Definitely want to defend more notoriously bad movies, so keep them coming! What's another bad movie you want to see get #5GoodThings? Leave your comments!
Jeff Doyen yeah it wasn't in the movie was it? I was waiting for that part and they cut it out. Probably cause we all made fun of it. Damn that was the best part.
Dear Andre, Your videos are such high quality, I've only been subscribed for a few weeks, but I already love your channel. Every day I come home from school, I check you in my subscriptions because they're always so good and I always look forward to them. Keep up the great work!
James Lawner I feel like it confirmed a connection and it’s in the same universe but those movies were set in the 20’s - 40’s and these are present day so a long time after.
as a "Foreigner" to the united states i want to say that the reason why bad hollywood movies like this are such a success is because in most countries national cinema has so low budget that is basically nonexistent or thends to be worse than hollywood or is like those boring movies snobs like to talk about but never actually enjoy or even see more than once. Is not that we LIKE those movies is that in many countries is the only movie media people have acces to so they go pay to see it and then refret they did right after the shit fest is over lol
As a fellow non-American I agree, big budget action movies are virtually non-existent in Sweden, and if you live in Sweden and want to see a movie that isn't a terrible comedy or pretentious drama, Hollywood action movies are pretty much the only option. It doesn't help that any Swedish actor with a shred of talent usually leave to work in Hollywood as soon as they get a chance.
very very true!. In mexico you see the same thing: Guillermo del toro, salma hayek, diego luna (cassian andor in rogue one). gael garcia (the guy from the science of sleep) others like the gay farmer guy who dies almost at the end of covenant. the director of Birdman, the revenant and so many other people. Eather you stay in your contry and do very little or be absorbed by hollywood and try to do better.
As a person who lived in Mexico for a while. I can agree, movies that I would never watch in the US, I was excited to watch just because they were action films.
Clout_racer maybe there were starting one then said sorry for my expression "screw it". Then decided to make it the Mummy movie. Note aside: Have not watched it as yet so not sure of the starting. Only like through trailers and such.
Movies like this remind me when designing for certain clients for a project. Starts off great but then goes back to the boss or head honchos to only be designed, torn apart, dumped with sadness and critiqued by committee and it's all down hill from there. 😔 #createbycommittee #whyohwhy #watcholdermummymovies #damn #notwatchinthough
love how you find humour in everything but would be serious when really needed, which is why i love watching your 'bad movies' movie review. and your laugh is contagious LMAO
weird how when you compare the amount of money a movie makes domestically (in the US for example) compared to internationally (you know, more than one country), the number most of the times is bigger. Makes you think
I agree with your last point SO hard. The Amazing Spider-man films, DC films, and now this are all guilty of pushing their shared-universe concepts way too hard way too quick. As with most American cinema, it lacks subtlety and nuance. These studios forget that the Marvel universe push didn't even exist in the first film, save for a post-credits sequence, in Iron Man. It was a fun, stand-alone film to set up the character, and the universe second. And when Marvel reversed their priorities to focus on the universe over the character in the next film (Iron Man 2) it spewed out what was arguably one of the worst films in the Marvel universe. They were able to recover because RDJ still carried the film and it was the first genuine attempt at this shared universe thing, so we didn't have a blueprint for how to do it well yet. Since then, MOST films focus on the characters (usually the heroes) before focusing on the shared universe. And the films have, for the most part, been better for it. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 seemed to have no real connection to the overarching plot of the Infinity Stones storyline, but was a very fun and enjoyable film (arguably, one of the best films thus far). I think Mummy could have avoided these issues had they focused on just making a good Mummy movie and kept that "Dark Universe" concept in the back pocket for either a sequel or a post-credits scene. Let the film stand on its own merits first before locking into a 22-movie arrangement that will take 10 years and billions in production to orchestrate. Because we don't all have time and money for that, do we? :D
Your "The Mummy" is also my "The Mummy". Time to rewatch on Netflix tonight! \o/ Also great video! I liked getting to see someone trying to find some redeeming qualities in the film. I'd love to see you do more of these! I'm still fairly new to the channel but suggestion(s) for future 5GT videos: Any of the pre-MCU era superhero films? Like Daredevil, Catwoman (good luck if you pick this one), etc.
As a huge fan of classic monster movies, it saddens me how they screwed it up. If they f**k up Dracula I will be pissed. So basically I'm going to be pissed If they make it
