I missed these 2d side scroller games. Contra, altered beast, the old school mario games were all so great.

I just want one like Blasphemous and SOTN. Dark, cool, weapons, awesome bosses and music, variety, customization, 2D type animation. Hollow Knight is perfect. Deaths gambit afterlife is good but has a but to be desired, especially weapons and repetitive enemies and the diagonal exploration is still odd to me. Also the hollow knight esque health in blasphemous was a great touch and the dlc bosses were phenomenal.

@@casuallydreamin5006 I didn't day blasphemous had weapon variety. I was speaking generally as well as like SOTN. And whole heartedly disagree about it being shit.
@@casuallydreamin5006 the dlc bosses in blasphemous were awesome though. Highly recommend playing again just for those. They're worth it.

the 1st game reminds me a 8 bit era game, very similar concept that player going downstairs, can’t remember the title anymore, but amazed to see how far game industry goes until today and the ideas are still the same.
Blasphemous 2 still not have trailer yet but hopefully it will have soon...
I don't like the gameplay shown in Elypse (it's too fast for my taste), but those backgrounds are just perfect! It's amazing how varied this sub-genre of platformers can be, we have fast action combat, deliberate combat, melee combat, ranged combat, precision platforming and everything tou can think about!

We need a new Ender Lillie's also, that game was good, not as hard as Blasphemous or Dead Cells but score and the game as a whole was still mad good

Is the dead cells castlevania dlc still a roguelike or roguelite (whichever one it’s classified as, I don’t know the difference.)? Or does it actually play like a castlevania game? Cuz I played dead cells for awhile but those kinds of games aren’t as fun to me as playing games like SOTN for example, or hollow knight. One that I really liked was shadow complex! Anyone ever play that one?

@@bescein Well like I said, I haven't played it yet (although I do own it). I just saw the clip of Miriam introducing herself to the protagonist, so I thought she makes her first appearance here.
One tip : Put the game title in the top right corner instead. So many youtubers do what you have done and put it in the bottem left corner which causes readabiliy problems when I hover over each chapter of the video.

All these games look similar to each other, and the trend im noticing as well is that they are all so far zoomed out. Like you need a theatre screen to see your character.

It’s Awaken Astral Blade, it’s the third game he talks about. That boss comes on screen at around 3:30. I thought it was either AI or a screenshot from another game, because the thumbnail image doesn’t appear in the video with that lighting. The developer should’ve used brighter lighting cause that boss looks amazing lol.

@@salitz91 so I did some image searching. The monster is from the game Awaken: Astral Blade. But I think the thumbnail is photoshopped because that player character doesn’t look like any in the game itself.

They overhauled the main character's appearance in Astral Blade. Personally, I think the original looked better.
Oblivion Override looks cool but.... roguelike is a yellow flag.

That game Nara is strange. Everything except for the character looks good, it’s as if they put all the effort into the surroundings. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I think the main character is just as important as anything else.

MetroidVania,SoulsLike? The DS series is just a 3D MetroidVania they even simulated the slow text in Castle Vania by having slow talking NPC's.
