The “salt” shaker is actually for keeping mustard in. It would have been part of a cruet set comprising a salt shaker, a ground pepper shaker, the mustard pot and a plate which the three items would have sat on. I’m Irish and enjoy your videos and tuto. I’m so glad you had a good time in Dublin.
I got cold goosebumps when I saw the books in the college library. Wow. Look at the architecture of the library and what a beautiful place bearing so much history/stories in those books on such magnificent shelves. TFS

So happy for you to visit Ireland. Eleven years ago, my daughter and I visited dear friends who live in Drogheda and Tullamore and then we took a two week bus tour of Ireland. It was amazing! You, indeed, had a wonderful trip and collected many beautiful things. Love all your treasures! Brilliant! 💚🍀
In Dublin we give usually sell furniture locally ourselves on line, or give it away for free, as charity shops do not have space for them. larger unwanted or broken and worn furniture items are taken away to be recycled (that is if you buy a new sofa, the old one will be taken away free). Ps. Sometimes we clear them into a skip (large rubbish container which can be rented) and because it is on the street sometimes people will just ask if they can have the item. I hope this explains. Xx
What fun--love the things you picked up! It was great to go along with you. I wonder if the cast iron pine cones were old clock weights--perhaps you got at least part of a clock in your travels!
My great grandparents were from Ireland. If I ever travel out of the US it will be to visit Ireland and the places of my ancestors. Thank for sharing your trip. I love watching your decor videos!
I can't with you Sherri. Had to press pause 1 sec in bc Um screaming with happiness. My Irish Puerto Rican self is overly excited to see this video. GENIUS. Pause again right before haul. Could you have packed and shipped some stuff home? Put a birthday candle in the lil brass. Its ok bc its that pillow cover.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Put a birthday candle in the little candle stick. I love miniatures. BTW, I am also Puerto Rican and I am currently working on my living room Ralph Lauren styled. I would love to have that pillow cover ❤️
I lived in Dublin for most of the 70s. I remember the Iveigh market. I used to,hit Kensington Market in London. I bought some amazing vintage clothes, satin slip I wore as an evening dress, a dress made of antique silk scarves, a gorgeous Chinese robe. My daughter has all of them now.
We're regular viewers from the UK, and always look forward to our Tuesday fix. Fascinating to see your visit to Dublin. Just wanted to say I think the little pot you thought might be for salt is actually a mustard pot. We see a lot of teapots, jug's etc in the same style in our charity shops. Keep up the good work.
Sherry, that silver cup is solid silver likely of 90% purity but could be pure or 99% silver. It was made in what is now Burma. It is called “Raj silver”, broadly, but this piece does not look like it was made in India. They are almost always unmarked. It is beautiful; I have many pieces as I collect it! A wonderful find!
I migrated to the UK from California in 2019 and I live in Notting Hill. Portobello Road is for tourists, and the cost to the vendors for their booths equally high. Fortunately, their are many charity (think thrift) shops all around with excellent prices. Oxfam is my favourite as it has separate store fronts for only books. I always pick up high quality art books at deep discounts. Happy you enjoyed Ireland! 😁👍🏼🇬🇧
I just came across your chain and I subscribed at once !!!I am a books and libraries lover and just like you I have been a teacher and love painting, decorating and making things. I like the way you explain and this beautiful long library was a good idea for the end of your film.❤
Lesson learned. Next time you go to another country buy a suitcase big enough that you can put your regular suitcase inside of it, then when you get to your destination you will gave an extra empty suitcase. Make sure you can buy bubble wrap but wait till you make a purchase that needs it and then go buy that bubble wrap and use it for breakables. You’ll have to pay for the extra suitcase going home but still cheaper than shipping. Put all your receipts in an envelope and keep in your purse.
