- I found these Prismacolor pencils on Ebay for a SUPER cheap price....and once I got them I don't think they're legit. Today we're going to test these out and compare them to the original.

They're not fake. Here in Mexico Prismacolor has a line for school purposes. They're not professional pencils but good to take to school.

Yeah I was confused too since I am from Puerto Rico and they sell both of the prismacolor premier and the school purpose ones, they are actually not that bad but they cant be rip offs if they sell both the normal and student prismacolors
We have these too in the states lol they are called scholastics and they are also made by prismacolor but they aren’t really for professional use

Yea she used the junior I’m from Mexico too those are for school and she actually used profesional, in Venezuela they have a difficult situation so probably the company doesn’t has enough money to get a more quality pencils
Its because Mexico has 2 brands for school pencils, the ones that Rae used (that is also descontinued) and the Junior that have a better quality

I’m from Venezuela, i left Venezuela about 5 months ago, and I’m gonna say
THOSE ARE LEGIT cuz they sell these all over venezuela, and they’re real, they are just different, the component and stuff, but they are made by PRISMACOLOR. I know they look weird and stuff, but the package is totally real, and remember those are not premiere while the ones she used are premiere :/ and in Venezuela the Guality is not the best now because of the situation 😅 Hope this helped you 💕

She didn’t colors it the same. In the first one she gradually adds the color (which is traditional how you layer colored pencil) in the second drawing she pressed very hard right away.
True, but maybe she pressed hard on the second one because the pigment wasnt that great and she had to push hard..? Thats what i think ☺️

She didn’t drawl the second strawberry same as the first. First berry she drew in the highlights prior to the red color. Not the same for the second.
To be fair on the real prismacolor drawing you coloured around the highlights and seeds...
I think it’s because she knows it would layer anyway and just wanted to use a bit less of the pencil? That’s all I can think of.

More info: People actually from South America have said they have seen these, but they're usually color wrapped which these are not, so they could indeed be a knock off. I still haven't heard back from Prismacolor if their South American branch has the same standards as the Mexican produced. If these are legit which I'm getting a 50/50 on, these are their student grade so they're not as good as the premier. Of course I'm not knocking on Venezuela or their current crisis. Last thing I want is this video to come off that way. I understand why the Venezuelan branch would reduce costs! As more info comes in I'll keep you updated! Thank you to all my South American viewers for your help!! 💚
SuperRaeDizzle I've saw that and I just researched it
My friend got similar ones like these from Colombia and she swears they are from the same company. They are dirt cheap down there too, I think they have another factory down there, but I'm not sure if those are knock offs as well. However, they have wrappings that match the color of the pencil around them so they might be different from the ones you reviewed. Hope that at least helps!

They are totally fake! I bought that same package of prismacolor in Office Depot and they were about $100, they were wrapped in the same color and weren't naked. Also, those colors I think are for school kids

_One time, I ordered some Prismacolors on Amazon, and everything was all fine and dandy until I compared some colors to my older set of Prismacolors... the black and white colors didn't match... they found a way to_ *_MESS UP BLACK AND WHITE._*

Shoelatte they probably either weren't as pigmented or had a tint like the white could've been almost like a cream and the black could've been blue or greenish .w.
raye z majority of the time the counterfeit colors will have a darker or lighter white and black because the can't the the correct color. So majority of the time, white is a light grey, and black is a dark grey.

Just for the record, those are not counterfeit, I didn't know you guys didn't have that 'version', but it is called the scholar version, you know, the cheap version of prismacolor for students (like for kids and stuff), that's why I think it has the colorful package and the tucan, but yeah, totally legit here in Mexico, and the actual cool Prismacolor are known as the "Prismacolor Premier", serious stuff, and those are like 10x more expensive than the scholar ones. PD: The actual ones we have in Mexico looks exactly like they are shown in the package, they are not 'naked' as yours, so yeah, maybe you got some fake ones haha but at the actual retail price of the legit ones xD

Hi! I'm Venezuelan, and those are not fake -- turns out, we are actually going through a crisis, and because the dye is very expensive, many companies are starting to make "eco-friendly" products, which means, that products like those color pencils are lower in quality and doesn't have color. Other products like cereal boxes don't have color as well, just the outline of the character and the name and blah blah blah. The colors that come in the original package (the plastic case) are VERY expensive, and I've seen these colors before. And yeah, the quality is very crappy. Not like the ones they sold before here. I have the ones in the plastic case and I have that new version and I can clearly see a difference. Though, it was still interesting to see someone else try them!
Therefore, they might not be fake, they're just Venezuelan lmao. There's still a chance that they're fake because it's a possibility, but my theory is that they're just from here and like I said, these products have lessened in quality. I'm sorry if my English is bad, so, yeah :'v D:

8:24 I think why this Silver color didn’t work is because silver is more of a cool grey, and red is a really warm color. So adding a cool grey on to a dark green would look a lot lighter than the green. But adding a cool grey on to a lighter red would overtake the red despite it layering okay.

