DeAndre is all hype. Look where he is today. Yeah, I do not even know what team he is playing right now. Old Man Duncan exposed his defense at the age of 39.
Maybe if the Lakers just kept Bynum in 2012 it wouldn't cost Mike Brown is job because he started using the dumb Princeton offense as soon as Dwight came.
@Jack Burton not true at all. Revisionist history at its finest. Saying Dwight had zero post moves is a media driven fallacy. He wasn't polished nor was he fluid or fundamental sound but he definitely was a capable post scorer. He used that sweeping jump hook often, he used a wide variety of drop steps, spin moves, and even had a 10 ft bank shot that he shot pretty frequently in Orlando. Not being a prolific lost scorer doesn't mean he didn't have the ability. U don't average 23 a game on just athleticism and no skill. Bynum was talented but not nearly as effective or efficient as Howard. Nor did his game have the same level of impact that Howard did. Howard not having competition for rebounds has nothing to do with anything. He's ALWAYS been an elite rebounder. He came into the league averting 10 and never averged any less until the last 3 seasons. He was a FAR more impacted all around defender, and impacted his teams for more than Bynum could ever dream of. Bynum never reached an mvl caliber level to even challenge howard. He had potential but he never realized it. So to say an on the come up player is better than someone willing his own team to a finals with DOMINANT play is ridiculous. People said the same shit about brook lolex being better than hiward because he had some post moves. Stop it. do I need to sen u the footage to shut this shit down? bynum wanted to problems with d12.
@Jack Burton typical of RUclips dickheads to not have anything credible to say in rebuttal, and return with childish insults, and unoriginal banter. I choose to not go back, and edit because who cares? This isn't English class. And if it was. I'd put u to shame. My writing abilities would far surpass anything your simple minded brain could comprehend. Come back with a real debating point, or Stfu forever.
Bynum has a post game that can't be stop when he's at 100% Dwight Howard is number 2 to him compared with post moves and shooting Bynum is the best center in the nba when he's healthy and isn't acting up
Its pretty amazing. Bynum wasn't a super athlete by any means, but had great feet, solid body control and amazing touch. As a 7 footer, thats all you really need to have an elite low post game. Its tragic his career was cut short by his knees and attitude because he would still likely been in his absolute prime for another 3-5 years. Man the league is already lacking quality low post big men, it is tragic that Bynum fell apart so early on.
Tom O'Connell Mr. O'Donnell... but do we really need low post pig men anymore? Look at the 2011-14 Miami Heat and 2015 Golden State Warriors... the young athleticism and fast paced run and gun style with accurate shooting and scoring would overwhelm them any day.
ImperialDecree If the Heat or the Warriors had to face a solid team with Andrew Bynum (the one we see in the video) they would have significant problems matching up and stopping him from owning the paint. The warriors were able to get away with having Draymond Green (6'7") play the 5 spot in the finals this year--with a legit scoring big man, the warriors would not have been able to play Green at that spot
He's such a load to handle down in the post. His post moves are sharp along with great touch on his jump hooks. Nothing like watch a true center play true back to the basket kind of ball.
It wasn't Bynum's knees I had a problem with (Ewing's were equally as bad and Lanier's even worse; both centers are in the HOF, by the way). It was his seriously inflated ego that got me so fed up with him as a Laker fan. The moment he said he didn't need Kareem teaching him anything anymore back in '09, I knew it was only a matter of time before he eventually turned on the Lakers franchise and ultimately the league for that matter. Bynum was the best combination of physical strength and low-post fundamentals since Artis Gilmore and all he ends up doing is act a fool off the court when he wasn't busy getting himself ejected from games for constantly pestering Stern's zebras (lol). I really do hope he doesn't finally wear out his welcome with the Pacers this season because he still has it in him to help that team get to the Finals and possibly win it all if he wants to. I just wish the young motivated Bynum who began to break out for real back during the '07-'08 season as an elite-level All-Star center (before Lamar Odom's foot derailed his entire season) was the one that remained instead of the heartless tin man we see now. Oh well, at least the Lakers got a couple titles out of him for what it's worth...
