to see Tony driving.
Joe can driver. This channel is really really underrated. This M4 Comp is impressive. BMW did a very good job here.
Another quality comparison, that M4 Comp is nuts🥜🥜🥜 Can’t wait for the AWD to arrive!!
After watching various reviews from Joe I ended up with an M340d saloon in mineral grey with shadow line pack and pan roof and I must say it looks amazing and it’s one serious bit of kit also it’s my first BMW with the adaptive dampers and they work a treat on daily my commute and when you press the sport button there just on point amazing car for me.
tony is just chilling in his m440, when he was in the m4 with 1 oversteer, he is toast :)
I wonder if Joe left foot brakes on the handling circuit! The trail braking looked amazing, especially in the M4
Favourite RUclipsr back again with some great content
Love it! Grinning the whole time. Awesome comparo, Joe!!
Reviewers: Well, I actually like the frontend
Also Reviewers: Buys it only in dark
😂
Neither of these cars are ours, we both have M3/4's coming that aren't black/dark.
It’d be interesting with a tune, intake, better rubber and an exhaust. Let’s call it 5k in upgrades. Considering the 30k price difference, a few small mods shouldn’t make a difference but I have a feeling it would make an incredible difference.
Can you get the 379hp 440i remapped..?? If yes who is recommended thanks
The soon to come x-drive will be day and night with the grip...mega stuff Joe thanks mate 🤘🏼
That is next level. Great video. It was a lot of fun watching you having fun.
Now that drag was fun to watch!
Love this! This is the video I’ve been intrigued to see with that comparison. Always love a bit of TRL as well!
With a MHD stage1 tune it's even faster :D
Plus if you love some RWD fun, xDelete is a fun mod as it allows you to turn xDrive on and off on-demand (just requires a 2min flash)
A track battle with a tire upgrade on the 440 would be interesting!
Can't wait to see the new M4 X- Drive shoot off the line in a few months time.
Fantastic joe keep the videos like this coming! What a way to kick off doing drag races on the channel! 💥💥💥
Brilliant job mate, love the format and what a pair of cars 👌🏻
Big Speed , thank you💪
Brilliant, great seeing Tony in it.
