I don't know if the dolphin paintings at 9:08 and 9:20 are by him, but the undisputed king of that style of art in the 90s was Christian Riese Lassen. He was sort of the ever-so-slightly more mature, aquatic equivalent to Lisa Frank, whom you also mention. I bet that dude had a field day when Ecco the Dolphin was released! You taught me Patrick Nagel's name via your videos, so I figured I'd try and return the favor. 😉
Those dolphin pictures are a mood. I rember when I was a kid in the 90s I won two airbrush unicorn pictures that had that aesthetic from a county fair. Good times.
Even though I went to college from 2001-05, my college apartment was decorated with furniture similar to what's in this store because it's what my friends and I could afford 🤣
about that laser tag gun. back in the late 80's I waitressed at a Chi Chi's mexican restaurant in Ohio and our manager bought a Laser Tag game for his kids for christmas. he decided to hide it in the main bar where they locked up all the liquor. well, one Monday evening it was really slow and the bartenders were bored and they found this laser tag game and they were running around the bar playing it. Unfortunately, Chi Chi's had a contract with Pinkerton's to do secret shopper reports and wouldn't you know it, that Monday evening was the day Pinkerton's decided to show up at our store. A few weeks later the manager gets his secret shopper report and he was so pissed to find out that all his bartenders were running around playing laser tag. it was quite the dilemma because he couldn't just put all his bartenders on suspension at the same time.
@matt I am very very VERY shy and as long as it it's harmless I love to watch others do things I wouldn't dream of doing and I chose to decide this was in the harmless vein! 🤗
I couldn't quite make out the label on the daylight/darkness clock. It looked like it was a Geochron. If it is, especially with that wood front, rush back and get that thing now. Old mechanical Geochrons go for a thousand bucks and up depending on model and condition. Just the facts it's working makes it worth $500. I sure I wish I lived near there. They are used in everything from boardrooms of international companies to the Defense Department to amatuer radio stations. That's a real prize waiting for you to snatch it up.
19:19 That Kodak is a type of instant camera from the 70's! Similar to a Polaroid, but the crank handle was to eject the picture. I'd be amazed if you could find film for that!
Kodak got sued over trade secret infringement by Polaroid. Kodak basically got hit hit with a "cease and desist all commerce" order and couldn't sell either the cameras or the film. Rare, but worthless.
I think I'm suffering some kind of depression right now, and it has nothing to do with the virus. I don't know how to explain it, but my depression has been going on for over a year now and has seen little to no improvement since then. My depression sometimes becomes so bad that I can't really enjoy videos like these anymore. Back then in 2018/early 2019 I used to absolutely enjoy videos like thrift store videos, home videos from the 80s, old commercials, you get the idea. Nowadays, I watch those videos with a cloud over my head. I just hope i can get over this stupid depression as soon as possible.
The box at 4:20 looks like the portable sewing machines that my aunts and grandma used to use. That or the other portable things pre-90's, like typewriters.
The map is cool.. it shows the current grayline, or Sun set and rise lines...... Really nice thing for amateur radio operators. If you ever have any amateur radio questions or finds and need anything, hit me up
20:07 watching this in 2023, I was blown away by that shelf of games at Goodwill. You just don't see full dedicated video game sections there anymore. I've been so used to there being *maybe* a handful of games mixed in with their DVDs for the past couple years, that it wasn't until this video that I remembered what it used to be like. Guess that's a lesson in appreciating something before it's gone. Hell these days I'd even be willing to take some of those Gamecube sports titles down there lol
I had that exact same boombox back in the day! 14:51. It's been in my garage for years, and yet when I was cleaning and found it again, I plugged it back in just to see if it worked, and yep! Now I'm glad I hung onto it, lol
Ugh, I miss thrifting so much! It's wild when you find really old stuff at the thrift store. I found a vaporwave unicorn print the last time I went to Good will that I hung on my gallery wall. I love the 90s dolphin ones! I'll have to check out these stores once things start to be normal again.
I got way excited over those lamps ! The old furniture is in good shape cause its wood and people only got one set for life ! Cook books sell well on Ebay. Theres alwaysss a clown. Arrgggggg that little round chair you called ugly. 😍
Ah man, that tape deck in the last thrift store, my parents had before I was born even, so think about how old that could have been! I played around with that model, or another iteration of it back in the day too. The laser tag gun is cool too, brought back memories for me too, as my Dad and I went down to KB toys I think it was to pick up a pair of those and vests and sensors to play when they were on special clearance back in the day, and also had the laser tag hat I wore that had a sensor on the top of it. Fun fun stuff if only I knew where all that cool stuff had gone, I have no idea now....damn
There is this thrift shop by where I used to live in FL and it is CREEPY. This place was an antique shop off the highway and I would always pass it on my way home from work so one day I stopped by and each area had a booth where you can see what each person was collecting and how to contact them etc. In the back there was this one booth that made me leave: dark paintings of clowns, women being watched through windows, and some old cameras. Photo stacks of random people ( I say random because no one looked like they knew they were being photographed) and lots of costumes. Made me super uncomfortable like I was looking through some creeps personal items. Never went back.
Great video! Nice thrift stores! I can't wait to go thrift shopping again when all of this quarantine is over. I'm sure there will be more stuff on the shelves since people are Spring cleaning now.