Bynum was freaking monster player, I remember him with the Lakers, he was on bench, then he was starting, dunking, posting everyone, won 2 rings, was an All Star, and I dont know what happened to him...I also remember him owning Shaq, I honestly had high hopes for this dude, he was even better than Dwight at one point , Idk why Lakers traded him but that was the worst move ever
Apart from the injuries, its his attitude. He wasn't a great professional (probably explains the injuries). Too bad for the Lakers, they replaced him with another cry baby in Dwight "Offensive Option" Howard.
When he had the breakout year he was the 3rd option behind Kobe and Gasol but still averaged 18 pts 10 Rebs 2 blks. I think if he was dedicated, didn't have knee issues and was the #1 option he could've put up 24 pts 12 Rebs
If Byrum stayed healthy, he was one of the last traditional big man who had a real post game. I was surprised at how often he used his left to shoot. He got the body, the long arms, a natural. If he didn't get injured and weird. I remember Pau sitting down with him to talk after one playoff loss, i thought Lakers would regroup, then Byrum was traded.
I remember Kareem would say that he tried teaching the Sky Hook to Andrew but he didn’t want to learn/use it, but this video is evidence that he did put his own spin on what was taught to him by Kareem. Andrew’s hook shot isn’t as pretty or sweeping as Kareem’s, but damned if it doesn’t get just as high if not higher than the old Sky Hook. I had no idea how much he relied on that over the left shoulder hook, and after years of watching centers in the present era simply jacking up three pointers, it’s quite beautiful to watch.
There was a period when the Lakers could just throw it to Bynum on the elbow and expect either 80% fg percentage or a double team for a good look. Bynum had higher potential than any center since shaq. And I'm not forgetting Dwight
This is beautiful. I do not understand why fans today have no love on post plays. The only reasons I can think are laziness and softness. Maybe lack of patience. I do not think it is about the game is changing. Of all the teams that won the championship since 2015, only the Warriors relied heavily on 3-point shooting. This is the era when fans are talking too much about analytics and 3-point shooting. Yes the game is evolving but I never believe the game really change at it very core. The formula is still the same to win a championship, have a solid offense, have a formidable defense and have at least one unbelievably talented player and you have a good crack to win one.
just watching him lumber in the post is a joy to watch... I hope to see a renaissance of back-to-basket big men in my time so we can see more of this type of grinding style
THE MENTAL TOUGHNESS that BYNUM has. Is much more tougher than the rest of the superstars in todays era.. prime healthy BYNUM will eat EMBIID. ANTETOKOUNMPU and others BIGS in todays era. VERY PHYSICAL and STRONG.. He will excel in any era
I am amazed that Andrew Bynum can shoot a jumpshot and can perform some post moves. In terms of post moves and other basketball fundamentals and footwork, I put Bynum over Dwight Howard despite that Dwight has better stats except his freethrows. The Lakers needed Bynum for those championship years in 2009 and 2010.
Bynum at his peak was probably the second best center in the league after Dwight, and he excelled in the one thing that Dwight struggled with: a great post game.
I'm so sad that he got injured. That guy was a beast; He had true great post skill, he had the size, he was a very good rebounder,... He's only 28 and his career is as good as over for a few years now. I'm sad that we couldn't see what Oden could have been, but Bynum is even worse. The way he destroys O'Neal at the beginning is epic
I remember when the year he was drafted. It was the big 3 next dominate centers. Tyson Chandler, Kwame brown, and Andrew Bynum. And Bynum was the last one drafted. They used to call him Mini Shaq in school. I had a feeling with is size (280 pounds) he could be the best of the 3. Brown was drafted #1, Chandler #2 and Bynum at #10!, Bynum and Chandler came right out of high school to the NBA, Kwame was the one everyone thought was a sure thing. Lakers got Bynum at #10 I knew they scored on that pick..