Both uk and Ireland charity shops are all 100% charity driven dependent on which shop you’re in you donate to that particular charity hope you enjoyed Dublin I go often my husband used work there despite us living in England ! Sue ryders nationally are great charity shops
Thanks for the info! I wish more charity shops here in the U.S. were 100% charity driven. Ireland was lovely! We took a trip to England a few years ago and I loved it, too. I wasn’t able to thrift shop in England though. We were on a tour and had planned activities every day. ☹️
So glad you had an awesome trip! Love the pillow cover and yes, my name is Melissa and I am a pillow hoarder! William Morris finds were lovely and you came back with some fabulous stuff!
I would like to see those candlesticks near the 'strawberry thief' lamp shade and pillow. They seem to look to complement each other and instead of a diy, you could try to restore the crack repair better. It is hard to tell at a distance.
Oh, but to go to Ireland! Sherry, I would have tried to ship that beautiful picture home! A friend of mine, who travels internationally, will ship treasures home. She also, never carries expensive clothing, and takes a large suitcase with hardly anything in it. When ready to come home, she donates her clothing and places her purchases in the suitcase! She has acquired a lot of items that way. I am 1000 shades of Irish green with envy! Thank you for taking us along!
I wish I had thought to ask about shipping! I also never thought to just leave some of my clothing behind. I packed several sweaters because I was worried about being cold, and I could have left them there!
Just love the woodland animals plates, in particular the fox. The tiny brass candlestick, lampshade and pillow are lovely as well. My mother in law was Irish and had many pieces of handmade Irish lace which was so pretty.
I think William Morris print seems to be everywhere in the UK at the moment, wallpaper, sofas, soft furnishings etc, very popular, and so nice to see! The charity shop furniture stores seem to be dotted about in areas that are cheaper to rent, so more out of town, and of course, furniture reaches a greater market by being sold on eBay, marketplace or auctions. Also in England, a lot of the charity shop’s prices are no longer that cheap, resale has pushed the prices up, you have to workout where the good ones are, and you seemed to be quite lucky in Ireland, and yes, they are predominantly clothing! Visit the affluent areas and there are a few bargains out there, but most shop managers use evaluators now, when in doubt, especially for jewellery, China and art! So funny, I think Catherine from Dainty Diaries from Ireland, bought similar plates with the animal prints a few weeks ago 😊
Sherri, you are radiant! Your excitement with the trip and your prizes have you aglow. Your haircut is perfection. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
Loved this video ❤ You couldn’t have had a better trip! The Irish won and you had the opportunity to shop😊 Loved your purchases and your tour of the shops and Trinity 😅
I am so glad you had such a great time in Ireland! I used to dream of going there since I had ancestors from there....turns out my ancestors were from Scotland! LOL!!! So now I dream of Scotland. I adore the pillow cover you found! I think of you every time I see scenes like that.
I grew up being told my ancestors from my mom were from Ireland. Had my DNA done a few years ago and surprise!!!!! No Irish but more than half Scottish.
So glad you enjoyed Dublin, Ireland. Our charity shops, garden fairs, church fetes are where Irish people get their bargins. There are charity shops with furniture but out of the city area as large shops are expensive to rent. The hunting scene cushion is very English - not Irish. IRELAND
Dublin is an exciting, historical city. I can't believe you spent precious time in thrift/charity shops rather than visiting the wonderful buildings and sights. You can pick up bits and pieces of home decor anywhere. Try to resist the urge to do so in places that have so much more to offer.
Oh, we saw many historical places, too. My husband is having knee replacement surgery in November, so he had to have time to rest. I shopped while he rested!
Oh my Sherry! What an absolute fun video. Thank you so much for taking all of us "shopping" with you. I loved everything that you brought home. What wonderful memories you have with all of your treasures. I laughed about your comment about pillow covers. I'm right there with you not needing any more covers either, but Of Course, you needed that awesome pillow cover! That was amazing. Again, thank you for "taking all of us to Ireland with you ", while thrifting for all of your wonderful pieces. Have fun finding all of your special places for each and every piece that you brought home. :)
I can see why you loved the large painting. Next time you travel and find a beauty like this, have it shipped. My mom actually bought a small table in Italy and had it shipped. From London she had a Wedgewood tea set shipped. Both were arranged by the store where she made her purchases and they arrived just fine. I bet you could phone the store in Dublin and they would sell you the painting and ship it to you.
