That’s a lot of good info for people. The number one sign of a person who’s gonna fail a lease is the “ I wanna lease so I can be home more”. Not understanding that your first loads pay the truck the next load pay your fuel and then finally the last loads pay you. Not being able to understand that any home time or down time automatically starts digging a hole. That doesn’t mean you can’t go home, but every thing has to be calculated. If you want more home time buy from a dealership. If you can grind hard and keep moving, then a lease can work.
@ Jimmie krout,I agree 100%.. I drive local (home every night) people always ask “y don’t u get your own truck?”… uummm cause I wanna be every night. I can’t afford to buy a truck with that mindset right now..once I’m ready to go back OTR I may look into sfi or something
Leasing is a huge expense and a huge gamble; it’s geared toward people with no money and low credit to help them get in the game of O/O. But you can come up over time. Definitely you need to have good business sense and good money management. The goal should be to get out of the truck payment because with a lease purchase your paying about 50% more for what the truck is actually worth so paying the truck down saves you on that 50%.