This is why I love thrift stores and these videos. You see things that flood back memories. I had that Fisher Price Pop Up phone (the original wooden one, back when all of FP toys were made with wood) Love your thrift store hauls (my daughter wants to see more Barbies lol). I actually like older furniture, that ol' rust orange color too, lol they were built sturdier, almost everything was back then. Looking forward to new uploads once this passes. Stay safe ✌
OMG!!! i remember seeing one of those FM plug in talk thingies knocking around the house growing up in the 90's. Anyways back then i dont think i knew exactly what it was bc i was too young. Btw my dad loved radio shack lol.
At 16 mins my parents had a can opener exactly like that. Mid to late 80s. It was not very good. Honestly if you have the strenght use a hand held one it works better. Edit. That sony tape deck. My parents had that model hooked up to their 60s Hi-Fi Stereo System with built in turntable and AM/FM stereo. The system was built into a large cabinet. Dark stain. It was a wedding gift. That tape deck is late 70s early 80s for certain. It worked I can tell you that.
You can get the answering machine to work, if you have a "cellular bridge" that connects to your cell phone via bluetooth and then provides a landline compatible jack to plug old telephony into. The XLink works very well for this.
15:52 those old can openers are actually better than the modern ones. I bought one new on amazon and it crapped out 5 months later. So I picked up an old one from goodwill.
That clock gave me a laugh, I have that exact clock on the wall behind me as I watch this! Funny to see it in a thrift store, maybe I should see if I can find an even tackier one!
Lots of fun, many thanks for your videos, Everyone please remember to keep your hands washed up at all times in order to help prevent the spread of germs peace out ✌🏿
Those Pioneer speakers were a lot like mine I bought in 1980 if you pulled off the and saw 12 inch woofers mid range and tweeters that would be them . Brand new at the Emporium in San Jose CA.
I'm dyyyiiinnngg over the house teapots, I'm a big dork and I love quirky teapots and I have one of that set, they were for gifts decades ago. I am ALWAYS looking for teapots like that at my thrift stores but I'm in Maryland so your location is not helpful to me LOL. I enjoyed seeing them though, they are amazing and if I came across them I would swoop them all up!!!
I love old polished wood furniture that is very plush when it's upholstered. My parents wouldn't take me to do anything like Laser Tag because it got the old "waste of money" reasoning. I loved seeing all the old things. ;)
I love these videos. I like how you look at interesting stuff like games, toys, and electronics. Most people just look at shoes and cloths. I personally love to hunt for Polaroid cameras at antique malls and thrift stores.
In reference to the telephone remote control system, RadioShack actually did not manufacture those. They were rebadged X10 devices. the cool thing was they were all compatible with each other if you set the same house code. They were branded under a bunch of different names including RadioShack, IBM, even Stanley.
Holy heck, that dolphin print thing with the palm trees in the background is the most aesthetic thing I've ever seen. You are lucky to have all those cool thrift stores where you live, here in Oklahoma all we have (at least near me) is salvation army and Goodwill, and I practically never find anything interesting at all.
BOY PLEEEEEAAASSEEE!! They were still using those overhead projectors all the way up to 2014 when I was in middle and beginning of high school. And you better know the unfortunate districts are riding those till the wheels fall off
I used to volunteer at a "free swap" event where people could bring in usable items and take what they wanted. Every year someone would bring in an organ, we would plug it in next to the building, every year it would find a new home.
Oh I'd love to have that brown can opener, it's looking amazing. In The Netherlands you don't see that stuff. $4. I'd pay $40 for it haha. Great video. Always love to see you going around malls and thrift shops. I really like the fact you also show prices, also in regular stores. Some things are really so much cheaper than over here, but a lot also way more expensive then I would have thought. I hit the like button before watching, you never disappoint me. You deserve way more likes. So everyone reading this... smash that button haha. Keep up the good work. Thanks for showing me around in areas I will never be able to visit myself.
I have that can opener and it still works great, it's actually from the early 80s. I actually bought it from the Kmart in my town when they closed it. Paid a whopping 25 cents for it. It still had the box and all. Apparently it sat in their break room for years and was barely used so they put it in a cabinet. At least that the manager knew of. Either way I Paid a quarter for it and it still works great.
Those overhead projectors were in use until, at least, the early-1990s. By that point, the transparencies were being created on a PC. I remember doing presentations (in University) where one person spoke while another changed the slides as needed.
Gardner's 007 novels were from the mid 1980s until the mid 1990s. I met John Gardener in Virginia, 1990s. He was popular. I think he put out 6-8 Bond novels.
@9:16 I believe that’s an old Wyland print. He was really big around the world but had a significant impact in Hawaii where he lived. EDIT: @9:45 you’ll see a silhouette of Diamond Head in that print, signifying that this is in fact a genuine Wyland print. You should’ve actually gotten it as some prints are actually worth money, especially some of his older work.
I wonder what the price was for the organ. It was a Thomas. Thomas organs had beautiful sounds but they used to break up all the time. I have a 1977 Yamaha organ.
So I'm a little tired and uploaded the wrong file. Unfortunately there's a few audio hiccups. Sorry!
It's awesome brotha
It's awesome anyway good job
I also live in mesa az do you know if it is still open
It's ok, I always look forward to your new uploads!
Still great! Always enjoy your comments and the music under is also just very cool! Take care in our time of the Coronavirus.