I just watched this film last night for the first time and honestly , it wasn't that bad at all. I'm actually surprised it has been shitted on so much. It's an entertaining film; nothing more, nothing less.
Ladi Da Yeah, if you ignore the bad stuff. Entertaining, it may be, but so was Batman v Superman, and I wouldn't consider either to be examples of how to start a cinematic universe. The Mummy in particular seems more focused on entertaining action and starting a franchise than telling a good story.
It's just a trend to hate on blockbuster movies that aren't Marvel. I bet you the same people who hate it now would've loved it if came out during the late 90s.
I like his Mission Impossible movies just fine. This movie was bad. No need to come up with elaborate theories as to why people don't like it, it's not as good movie.
Oh it's a great idea. Universal made this work from '31 to the late '40's with the original Monsters. But they made this a goofy action movie with Tom Cruise for some bizzarre reason. When it says from the LOGO...it supposed to be dark. I wonder if the same writers were on The Lone Ranger, since it had the same problems. Anyway, thanks for watching a turkey for two hours!
I didn't even realize till the end of the video that this movie came out 4 1/2 months ago and Andre is doing a review now😂 Which I am definitely not complaining about because this was hilarious! Hope you keep doing more videos like this Andre!
You are one my faves. I'm so glad I didn't see this in the theatre because I would've been kind of ticked off. But I have a thing for watching bad movies at home so I'll just rent it and see if I at least get some laughs out of it.
There was only one part I actually liked: the "fight" against Mr. Hyde. Other than that though, nothing else stood out. Even the mummy lacked the presence Imhotep had during the 1999 movie. Now if I were to line out the Dark Universe, here's what I would have done. Scrap The Mummy for now. Go for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde first, set up how he became who he was and how he coped with it. Second movie: Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 2: It's about his discovery of other monsters scattered all across the world. From well known beasts, to not so well known beasts. Not trusting them, he takes it upon himself to form his organization to monitor monster activity across the globe. There could even be little Easter eggs to upcoming films. For instance, maybe there could be a piece of Egyptian tapestry depicting the mummy doing what she did at the beginning of the film. And from there it could expand with The Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, all that good stuff.
When you mentioned the scenes they mimicked from the 1999 Mummy movie like the life absorbing and the dust/smoke/sand demon scene, all that tells me is that the '99 Mummy rules still apply. Especially when they show the Book of Amunra, both of these movies are in the same timeline. To me, that made a huge difference with whether I liked the film or didn't. It's a Tom Cruise Mummy movie. You're not going to Burger King to get Filet Mignon. I saw this movie with low expectation and hearing about how bad the movie is, and I wound up finding more things I liked about it than hating it. This movie compared to another movie that attempted to jump start a cinematic universe prematurely, Batman v. Superman, I feel did a way worse job than The Mummy. At least everything revolved around a single situation with the mummy and Tom Cruise. Yes, Jekyll is in the movie for the Dark Universe, but his character served a purpose for Tom Cruise with both of them dealing with literal inner demons. BvS threw Wonder Woman in there and then took a chunk of the film with the Darkseid nightmare and the Crisis on Infinite Earth reference with the Flash AND the surveillance footage showing off these characters before we even meet them. This movie did a better job telling a story about one event than BvS telling multiple stories with too many characters and yet BvS got 27-32% on RT and this movies gets 15%?
Hey Andre. Would love to see you do a review of a great movie, namely War for the Planet of the Apes. If you haven't already done it.....can't wait to hear your thoughts on that.
9:27 Andre you mentioned Beetleborgs!!!! Finally, I'm not the only person that remembers that show, it wasn't a Mandela Effect, I can rest easy now lol
I think it says a lot about this movie that I got distracted multiple times from the plot being described and was very focused on what was going on on the computer screen behind Andre that was playing games on it. I remember specifically that at one point I saw Donkey Kong on there and then another one about bubbles.
I agree with your fifth point. Though more on the "idea of a female mummy reboot." There is just way too much "deal with the devil" these days. She could have used dark or forbidden magic that increased if she killed loved ones.
8:00 Wrong, this movie's ideas were originally created by that film VAN HELSING, that is what the reboot was going to be about. - - Prodigium is based on its Knight's of the Holy Order. Yes, The Mummy played by Sofia Boutella should have had more screen time, but Tom insisted on more Cruise-control. Most fans of this film give Tom the half peace symbol
did you saw the monsters episodes of the ninja turtles? they made a reference to you when donatello when he consider go out in halloween as Smooth Donatello
