First time watching , you should be on the radio & tv. The best independent podcast I've watched on the Bills. I think if the Bills take care of offense, the defense don't have to be at it's finest. As with a QB like Allen they will outscore, he just needs better receivers & so frustrating to watch how his strength which is throwing it deep is not utilized more often.

Defensive line play is a big item but the veteran edge rushers that have been floating around the rumor mill as available have injury issues. Been there.

  • @Miniath

if josh finished with 12 interceptions id be ecstatic, i generally feel the turnover "issue" is overblown and when it comes down to it he shows up, but can't hurt lol

Some of these metrics are a natural part of the deliberate approach the Bills have implemented. On defense the Bills have emphasized speed over size. This would likely result in defenders making contact sooner (4th in the NFL) but then giving up more yards after contact (24 the) in the NFL . It is a tredeoff between size and speed.

    • @IntroducingMrLucci

Definitely don't emphasize speed with their CBs..

I hope we keep the 3rd down conversions high in the 40’s or even 50%. Keeps the drives going which means at least the offense is doing something productive

Joe, I could not agree more with having a game closing clinch edge rusher vs a #1 WR. If given the choice between a Joey Bosa, Miles Garrett, or Micah Parsons, I’d take any of them over a Justin Jefferson or Ja'Marr Chase.

Did a quick look back at past few drafts to see what pro-bowl caliber DE's were available that the Bills could have drafted. Only found 3: Josh Sweat, Jermaine Johnson, and Maxx Crosby. Any one of those would have been awesome. It's just hard to find that top tier talent. Feels like we've been plugging holes on a sinking ship the last three seasons.

Had the Bills drafted Crosby would've wanted him on the bench till his 4th or 5th he in the league.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ray Davis take the lead at RB. Was hoping would've drafted Shipley who is outstanding receiving and acceleration. Davis has hands also tho

Joe..regarding your comments about the defense, you have explained the 100% ABSOLUTE AND EXACT REASON why we exit the playoffs EVERY YEAR. Oliver is undersized..AND THEY KNEW THAT when he was drafted.. older DTs playing next to oliver proves to not work...they are always injured..THE SMARTESR PICK IN THIS YEARS DRAFT IS BY FAR DEWAYNE CARTER..we need strength, weight and youth next to ed. Not older players..you KNOW IM RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks as always Joe. I love powerful backs that get yards after contact, but I'm also wondering if those backs take more of a beating over the course of the season. Does this lead to more injuries in bruiser-type backs? Does their production tend to dip at the end of seasons, because they are more banged up. I wish Cook was more physical, but I also wonder if the blessing in disguise is that he seems more healthy and his body is less beat up toward the end of the season. One thing I've noticed about Cook is he rarely takes a big hit. He seems to skim the tackle and land fairly softly, which may preserve is health over a long NFL season. Glass half full day I suppose. Is there any analysis on yards after contact guys and injuries or late season production? Love the addition of a Ray Davis though. Here's hoping he is a much more effective version of Zach Moss, who is built like a between the tackles runner, but struggles to get the tough yards. Our RB room is not very deep, so if Cook or Davis go down, Ty Johnson is our #1? That's a little scary to me.

It's a fair point. But you can also make the same case that slashing style backs slow down as well, just like Cook did last year. That's why I like multiple backs being heavily involved. Keep everyone fresh with complementary skillsets

Josh isn’t underpaid (many others overpaid). Looking at overall contract value vs team salary cap, Buff is fine right now. Status in the league without a SB appearance is going to hinder a quick jump in his pay. And as the great QB he is, I hope he holds off a few years on a restructure to fix the Diggs, Miller hit on the cap.

  • @mazzvidz

Teams that lose the turnover battle, lose the game… 80% of the time.
Thats just a fact based on a century of historical data.
Every game matters in the NFL. If Allen hadn’t given the first Jets game and the Denver game and the Bengals game away .. the Bills are the #1 seed, Allen is the runaway MVP and we don’t lose critical players in the wildcard against Pittsburgh.
Working on mechanics in the offseason should be the absolute bare minimum of what’s expected from a franchise quarterback. The thought that Allen hasn’t done this since 2020 is mind blowing.

Oh let's go! Welcome and I look forward to walking through this coming season with you. I think you will enjoy how we attack pre and post-game coverage. I like to think it is very comprehensive. I do 6 episodes per week. If the Bills play on Sunday then here is what you can expect. Within a few hours of the game ending, I drop my immediate reaction to the it. Then we do Herd Mentality. Then I do an All-22 film review of the game. Then I do a crossover preview with the host of the upcoming opponent. Then I do my own deep dive into the matchup. Lastly is my final thoughts, injury update and my predictions for the next game. Rinse and repeat.

I was really hoping the Bills would have replaced that dude after last year. I know the team comes out and says if the team made certain plays they would have never been in a field goal of loss situation, but the hard truth is, Bass is 100% directly responsible for at least 2-3 losses last year, with one of them sealing Buffalo’s fate in the playoffs. He gives me ZERO confidence going into this year.

The problem with "Going Deep" is that Josh Allen doesn't throw a good deep ball. He can throw a good missile down the field, but if he has to put touch on the ball he always misses downfield.