i miss going to thrift stores :-(
Same here and I also miss going to garage sales
Same :/
Same here. Like, as soon as they reopen, THAT will be the first place I go!
A bar right after, too. Lol
Couldn’t agree with all of your more. We must fight for our right to party.
That Dolphin picture at 9:18 looks like a picture on a trapper keeper in the late 90's.
about that laser tag gun. back in the late 80's I waitressed at a Chi Chi's mexican restaurant in Ohio and our manager bought a Laser Tag game for his kids for christmas. he decided to hide it in the main bar where they locked up all the liquor. well, one Monday evening it was really slow and the bartenders were bored and they found this laser tag game and they were running around the bar playing it. As a customer I would have loved that.
😂
@matt I am very very VERY shy and as long as it it's harmless I love to watch others do things I wouldn't dream of doing and I chose to decide this was in the harmless vein! 🤗
The style of the Lazer Tag gun reminded me of two specific movies: “Tron” and “The Black Hole”!

im sorry you feel horrible, you will feel better in time though.. ive been there
Talk to your loved ones and ask for help! Hope you feel better soon
That Sony cassette deck @ 18:30 looks like something Techmoan would love to get his hands on.
Those cookbooks could come in handy during covid 19
Wow. I would have bought that Geochron map in an instant. New ones start at $2600.
The box at 4:20 looks like the portable sewing machines that my aunts and grandma used to use. That or the other portable things pre-90's, like typewriters.
Seeing all of those old books gives me so much nostalgia
The map is cool.. it shows the current grayline, or Sun set and rise lines...... Really nice thing for amateur radio operators. If you ever have any amateur radio questions or finds and need anything, hit me up
Throw us a fact that we may find interesting! I can’t think of a specific question.

Theres alwaysss a clown.
Arrgggggg that little round chair you called ugly. 😍
I love the old 60's-80's furniture and appliances.
Joe's apartment is a classic ... I would have totally bought it. I had it on vhs
Those dolphin pictures are my DREAM. So are the couches and the "Golden Girls" clock. The 1990s was a spectacular era for design.
Ah man, that tape deck in the last thrift store, my parents had before I was born even, so think about how old that could have been! I’m sorry, but out of all the names, Epic Thrift? I think that wins most cheesy store name.
I always imagine that random author walking into a thrift store and seeing a full shelf of their failed attempt at writing selling for a buck.
There is this thrift shop by where I used to live in FL and it is CREEPY.

Thank you! There's so much to like about this. Really appreciate all your vids that you share with the world. It really makes it a better place. : )
I love vintage sound equipment.
Nice places. I loved that daylight map.
18:36: my parents had that exact one. I used to love playing around with the buttons and stuff
Great video! Nice thrift stores! I can't wait to go thrift shopping again when all of this quarantine is over. I'm sure there will be more stuff on the shelves since people are Spring cleaning now.

That Disney walkie talkie was a great find
I remember when you did that stream that’s crazy that’s cool to see it back well in a different form but still
OMG!!! i remember seeing one of those FM plug in talk thingies knocking around the house growing up in the 90's. Anyways back then i dont think i knew exactly what it was bc i was too young. Btw my dad loved radio shack lol.