I would've preferred a Dark Universe following one lead that connects each movie in an Indiana Jones type deal. An archaeologist who hunts monsters. It's simple, it'd be fun, it allows for variation between different films. As long as the lead is a strong character, it could work. Just make movies about a badass smart mouth who hunts monsters and learns lessons from it. The lead defending a village from the havoc of Frankenstein's monster only to discover it has emotions and instincts, so he's forced to reevaluate life and who's deserving of it, so he's forced to kill Frankenstein's only passion and child. Deep, but could be exciting at the same time. Being forced to decide whether he should kill the wolf man because it can't be contained, or spare the life of a relatively regular man with a wife and children. There are so many themes that could be discovered along with styles of movie making. Horror, mystery, drama, action, period pieces, heist maybe. There's so much that could be done and an awesome new franchise could be born from it. They went the wrong route on this one. I respect the idea though.
I don't know if anyone said so, 'cause there's a lotta comments down there, but I've watched it a couple times now, and when she kills the baby, there is a crying sound, but it cuts off sharply as she slices with the knife. So it is crying, but cuts off AS it dies.
My favorite funny moment of The Mummy: When Tom Cruise is about to be sacrificed and the lady makes a noise and everyone turns to her. TC: “Jenny!” J: “...Yeah?” TC: “Run!”
literally the only reason I'd watch this movie is for Sophia so thanks for informing me she's barely in it :( I really want to see her in more movies, she always seems so cool in what she appears in but she doesn't get enough screen time in anything
The movie is not the worst it was clearly trying to be like Marvel same thing with DC movies to bring it back all Universal monsters but take out the horror elements just doing an action movies I wouldn't blame Tom Cruise I do love the female mummy version that was pretty cool.
Yeah, like it said in the review, not as bad as my talking about it might seem. I just get super emotional sometimes ha ha! It just has elements that are entertaining and elements that are just frustrating.
I agree. When the frickin' mummy was in the movie it was actually good. Sofia did her job great. I hope she will have more vilianess roles in the future. She has some potential I think.
Right on point! This movie wears on you the longer it goes on and that blonde lady was basically a lamp. Not a sexy lamp, more like a romantic interest/ to be rescued lamp. Not horrible but not good, just kinda bland and meh
I actually got the chance to watch the original Mummy movie not too long ago, and it honestly doesn't share that much in common with the Brendan Fraiser remakes. The only similar things are Imhotep being the mummy, and him trying to bring back Anaksunamun. The original is a slow burner, and there's not even really any kills in it.
I actually liked it. I am pretty excited about the Dark Universe. I liked the last Wolfman movie, too, and it would have been cool to include that Wolfman in the new universe.
When I was watching the movie I was so excited about the ending because they said Cruise was going to get possesed by Satan himself, so I thought holy shit is satan going to become a universal monster played by Cruise or is Satan going to be the Thanos of this universe. Nope he became Satan for 1 minute and then Satan went away somehow. I hate this POS movie so much
I think the movie was good. I have the steelbook version. They should've choose a different main actor but oh well. Now the baby death scene, I think you are wrong, it was a cry of pain before sudden death. Yeah the part where Henry Jekyll was introducing Prodigium later or in a different film. I agree that the movie doesn't know what it wants to be but I still like it. Brendan Fraser Mummy is far superior.
Definitely want to defend more notoriously bad movies, so keep them coming! What's another bad movie you want to see get #5GoodThings? Leave your comments!
hi andre plz notice me i love your videos
Andre "Black Nerd" the Emoji movie #5GoodThings try and do that
Percy Jackson movies #5GoodThings
Bad video game movies
Andre "Black Nerd" The Happening
let's just keep the Brendan Fraser version of the Mummy, I like that one better.
They should give Sofia Boutella her own action franchise. She's wasted in these mediocre movies.
Lew Archer 1949 who???!
Xenofon Katifes the girl playing the mummy
Mediocre movies?
"I'm not from China, so I don't have to like it!" I laughed harder at that than I should have =P
Cyborcat Yea that made me laugh too
when was this in the video?
CamsEyeView towards the end of the video
Waaaah * baby sound effect* 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀 I needed that laugh 😂
Tom Cruise Screaming on the plane "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!" was the best part.
Haha that part cracked me up so bad.
They really should make a movie of just Tom Cruise running, would of been better than this gargage
It wasn't even in the movie. Also, I'm fighting to make that scream the next Wilhelm scream.
Jeff Doyen yeah it wasn't in the movie was it? I was waiting for that part and they cut it out. Probably cause we all made fun of it. Damn that was the best part.