Once upon a time it was the fashion to have many brass candlestick, and to line them up along the mantlepiece - from the tiniest up the the largest. That was when folks had spare daughters and nieces to polish them all! Glad you enjoyed your visit.
Oh, Sherry!! What fun you all must have had in Ireland!! ❤ (Actually a dream vacation for my husband and I!!) The stores and items were amazing! And that long library!!! WOW... ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Glad you got to make the trip and you have returned safely!
Thank you so much for taking us along on your Irish thrifting trip Sherry! This was allot of fun. I'm sure you will enjoy the wonderful things you brought home. I'd like to see you use the ceramic candle holders in a DIY project. And BTW, what gave you the impression you have to need something to buy it? (Perfect pillow cover!) 😉
Canada has ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, huge, beautifully organized thrift shops in the Hamilton, Ontario area, better than most US shops, and great prices! Clothes, furniture, home goods, books and craft supplies galore!! *Be sure to bring CA dollars.* One CA dollar right now = 76 cents US. You can exchange your money as soon as you cross the border into Canada. You will need a passport to get in and out of Canada, but you can fill up your car and bring back tons of stuff! I used to go once a year and the mega hauls I would bring home would last me for a year's upcycling. Highly, highly recommend!
The fox hunt pillow cover, and the woodland creature plates, caught my eye too! Getting the tiny clog with the bigger one, was a great bonus! I’m happy for you that you actually were able to bring home so many items….especially the lampshade! It is beautiful. The pillow cover with the strawberries I’m sure will fit in somewhere in your home. I can already think of it in one or two of your rooms myself, so I’m sure you’ve thought of more!
Hi Sherry, lovely to see you visited us here in Ireland and enjoyed your trip to Dublin. You will have to come back and visit the countryside, you will find many little antique, curiosity and second hand shops. I am always so envious of your thrift stores, sadly our charity shops have become mainly clothes, shoes and books. There are some second hand furniture shops affiliated to St Vincents throughout the country but very few. Mostly people sell or give away their unwanted furniture on our 3 main free sales sites, Donedeal, Adverts and FB Marketplace. Enjoy your treasures and thank you for all your wonderful ideas. Take care M
I'm delighted that you found some reasonable price stores to wander around in. You did collect some really pretty pieces. I love the William Morris shade and pillow cover. There are some furniture stores over the other side of the city. But lot's of them are expensive. I'm so happy that you enjoyed your time here. From Ireland 🇮🇪
I love William Morris and while in Ireland, purchased a William Morris design mug, which came in a similar design tin box! I love the lamp shades! Good for you! What a haul!! I love Ireland.
Oh Sherry I was so excited to see what you bought in Ireland, I was loving every step you took! Thank you so much for sharing, your wonderful tril and your lovely items! See you soon, much love! 💞
What an awesome adventure! The pillow cover is phenomenal and the blue & white plate is absolutely lovely. But I have to ask, how in the world did you get that beautiful lampshade home with no damage? 😀 Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. 💝
Sherry - I love seeing how excited you were describing your trip, the shops and everything you brought home 😊. Thank you for taking us along, i have always dreamed of going to Ireland -- technically I have been as our flight to Athens did stop in Shannon🤣🤣. Oh, I love the pillow cover!!
Throughout the UK and Ireland we call thrift stores, Charity shops. They're everywhere, on every high street, selling items for a whole host of charities. Why buy new when you can search for quality used items. I absolutely love charity shopping
I love that you went to Dublin. My family are from Ireland and my mum still lives there. I've always found Dublin a bit weird for charity shopping, more expensive than I'm used to but city prices are always higher. Glad you had a lovely adventure 💗🇬🇧
Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure and your treasures! My oldest best friend spent her 50th birthday traveling Ireland for an entire month and 11 years later she went back this spring. The beautiful doors on the row houses gave me inspiration to change the color of mine. I think they do that so they recognize their home after coming back from the pub! 😆 Cheers!