He had the size, length, strength, athleticism, touch, timing, post moves, foot work. It's too bad Odom and Kobe broke his knees twice. Lakers would have won more championships with him. Good thing he got that big contract to set him off for life.
this bumps andy varejao to the bench, giving the cavs possibly the best bench in the league. jarrett jack, andy varejao, anthony bennett, tyler zeller, earl clark, cj miles, sergey karasev, carrick felix. that's one hell of a bench
It's crazy that there are no current big men in the NBA that have this skill set. Yet the media wants us to believe the players are more talented than past players
As a laker fan, I still wish they had Bynum, he has post game and the ability to play as good defense and Dwight at times when his attitude is right .... Look at the last year he played for the lakers when he had what 10 blocks against Denver
A lot of people don't realize how good Bynum was he was probably a distraction in the locker room or probably didn't work hard but to be honest I would take him today as my center because clearly the centers these days are straight up trash tbh
Looked up Bynum because I really miss watching skilled post up bigs. Anybody else remember when he took an ill-advised 3 and got taken out of the game? Time has changed lol
there, my friends, is a man with the potential to be the greatest big man of this decade. all the talent in the world. if he had only been mature, he wouldve been the best ever. RIP bynums carrer and hair
Bynum/Gasol/Odom was a Deadly combination for the Lakers in the post. Bynum could do everything in the post, rebound, defense, shotblock, power, strength, length, but what was rare about Bynum, he had the post moves n could really score, dominate. You could give him the ball n let him work. He was probably the best scoring Center at the time.
This video was from 1-2 years ago. If you watched him this season you would notice how perfectly timed his cuts are, how smart he is on defense and how deserving he was of the title. The Grizzlies' opponents averaged the lowest points out of anyone in the NBA for a reason
Fuck.. I just realized how much better Bynum is in the post. We lost a great talent but good luck to him in Cleveland. Hope he can play to his full potential.
i'd rather watch sharp post moves than hard slamdunks all day every day. cause dunks don't take practice - you are 7 footer who got enough space, you go and jam it down. those bynum's shakes and spins take hours of work/sweat/tears. must appreciate it
Man he used to handle DeAndre Jordan like a puppet.
Filippos Kyriazidis yeah he did
I clearly remember that as well
lmao🤣🤣🤣
DeAndre is all hype. Look where he is today. Yeah, I do not even know what team he is playing right now. Old Man Duncan exposed his defense at the age of 39.
He used to handle Marc Gasol with ease too.
Man he was great, and boy did the Lakers let him go at the right time. Wow.
Andrew, you were suppose to be the future.......
Yeah until kobe blew both his knees out
@@javierchavez1790 not both but I agree
Philly fan spotted
Yep thanks kobe ruining a promising talent
Maybe if the Lakers just kept Bynum in 2012 it wouldn't cost Mike Brown is job because he started using the dumb Princeton offense as soon as Dwight came.
man i miss this classic andrew bynum
I remember these days, Bynum was really coming into his own, if it wasn't for his bad knee injuries he would be the best big man in the game right now
for 2 minutes he was the best center in the league.
He was never better than howard
@Jack Burton not true at all. Revisionist history at its finest. Saying Dwight had zero post moves is a media driven fallacy. I remember watching this kid he was good back in his prime. Wish it didn't end so quick
the last of a dying breed of proper offensive centers
Marc Gasol? Also the rookie Jahlil Okafor is one hell of a post player
Oh yeah Marc Gasol fo sho, my bad. I haven't actually watched Okafor yet so there's that
Tasdique Chowdhury Search him up, his footwork is incredible.
+Tasdique Chowdhury big al
z-bo Zach Randolph
Who else just loves watching nice post moves?
To big, to strong, to talented, to long. He was a freakin beast. Gasol, bynum, odom combo was deadly.
man i miss bynum, his triple double in points rebounds & BLOCKS against the nuggets was nasty
I love ur vids
Wow Marc Gasol's defense on him is incredible, how Bynum is getting any of those shots to go is pure strength and skill
Its pretty amazing. Bynum wasn't a super athlete by any means, but had great feet, solid body control and amazing touch. As a 7 footer, thats all you really need to have an elite low post game. Victor Wembanyama has a similar skill as Andrew Bynum.
He’s the reason why we made the trade for pau gasol! His development put us in a situation where all we needed was one last piece to win it all.
If Bynum was more dedicated and played with more heart he could've been easy top 10 all time centers
Absolutely
I thought leg injuries derailed him?