Thank you! I promise there will be more to come! What made you subscribe?
I love your personality and enthusiasm
Andre "Black Nerd" reply to me, please?
Ok, who got an ad for that Tom Cruise "American Made" movie in front of this video? LOL!
Andre "Black Nerd" I've been getting it for every video lol
I just got a Stem course for kids commercial. Not quiet sure what's its about, even though the commercial was 4 minutes long.
Andre "Black Nerd" what are your thoughts on sonic forces so far?
Wow LOL
I didn't get any ad
Andre I am so happy that there is a new episode of 5 good things in bad movies
I liked the easter egg of the book of amunra connecting it to the Brenda Fraser ones.
I feel like that would just be upsetting.
That confused me a little, does that mean those movies are connected to this one??
James Lawner I feel like it confirmed a connection and it’s in the same universe but those movies were set in the 20’s - 40’s and these are present day so a long time after.
If they where connected, they could kill her with that book! Am i right?
Brenda Fraser?, is that her female counterpart?
as a "Foreigner" to the united states i want to say that the reason why bad hollywood movies like this are such a success is because in most countries national cinema has so low budget that is basically nonexistent or thends to be worse than hollywood or is like those boring movies snobs like to talk about but never actually enjoy or even see more than once.

very very true!. In mexico you see the same thing:

