I love Ty Johnson he Carrie’s the ball like his hair is on fire ! He goes full speed on every play love his effort! Can u imagine if cook ran with purpose like he does! Go Bills !!!
Cook to me has some explosiveness but lacks top end speed if that makes sense. But he is a good back and better if he stops dropping balls. Hope he has a pro bowl year!
@@3_bvp Even if it was, Running Backs don't need to be the absolute speediest, as long as they have good acceleration and/or power. If he can increase his strength, he will be set.
I am so excited for this running back squad! Remember, we have one of the leagues best running backs at QB as well, so really, we have four solid running backs. This can really fit into Joe Brady's offense style of providing lots of different creative options! I'd love to see a handoff to Davis, who pitches it to Cook, who pitches it back to Allen, who breaks through and runs for a 50 yard touchdown. It's creative, tricky stuff like this which beats elite defenses, not lust blindly firing it down to Gabe Davis into triple coverage which is easily picked off.Even if this offense isn't great this season, it will be competitive, able to run and complete some nice short ranged throws for a creeping offense. Not having Diggs and Davis will loose us some games, but Davis at least is fairly easily replaceable, and Diggs' second round pick will help make this team a lethal force in 2025!!I'm not giving up on this season, but I think doing well would be a very good surprise, all in preparation for this teams 2026 Super Bowl run!!
The concerns Joe brings up are valid. The pass blocking concerns me most. Josh needs to be kept clean and upright for the Bills to thrive with this roster. I really think Ray Davis was drafted to improve the pass game as Cook’s fumbles/ drops are mental issues that cannot be tolerated as a #1. While cook is exciting, his error rate exceeds what any football coach would want/ expect. I’m think we see Ray Davis a lot if he holds onto the ball and Josh trusts him.
If it makes you feel a little better Josh was still the least sacked QB in 2023. That’s with James cook getting 325 touches. Meaning he’s doing alright. Josh isn’t Mack jones back there and the OLine is by far the best he’s had. IMO: I think Ty Johnson is going to be a true 1B to cook. He’s a bigger back at 5’10” 220 maybe a step slower than cook but he’s better between the tackles and in pass pro. Idk why I think Ray Davis has to legitimately prove he’s a better option than the bigger back that’s proven he works well as a 1B RB.
I like James Cook, but dude needs to stop dropping balls. Being a good pass catcher was a big part of his draft profile, feels like we got ripped off a bit
@mongoosemcmongoose2786 Yes it is fam. If he just physically can’t catch it because he has rocks for hands, he isn’t just going to magically learn to be a pass catching RB. If it’s psychological, he’s either struggling with confidence or he has a case of the “yips” and has too many negative thoughts about dropping the ball racing through his head or he’s too concerned with what he’ll do after the catch before actually catching it. If it’s a confidence issue, Brady just needs to scheme him more touches to gain more confidence. If it’s psychological, he just needs to work with a sports psychologist to help him shut off the conscious thoughts and let his subconscious and nervous system take over. I am a former college athlete and had those issues before working with a PhD psychologist at my school with a specialty in sports. He did wonders
Given how RBs today don’t typically get a second contract because they are basically peaked when they enter, could Cook potentially buck that trend and get an extension since he really wasn’t/hasn’t peaked early like a typical RB?
You say James Cook is not getting a whole lot more for what is blocked for him, but couldn’t his ability to find the hole (agility or speed) account for his being able to get more yards before contact? IE a toss to the edge Cook gets to the edge where Ray Davis will likely get contacted near the LOS?
In Ray Davis' 3 1000 yard seasons, particularly at Vanderbilt (In the SEC), did he have consistent gains from line of scrimmage or did he have subpar games against SEC teams and huge games against the cupcake teams?
Should we pay running back? This is the easiest question I've been asked in my life the answer is no, not Christian McCaffrey, not Barry Sanders no running back should get a second contract.
I’m tired of everyone putting down Cook, who was the last RB the bills had break 1000 yrds? I don’t remember either so chill out he’s solid enough to win games
Sorry but Ray Davis is not going to be a power back in the NFL... . Name a 5-8 211lb power back... It's going to be Zach Moss all over again... Should have gone Braelon Allen... 6-1 235lbs...
I love Ty Johnson he Carrie’s the ball like his hair is on fire ! He goes full speed on every play love his effort! Can u imagine if cook ran with purpose like he does! Go Bills !!!
Ray Davis is gonna cook

He’s one of the fastest running backs in the league… ran a 4.42 at the combine. Speed is definitely not a flaw of his

I have to say its always a better morning when i get out of work and joe has dropped a new episode
I'm pretty high on Davis, he's gonna be solid
Good Morning Joe ☕️!!! 👏
The number one reason I'm stoked for the Bills running game in 2024 is the return of the O Line!

best way to start a morning.
Great points, Joe
I really believe that it is going to come down to how well/fast the OL will gel. If the line is solid the offense should roll.
I can't wait for the Bills to run this year! From the Oline having more depth to the additions of Davis and Jr. LETS GO BUFFALO!!!
I like Ty Johnson a lot
DAVIS AND COOK IN THAT ORDER THUNDER AND LIGHTNING!! YOU'LL SEE YOU'LL BELIEVE.
Are the RB pass blocking problems more an effort or technique problem?

Fortunately it appears more of a psychological issue than a physical issue. That’s easier to correct

Yeah he just needs some stickier gloves!
thats the kinda work they needed to be giving singletary. Look at their number! Run the damn ball.

Bruh, I don’t want to see a single tush push this season. Not one. Unless it’s to win the SB! Go Bills!

That’s the hope
Cook top 10, but rated 24th by PFF.
Frank Gore Jr. 💪. You're sleeping 😴 💤 🛌
I think Davis will over take cooks job eventually. The drops and fumbles are just a back breaker that can be the difference in a game
I hope frank gore jr makes the team
I would love to see US make a trade give The Jaxon vill ty Johnson and and a draft pick and pick up bran tomas jr

English please

Ray is here to take cook’s job
Hopefully James prices himself outta’ the second contract and balls out
Frank gore might be fire Joe ? He hasn’t even had his growth spurt.
Does anyone else call Ray Davis Ray rice ?
I refuse to give up on Frank Gore, Jr. I hope he makes the team.