Nice video. It really bugs me though, that she didn't layer the real prismacolours, and left the highlights blank and later coloured those highlights white, while she simply coloured the non-prisma colour strawberry completely in red and THEN (tried) to add the highlights.
On my monitor, the strawberry was orange.
Im Venezuelan and they are not fake prismacolors. Years ago, we had the ones you showed with the plastic packaging, but since we are in a very bad economic situation, every brand cuts their budge so they can sell in a price people can afford. Thats why they changed the box where they came in, they are "naked", and their quality is worse. Hope I helped!

I’m not trying to hate at all, but no offense but anyone can tell, professional or not, that you went about the two drawings COMPLETELY differently. You lightly colored the first one around all the highlights whereas you literally scribbled really hard on the second one. The fact that you didn’t even give the counterfeit ones a chance kinda makes me lowkey annoyed. Not trying to hate on you or your channel, just saying for future reference maybe.

Besides these colors are not even “counterfeit”. They’re legit, just a different line. These are not the professional ones.

To be fair, while the colored pencils are clearly inferior, you didn't consider all possible techniques. The first and most obvious is drawing from light to dark - dark layers on top of the lighter colors, but the lighter colors don't layer on top of the darker ones. This is common in other mediums, so it's a legitimate technique. The second and more unconventional option would be to rub away the pigment. It comes off easily, so you should be able to lighten heavily pigmented areas/colors by rubbing (perhaps with a blender) until that point becomes lighter, using a smaller eraser to completely remove the pigment when you want the harsh highlights.
They're absolutely not prismacolors, true, but you could have still salvaged them as usable art supplies.

@@copyrightstrike6949 well she didn't give a good review she wanted them to be fake so she made them look fake but those are supposed to usually be used as a something for SCHOOLKIDS. she was OBVIOUSLY pushing harder on the "real" prismacolors and waaaaay lighter on the "fake" prismacolors also she didn't let the pencils dry so the were still wet. She layers the "real" prismacolors light first then dark but on the "fake" prismacolors she does dark first and light after she also only tried one method she caked on the "fake" prismas but she didn't cake on the "real" prismas so yes I think she did not give a real review

Yeah, they are authentic, I live in the Dominican Republic, and they advertise us that brand, but is for kids, those are not the premier Prismacolors but they are legit.

You kinda cheated because with the “actual” Prisma colors, you went in lightly, then worked on the color to get it darker. On the “fake” ones, which are student level colored pencils, you just went in dark and hard. It’s harder to blend when you color harshly, which is what you did. You basically made them look worse than what they are. They probably aren’t such a good quality because of the crisis going on in Venezuela
If you haven’t watched rae for a long time she has been doing that for awhile and I thought i would get hate for commenting something like this 🤭

Shes heavy handed plus the other pencils weren't as pigmented so she probably had to press harder
She had the press harder since the pigment is light so she had to press down
She also didn’t color the space red where the white was gonna be with the real ones..
I don't know if this is the case, but if they were made in Venezuela then they might be naked due to budget cuts and for them to be cheaper? Venezuela is having a lot of economical trouble and they started printing the cereal boxes with grey ink and plain carton, I don't know if these have any relation but I just thought that could be the case? (They might be less quality brcause of the same reason too?**)
Killjoy Lucy I live in Venezuela and that might be the case in some states, but in the state I live they are as good as the original prismacolors however they are extremely expensive

In venezuela, usually packages and products are not colored or made with cardboard because it costs less money that way

Yes, yes, they are clearly bad pencils, but I have to say a couple of things. Firstable, why did you press so hard on the paper when you were coloring with the "fake" prismas and didn't do the same with real prismas? If you press really hard, it's difficult to blend and layer even with the best pencils in the world. And the thing you could probably do to get highlights on the strawberry was erasing completely certain areas, then applying a light layer of red and of course some white... But don't get me wrong, it is only a supposition of mine, when a pencil is really bad, maybe it's not even worth spending time on finding workarounds 😂
By the way, I don't think they are really fake... Counterfeiting pencils wouldn't be as rewarding as to counterfeit other things