I am jealous of the laser tag gun, I had that same set in the 80’s! I like your idea to hang it on the wall .
If only they had some books like "The Cardassians: A Galactic Drama" by Captain Benjamin Sisko instead...
Kylie Jenner is 22. Net worth: $1.2BIL 💲... 😘
Thanks for the great video Erik...I miss thrift stores.
15:52 those old can openers are actually better than the modern ones. I bought one new on amazon and it crapped out 5 months later. So I picked up an old one from goodwill.
@14:50 Boom box ? i know them as Ghetto Blaster. i think i'm old 🤣
You and Mark should have bought those two thrones! Since you and him are the kings of retail exploration!
That clock gave me a laugh, I have that exact clock on the wall behind me as I watch this! Funny to see it in a thrift store, maybe I should see if I can find an even tackier one!
Hey you went to the goodwill I worked at which is Power and McDowell and normally I was the one who fixed the games the end of the night
I loved overhead projectors! Extremely helpful in math classes
The tea pots in the first thrift store are decorative. 😁
Clint from LGR would've snapped that sony tape deck right up! :)
I love picking up old Christmas and Halloween cooking and craft books.
Lots of fun, many thanks for your videos,
Everyone please remember to keep your hands washed up at all times in order to help prevent the spread of germs peace out ✌🏿
Lol I remember my teachers writing on the transparencies with their dry erase markers 😂
I worked for Kmart from 1996-2011. That can opener with the logo was awesome.
Those Pioneer speakers were a lot like mine I bought in 1980 if you pulled off the and saw 12 inch woofers mid range and tweeters that would be them . Brand new at the Emporium in San Jose CA.
"Cody Banks Special Agent DVD just randomly tucked there..." YOU TOTALLY PUT THAT THERE!! LOL
I'm dyyyiiinnngg over the house teapots, I'm a big dork and I love quirky teapots and I have one of that set, they were for gifts decades ago. I happen to have a pair of those ge speakers. They power a vintage combo system I put together from thrift and flea market finds over the years.
That tan case might of been like a reel to reel movie projector or music player
In reference to the telephone remote control system, RadioShack actually did not manufacture those. They were rebadged X10 devices. the cool thing was they were all compatible with each other if you set the same house code. They were branded under a bunch of different names including RadioShack, IBM, even Stanley.
"I picture something else goin on there" lol Coke cutting?
Now that’s another possibility definitely😂
Tony Montana style
Thanks for the video 👍 it was fun shopping with you
I really liked the white with blue flower sofa.
If you have a Deseret Industries thrift store in your area. You should go. You find all sorts of neat things. I knew. I use to work at one.
I love the thrift series! The dolphins looked really vaporwave, I would have definitely bought them lol

I would have gotten that dolphin picture with the moons and palm trees that was cool
Very cool stores.
Thanks for the tour.
I have that can opener and it still works great, it's actually from the early 80s. I actually bought it from the Kmart in my town when they closed it. Paid a whopping 25 cents for it. Great trip through time!😁
Badger Road School?! I went to that school. It's located in North Pole Alaska. I wonder how that button migrated to the desert.
Those overhead projectors were in use until, at least, the early-1990s. By that point, the transparencies were being created on a PC. I remember doing presentations (in University) where one person spoke while another changed the slides as needed.
The LazerTag StarLyte is indeed epic! I had two, and the rifle. The rifle was the best because of its automatic fire.
Mark's Silent Bob, even has the Jorts 😎
yeah that Laser Tag gun is so TNG.
I did see right?
At 20.00 - at Goodwill.
$129.46 for that scrolling international time zone display thing?
Gardner's 007 novels were from the mid 1980s until the mid 1990s. I met John Gardener in Virginia, 1990s. He was popular. I think he put out 6-8 Bond novels.
Really like the choice of music that you have chosen to talk over lol. Idk why im reminded of podcasts, or listening to talk radio..lol.
How Things Work is a book I looked at a lot when I was young
14:00 the previous owner didn't find any talking potato like the one in the ad, so it was not really properly used🙄😁
plug-n-power was Rat Shack's x10 compatible product line.
I had the exact Sony boom box. It worked until the tape player broke.
Explore the Buy N large Ultrastore!
The Kodak Pleaser II! The more surprising aspect of this is there was a Pleaser I.
9:14 bruh that exact picture is in my brothers room lmaoooooo such a super 90's and early 2000's pic
7:18 - I actually had a good laugh at the Kardashians books, I wouldn't touch those with a 10m pole.
20:41 My brother and I would kill to find a copy of NCAA Football 11 for ps2. That's one of the few sports games that's really valuable.
I was born in Sept, 1980. 🤘 right on!
The pay off game looks like the forerunner of kerplunk!