If his knees were more dedicated, he would be top 5 center of all-time.
Injuries and the wrong team, this dude should have been a perennial all star.
Last American born big man with any semblance of a post game
Back when teams use their Big men to dominate the game ......
+Dalton Greenwell W
+Dalton Greenwell NBA focuses on mostly point guards
I'd say real gameplay of basketball ended in 2010
Jaelen Manela it did that's when everything was fast paced and big men were not used correctly after the heat mug three people wanted to be fast
It started declining 20 years before that after 1990. But yeah, it feels like the big man really went away after 2010.
He's such a load to handle down in the post. His post moves are sharp along with great touch on his jump hooks. Nothing like watch a true center play true back to the basket kind of ball.

PeekaPeep to be fair he had other stuff to work on.
andrew bynum your talent is wasting away what are you doing, there's kid's that want be where you are.
Chris Paul, Kobe, and Andrew Bynum in that 2011-2012 season would've been something special
Where is his highlight as a sixers? My bad, i forgot he became a bowler last year.

He got bored of the game...
Didn't care about basketball was more concerned with his cars and the money
Well i guess he thought he was the best center ever and got bored of games, just like michale besealy
He got bored of the game and his body weight killed his knee.
If it weren’t for his knee injuries and had a humbling attitude, Bynum would be up there in the NBA’s Dominant Centers conversations.
His jump hook is deadly
thats post up move was so clean i mean he's making it look easy. so much power . tsk tsk
When he had the breakout year he was the 3rd option behind Kobe and Gasol but still averaged 18 pts 10 Rebs 2 blks. I think if he was dedicated, didn't have knee issues and was the #1 option he could've put up 24 pts 12 Rebs
Lakers should sign him again for the vet minimum one year lol. If he can stay healthy he may provide his vintage stuff
So agree
TheOne LOL. He doesnt give a fuck about basketball anymore.
TheOne hes still young too.. 28 years old
bynum could have been so great
His absence created a vacuum
dearshomy bynum put a venom on the court
If Byrum stayed healthy, he was one of the last traditional big man who had a real post game. I was surprised at how often he used his left to shoot. He got the body, the long arms, a natural. What a monster inside!!
Great touch

"when he still cared about basketball" lmao true
with the post coming back stronger in todays game again, bynum would be a god
Imagine him minus the knee issues, Kobe's work ethics, and fully mentored by Kareem
The guy is so tall. That hes virtually unstoppable.
I'm a die hard Cavs fan and can't wait to see him get back to what this video just showed.
There was a period when the Lakers could just throw it to Bynum on the elbow and expect either 80% fg percentage or a double team for a good look. Bynum had higher potential than any center since shaq. And I'm not forgetting Dwight
+Thomas Nishimoto meh Dwight was pretty good. I agree, but it would be close between bynum and howard.
+Thomas Nishimoto plus he had freethrows
Bynum was never in the same league as D12. He had one good season and everybody lost their minds
dxburner222 actually he has 5 good seasons plus he is a 2 time champion where's D12 Titles???
L-Mighty Effect bynum had a better team there is no debate on that.
Bynum has the best post moves in the NBA today, no lies.
This guy had talent!!
This is beautiful. I do not understand why fans today have no love on post plays. The only reasons I can think are laziness and softness. Maybe lack of patience. Bynum has a soft touch. Something a lot of strong big men dont have.
Idol ko talaga yang low post Niya
That one season he was the best center in the game
Bynum at his peak was probably the second best center in the league after Dwight, and he excelled in the one thing that Dwight struggled with: a great post game.
I'm still a Bynum supporter. He's gonna have a great year in Cleveland, watch.
so happy to have him at cleveland
Had absolutely no idea he could go left, damn happy to have him in Indy, let's do it this year!!!!!
He ate Gasaul up like 50% of those clips, hahah
Andrew Bynum is the best Center in the NBA when healthy.
Wish this guy played longer
YES, GO PACERS! This could be the year!
he is when hes on his game and healthy. dwights jus more consistent and less prone to injuries.
