Erebus Flight 901: Litany of Lies? Episode 1
On November 28, 1979, an Air New Zealand DC10 crashed into the slopes of Mt Erebus in Antarctica, killing all 257 people on board. But who was really at fault, the pilot or the government-owned airline?
On the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, presenter Garry McAlpine and writer/director John Keir interview the key players in a quest to discover the truth. They talk to the family of Jim Collins, the pilot who was initially blamed for the accident. For the first time we hear from an American pilot who tried in vain to send a warning to the doomed flight.

Having watched the entire 10 episode, 6:04 was not among them. Was it removed for some reason?

Mistakes were made by Air New Zealand and so it’s executives thought that all documentary evidence of those errors needed to be covered up and shredded. Fast forward 21 years to the crash of the Air France Concorde, mistakes were made in the maintenance of AF4590. Such as the omission of the left (port) bogie spacer, that caused drag and veer to the left on the take off run. Then there was the overfilling of fuel tanks etc. A similar cover-up by the French investigators and investigation errors, all just like Chippindales report. Politicians became involved in both cases - New Zealand premier Muldoon and President Chirac.