That is awesome! I heard that about the colored doors, too. Walking through the neighborhoods, I noticed that most of the homes are row houses that are brick or stone, so it occurred to me that the front door is one of the few ways homeowners have to individualize their exteriors.
It was so wonderful to see you had a great time thrifting abroad. Every time I go anywhere, especially to Europe, I pick up bits and bobs. Over the years, I've brought home several paintings that my dear hubby bet wouldn't fit in my luggage. I've learned to bring a tiny scissor, bubble wrap, and duct tape. ALL TRUE! My latest trip within the states yielded a large terracotta scarecrow pumpkin. The nice lady at the antique store boxed it up, and I carried on the airplane as proud as can be! Hubby carried on a very heavy but beautiful replica of Rodin's La Danaide. How I talked him into it is even a mystery to me. All I can say is that it has taken years of cultivation! I have a feeling that you also hold this same power over your hubby. Thanks for sharing your lovely trip.
Beautiful vacation and lovely finds. Love the landscape pictures, the lampshade and pillow lovely, pillow cover is perfect for your living room. Ireland is beautiful and so green due to all the rains they get. England, Wales and Scotland all refer to charity shops instead of thrift stores. I think it has a nice ring to it. So happy you enjoyed your holiday.
Oh my goodness, you were in Dublin !!! I wish I had have known so I could have pointed you in the right direction. Yes we call them charity shops here. Most old furniture is sold through estate sales or small local auction houses or on our version of Craig’s list. I lived just south of Dublin in Dun Laoghaire for about 20 years and it’s known for its charity shops. Lots of them with really great stuff. I found some real gems over the years. And there’s an auction house too. Anyway delighted you found some treasures. Btw the pine one is actually a weight from an old cuckoo clock.
I'm an alumna of Trinity College Dublin living now in the US for a very long time. Glad you got to visit TCD and enjoyed shopping at the charity shops. If you go back again, you can always mail items from Ireland back to the US. I'm sure some of the antique stores would help you in that regard. Also, as you live here, you can avoid paying VAT on anything that you bring back to the States. All you need to do is look for the tax free label on stores there and use your US credit card. When I go back, I always visit the Kilkenny Design Centre opposite TCD on Nassau St. The store is replete with Irish design items. There is also a great little café upstairs which I highly recommend.
What a wonderful opportunity! I have 2 cast iron pine cones which are cuckoo clock weights. Maybe your pine cone is also. I was hoping you would find out that the Europeans call their thrift stores “charity shops”. I’m so glad you did!
Wow awesome haul and vacation thank you so much for taking us along with you and your husband I loved everything that you brought home have a great week
Your excitement comes through the screen. Looks like a wonderful holiday. Thank you for sharing it. I loved your finds especially the blue and white jug with the peacock. Incidentally if you ever get to NZ our thrift stores are called Op Shops as in opportunity shops. 😊
What a lucky woman you are! And thanks for taking us along. Great video, you’re beaming! How did you ever bring all that stuff home? Wish you could have translated the euros into US $ to get a better idea of the costs. As for that pillow sham…ABSOLUTELY you had to but that!! It’s perfect in your English riding themed room! I thought this video was a nice change. Got to live vicariously through you.
The pinecone is a clock weight
Yes! We have a German cuckoo clock that has three weights!
My immediate thought, too.
Oh, yeah! That makes sense!
I have a German cuckoo clock, also, that has 3 pinecone weights. And another one that has 2 pinecone weights, also made in Germany.
I have them on all my cuckoo clocks
Pine comb is a cuckoo clock weight. Thanks so much for taking us along! So much fun and history ❤
That’s right! It sure is.
I came here to say the same thing.😊
A really big one too! Mine are all smaller.
Yep that's what I was going to say!
yes but great for decorating and use for all sorts
When I was in Scotland, I ended up buying a suitcase in a charity shop to bring home all my treasures. It was pretty cost-effective, actually. 😂
I did, too!
Lol....I did that in Paris.