I'm so sad that he got injured. That guy was a beast; He had true great post skill, he had the size, he was a very good rebounder,... He's only 28 and his career is as good as over for a few years now. I'm sad that we couldn't see what Oden could have been, but Bynum is even worse.
The way he destroys O'Neal at the beginning is epic
i agree with bynum but being honest oden did not look like he was gone be great anyway!
I remember when the year he was drafted. It was the big 3 next dominate centers. Tyson Chandler, Kwame brown, and Andrew Bynum. And Bynum was the last one drafted. Those soft hands reminds me of shaq, really hope he can come back to the court one day.
Post Move Clinic is right! Big Man got moves. Welcome to Cleveland Andrew!
Bynum is better center than any body cuz he's 86% ft shooter ...
He had the size, length, strength, athleticism, touch, timing, post moves, foot work. It's too bad Odom and Kobe broke his knees twice. Lakers would have won more championships with him. Good thing he got that big contract to set him off for life.
Who searched up Bynum highlights when the Pacers just got him?
He had one really good year and got ahead of himself, got complacent, lazy, got big contract and that was the end
Amazing player
If he didn't have such an attitude, could've been one of the best players in the league
BYNUM DOING WORK!
Best Center in the NBA, Period
Hahahahahaha so glad that the interview slip-up was included at the very end
this bumps andy varejao to the bench, giving the cavs possibly the best bench in the league. jarrett jack, andy varejao, anthony bennett, tyler zeller, earl clark, cj miles, sergey karasev, carrick felix. that's one hell of a bench

Miss watching him play
Great job to who ever put this together :D
Fucking BEAST - I really hope he returns to form because the Cavs are going to be legit if he even approaches what he was on the Lakers.
i remember when he grabbed 30 boards against a powerhouse Spurs team. Such promise unrealized due to inujuries
he's got great footwork
Looked up Bynum because I really miss watching skilled post up bigs. Anybody else remember when he took an ill-advised 3 and got taken out of the game? Time has changed lol
Yep that's more like it. A very solid starting 5.
there, my friends, is a man with the potential to be the greatest big man of this decade. all the talent in the world. if he had only been mature, he wouldve been the best ever. RIP bynums carrer and hair

TOMSoCaLA Odom was a point forward he’ll be good in today’s league
BYNUM is the real GOAT 🐐
Better than dwight will ever be. If bynum took it more serious, his last name would be hanging from the rafters in the next 7 years.
+Luke1too4 nigga hurt his ego too?
He was never in the same league as Dwight ... One season averaging 17 and 11...
That's because Bynum was never the first option on a team, Dwight was, but Bynum was more skilled than Dwight, Dwight has no post moves.. at all.
Julian Escobedo L
+Patrick Robertson ya momma
I miss Bynum..If Howard didn't resign to Lakers nxt season hope they get back Big Bynum.
i hope he does good with the pacers
he is done for the playoffs supposedly.
his footwork is really good.
nice set up, left hand right hand nice
his low post move used to dominate a lot. sadly, both knees were injured and never got healthy again, which destroyed his career.
This video was from 1-2 years ago. If you watched him this season you would notice how perfectly timed his cuts are, how smart he is on defense and how deserving he was of the title. The Grizzlies' opponents averaged the lowest points out of anyone in the NBA for a reason
BIG DREW. BEST CENTER IN THE NBA.
God imagine if the cavs still had him now. It would be kyrie, Lebron, and Bynum. We wouldn't get K-Love but we would still be deadly
Damn i miss these days!
Miss you, Andrew :'((
Fuck.. I just realized how much better Bynum is in the post. We lost a great talent but good luck to him in Cleveland. Hope he can play to his full potential.
Ok, now i want to see his bowling moves.
Philly fans: “You were the Chosen One!”
Best jump hook in the game (when healthy of course)
i'd rather watch sharp post moves than hard slamdunks all day every day. cause dunks don't take practice - you are 7 footer who got enough space, you go and jam it down. those bynum's shakes and spins take hours of work/sweat/tears. must appreciate it
i didn't know he had a jumper...many forget he was the 2nd best center behind howard from 08 - 11.
Best Center on the bench, period.
