It's all a big misunderstanding... (Personally I'm hoping more for something along the lines of abduction followed by some convoluted legal procedure where Immy is indentured either because she's completely unfamiliar with intergalactic law and has no equivalent to a public defender, or cannot be returned to Earth for some reason and the capitalist overlords of space can always find a use for a warm body. Perhaps the extensive sentence is because nobody is familiar enough with humans to understand their average lifespan and didn't bother to find out. Though I am also reminded of a line from "Men in Black" (1997) about how they're not supposed to have universal translators on Earth because human thought is considered a disease to the more civilized parts of the galaxy. Maybe her crime is simply "Being Human." Can't wait to find out more. 😁

I cannot get over how rich the vibes in this show are honestly. it's cute but also there is something very sinister waiting in Immy's backstory and I love it. it feels cozy while also just full or vague dread and horror.
This honestly really speaks to me about joining any new job, it really can feel like you're surrounded by a bunch of aliens who already have their own thing going. You just have to find your Vee and sort things out from there.
Oh my god yes, especially the whole “I don’t want to bother anyone” and feeling like you have to be useful or everyone will hate you. Always feeling like you have to be constantly useful makes jobs even more terrifying and exhausting than they normally are.
Immy reminds me of how I was three years ago when I started my first big job out of college, coming from retail and being in a constant state of panic that I wasn't being productive enough from the jump 😔 it gets better

Amazing animation and voice acting, obviously, but I also love how realistic Immy’s struggles are even in this totally wild situation. The visual gag of the planets rolling over to reveal glasses and antennae is so good, and that's just like... one of the *hundred* gags you've packed in there. I love this show.
Vee is such a refreshing mentor character. She's supportive without infantilizing Immy, validating her concerns and misgivings while reminding her that nobody expects her to suddenly be okay with everything. ...sure can't wait until her inevitable heel turn...
I love the, "Huh? What do you mean you're doing great!" when she clearly hears the slime guy shouting constant curse words in their faces. Customer support really is the same no matter where you are!
i absolutely love how subtly expressive u animate each character and how many little tidbits you hide around like i just noticed how vee’s antennas move around with her expressions and there was that fella in the background who touched the amnesia/mustache orb also those little EXTRA OOMPH scenes you do, like immy’s 4.6 second long neurovision break and clayre throwing the little guy, are always SUCH a treat and my favorite parts!!! i love all these goobers already and im so so excited for the next eppy :)))
Feels like this is just a 5 part mini-series that will be bundled together into a actually pilot for an actual animated series deepblueink will make at some point in the future (idk for sure but this is still giving me pilot vibes)
Loved the BDG classic manic-corpo-agressive, and really enjoying the other vocal performances as well. You've clearly poured a ton of love into this and it shows. Also loved the bit about self worth not being tied to usefulness, despite what many would have you think.
Kip wearing Gub’s name plate is a wonderful detail. I also really like that he didn’t immediately foist the job he doesn’t like onto Immy. “I hate my job but I hate the idea of someone else doing it more” is an absolute vibe.
Absolutely PHENOMENAL episode! Getting to meet the other crew a bit more in-depth. In Clayre's defense, DeeDee DOES warn us not to approach these workers from behind. Parking validation or not. I just kept laughing the whole way through this. The refund, the YOU'RE A TOOL! And while I want to learn more about Bucket, him just being this like...background character who gets one little bit per episode is kinda working! So unless I'm reading it wrong, when gub puts the neurolink back on at the end of that scene, we're no longer in his perspective like we were at the start. So what we're seeing is his experience being cast to the screen behind him. What I'm getting at is, in addition to the horror she was experiencing directly, Immy also unknowingly had her subconscious displayed on a big flatscreen in front of her co-workers.
Late to bed and early to wake doesn't make my sleep schedule great, but nevertheless, it'll all surmount due to how much fun I'll have with Deep Space Discounts.

The speech at 5:35 literally made me cry. As a neurodivergent person with social anxiety who has a hard time reading social cues, it’s really easy for me to feel like I’m bothering or being a burden on my friends. I feel like I’m making them go out of their way to accommodate me. Thank you DBI for making this show, the writing is honestly outstanding and scenes like this make me feel seen in a way that not a lot of other media does. ❤

My initial comment was gonna be about picking a specific scene that I adored, but I loved so much of it I couldn't pick. It is evident just how much time, effort, and passion went into Deep Space Discounts. I am waiting with baited breath every week. I will also be leaving comments on every single episode to help with the algorithm.
I love these characters so much! They're all so unique and incredibly fun in their own ways, I seriously don't understand how you managed to make a cast that all feel so real and different from each other and somehow managed to make me absolutely love all of them! It's incredible
Well, as usual a complete knock out of the ballpark! Such a colorful cast of characters (figuratively and literally) and I love all of them! I'm on the edge of my seat for the next episode and I hope we eventually learn how Immy ended up in deep space with many many life sentences edit: also I hope that lil guy gets his parking validated one of these days!
Assuming the mental time dilation of the *Neuro-Vision* is as simple as seconds to hours for most humans, the run time of this episode would put you in there for 444 hours or 18.5 days, also known as 2.64285 weeks. *Which is* kind of a *long* time. So maybe just watch this episode a few more times instead!
I just realized Kip has been wearing Gub's nametag this whole time lol-probably so any customer who tries to complain about him will put Gub's name on the complaint form and they'll get the complaint instead!

I cannot wait to figure out what Immy's deal is, and then just realize she just has Super Anxiety. She's a spirit animal, I tell you, terrified of everything but impotent to change it at all. Thriving in spite of it.
Man, I love this show. Classic DBI thing of being worth a 2nd or 3rd rewatch due to all the background details and little nuances of how the animation meshes with the performances. The voice cast is *so good*, too.
I feel like a longer version of the theme song would be such a great bop but I also feel like if I listen to it for longer periods of time it's going to hypnotize/program me into just doing 🎶Sleep 🎶 Work 🎶 Sleep Work🎶 which would be bad because I wouldn't have time to eat and/or watch more episodes of DSD 😅😅

The speech at 5:35 literally made me cry. As a neurodivergent person with social anxiety who has a hard time reading social cues, it’s really easy for me to feel like I’m bothering or being a burden on my friends. I feel like I’m making them go out of their way to accommodate me.
Thank you DBI for making this show, the writing is honestly outstanding and scenes like this make me feel seen in a way that not a lot of other media does. ❤

Well, as usual a complete knock out of the ballpark! Such a colorful cast of characters (figuratively and literally) and I love all of them! I'm on the edge of my seat for the next episode and I hope we eventually learn how Immy ended up in deep space with many many life sentences
edit: also I hope that lil guy gets his parking validated one of these days!
Assuming the mental time dilation of the *Neuro-Vision* is as simple as seconds to hours for most humans, the run time of this episode would put you in there for 444 hours or 18.5 days, also known as 2.64285 weeks. *Which is* kind of a *long* time. So maybe just watch this episode a few more times instead!
I just realized Kip has been wearing Gub's nametag this whole time lol-probably so any customer who tries to complain about him will put Gub's name on the complaint form and they'll get the complaint instead!

Man, I love this show. Classic DBI thing of being worth a 2nd or 3rd rewatch due to all the background details and little nuances of how the animation meshes with the performances. The voice cast is *so good*, too.