It looks like an awesome trip. So happy for you. Love love love the little salt cellar. It was adorable ❤
Great trip! That pillow cover had your name written all over it! Ireland is for sure on my bucket list.
Sherry thank you for taking us along with you , probably my favorite finds were the lampshade and blue and white pitcher, so lovely ❤❤❤❤❤❤
When i went to Ireland awhile ago i bought a book in a charity shop. It was a young adult mystery printed a year befor i was born. I treasure it.
Can’t wait to see how you incorporate these lovely finds into your decor. How fun.
The salt cellar is a mustard pot, it has a little spoon missing
Oh Sherry I was so excited to see what you bought in Ireland, I was loving every step you took! Thank you so much for sharing, your wonderful tril and your lovely items! See you soon, much love! 💞
Ive been to England several times and had my purchases shipped home. At the time it was not too expensive, took awhile to get home.
I was thinking that she could've done that with the painting. 😢
I wish I had thought of that!
I wish I had thought of shipping it!
What an awesome adventure! The pillow cover is phenomenal and the blue & white plate is absolutely lovely. But I have to ask, how in the world did you get that beautiful lampshade home with no damage? 😀 Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. 💝
Thank you! My suitcase was huge! The shade was able to sit upright, and I stuffed the center with clothes.
So brave to pack all of that and it make it home in one piece.
Maybe she did like my sister. The only room in the car was on her head so she wore it.
The little cottage pot with a lid is for English mustard. I love all the things you bought. Thanks xxx
What a fun haul! Thanks for letting us shop overseas vicariously through you. ☺ How did you get it all home without anything breaking?
Hi Sherry im so glad you loved Dublin i live about 80klm from the city in County Wexford best regards from the South East Coast of Ireland
I love that you went to Dublin. My family are from Ireland and my mum still lives there. I've always found Dublin a bit weird for charity shopping, more expensive than I'm used to but city prices are always higher. Glad you had a lovely adventure 💗🇬🇧
Thank you! I thought the Dublin prices were very reasonable. I would have loved to shop in some smaller communities, but we did not rent a car.
Your Pine cone is a clock weight for a coo coo clock! Love it!
I bet the pine cone went to a coo coo clock.
👌🏻That's what I thought as well: that it was part of a (cuckoo or grandfather) clock...those weights were/are most often shaped as pinecones ✌🏻
I think so, too. We have an old German coo coo clock and it has two of these.
I think you’re right! I hadn’t thought of that!
We call thrift stores “Charity shops” in the UK…they are not nearly as good as your thrift stores. I’m alway envious when I see your thrift stores.
Me too! I'm desperate to book a flight to the states and take huge empty suitcases! 🤣🤣🤣 One day!
Hi Sherri, that cast iron pinecone is a weight for a coo coo clock. It hangs from the chain to wind the clock.
Thanks for sharing love, love loved watching👍❤️❤️
So glad! I sure enjoyed making it. It was such a lovely trip.
Love the plaid wallpaper and green paint on your wall. Really like the Irish book with the maps and advertisements.
I guess I should have asked you guys for tips before I left! I used every possible term that I could think of, except for “charity”! 😜
Beautiful finds. I like the animal plates and I love wood vases, tiny bowls so your wood box is super cute.
Thank you so so much for sharing your wonderful adventure and all the treasures you found ....God bless you always.

Good to know! Thank you!
Your excitement comes through the screen. Looks like a wonderful holiday. Thank you for sharing it. I loved your finds especially the blue and white jug with the peacock. Incidentally if you ever get to NZ our thrift stores are called Op Shops as in opportunity shops. 😊
Sherry you had a wonderful vacation! I can see why you are so excited! My husband is half Irish, he would love it! You got some awesome finds! 👍🥰❤️☘️
I love EVERYTHING you brought home! You have a great eye and taste. ❤ ☘️☘️☘️
Thank you so much!!
I'm glad you liked our charity shops I would spend hours looking for stuff especially when it's for charity,my home 🏡 town Dublin Ireland,