As a person who lived in Mexico for a while. I can agree, movies that I would never watch in the US, I was excited to watch just because they were action films.
Do I have to mention that Power Rangers flopped in China and Japan?
The beginning of the movie felt like an uncharted game
Clout_racer maybe there were starting one then said sorry for my expression "screw it". Then decided to make it the Mummy movie.
Note aside: Have not watched it as yet so not sure of the starting. Only like through trailers and such.
Too bad it wasn't that. Uncharted would make a good movie.
Kenneth Ayoob no it would not
+Clout_racer Yes it would lmfao. The games are played like Cinematic films. If you actually played them, you'd know that.
ShutYoMouth I have played them y do u think I commented that if it was a movie it would just be some Lara Croft like movie
YAY Double Toasted shout out!
Ash Hiz ikr
I kinda hope that Universal jukes us with this "Dark Universe" and we get a new "Monster Squad" instead of Dracula and his spooky Avengers knockoff.

Nailed it! Pretty much! You could see good in it but the "corporate vision" kind of brings it down. Also bad characters and script are bad.
Andre "Black Nerd" Righhhhtttt??? Lol. Crazy in these art/design/creative/cinema streets. Lol.
I wonder who was playing nes classic on the computer in the background
Chase T.V
Just wondered that same thing
It's the display/preview mode. When you leave it alone long enough it'll do that.
Are you still going to do your riverdale recap videos when the new season comes out??
Andre: They kill a baby and it made me laugh!
Me: Good Lord Andre!! This movie took a toll on you.
love how you find humour in everything but would be serious when really needed, which is why i love watching your 'bad movies' movie review. and your laugh is contagious LMAO
Anyone else noticed the computer playing the game in the backround?
weird how when you compare the amount of money a movie makes domestically (in the US for example) compared to internationally (you know, more than one country), the number most of the times is bigger. Makes you think
We so need a per country average.
Let the film stand on its own merits first before locking into a 22-movie arrangement that will take 10 years and billions in production to orchestrate. Only a couple of weeks until the next #WhatTheHellRiverdale.

As a huge fan of classic monster movies, it saddens me how they screwed it up. If they f**k up Dracula I will be pissed.
So basically I'm going to be pissed
If they make it
First Last Dracula untold was considered to be the first movie in the dark universe
Horror Chan And they retracted that claim. Same with The Mummy iirc.
ajmrowland Shame Dracula Untold was actually pretty good
Was anyone else as captivated by the Legend of Zelda gameplay in the background as me? (Or I suppose just all the gameplay)
Krazymintz
I was also
Me too!
It brought back memories. I remember getting my first sword from some man in a cave or a bush on that level, lol.
I just watched this film last night for the first time and honestly , it wasn't that bad at all. I'm actually surprised it has been shitted on so much. It's an entertaining film; nothing more, nothing less.

Shockwave 2 worse than Lone Ranger. Kurtzman.
Its ok, Dracula untold is way better tho
Robert Taylor
Yeah
Exactly! ❤
I enjoyed it so much
At least it actually HAD DRACULA.
Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein was already dark universe. No need for them to do it again!
5 Good Things in White House Down
Hey Andre can you please give your thoughts on what horror movie classic they should reboot and how!?
5 Good Things About The Emoji Movie
He already reviewed it. But he would do it again like that
I can tell you one thing, that it was over
clint lamberson everything
clint lamberson not a damn thing

How dare you 😭😭😭😭
I didn't even realize till the end of the video that this movie came out 4 1/2 months ago and Andre is doing a review now😂 Which I am definitely not complaining about because this was hilarious! Hope you keep doing more videos like this Andre!
Well it's better late than never to review this movie
It still exists, so it's still worth it, ha ha!
Andre "Black Nerd" Ha true Lol
Andre have you watched the OG Universal films? like from the 30s and 40s?

Are you going to react to the Gucci Mane premium skin for Raiden in Injustice 2?
Who's playing on the NES Classic in the background.

Kyle Lambert i🙋🏾 hiya!
Andre , Fam, did u know that there's gonna be another Nickelodeon Tmnt crossover with 80's turtles in Tales of the Tmnt, I'm So Hype
Who's playing in the background?
I saw the footage you were talking about with the crying baby, and the baby was crying, although it was more of a ACH! sound than a WAH sound.
I agree with you about don't change "The Mummy" ride at Universal, Katie Wilson will lead the charge, and a lot will follow.
Do 5 Good Things About Death Note

Can someone please explain what Andre realized at 12:48?
I think it says a lot about this movie that I got distracted multiple times from the plot being described and was very focused on what was going on on the computer screen behind Andre that was playing games on it. I remember specifically that at one point I saw Donkey Kong on there and then another one about bubbles.
I'm supposed to be writing an essay right now...oh well your videos are PRIORITIES
Hey Andre do you know the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentleman? That's my favorite monster movies
Sophia Boutela is one of the best parts
I agree with your fifth point. Though more on the "idea of a female mummy reboot." There is just way too much "deal with the devil" these days. She could have used dark or forbidden magic that increased if she killed loved ones.
I agree - Arman Varboosellu as Imhotep in Brendan Fraser's Mummy was the best one :)
we need more rants videos
Does this count? At least at the end? Ha ha!
Also I have to point out that I called Tom Cruise becoming the Mummy before the movie came out
did you saw the monsters episodes of the ninja turtles? they made a reference to you when donatello when he consider go out in halloween as Smooth Donatello

Yaye Black Nerd Reviews. I'm all here for it!!!! 🤓
I don't know if anyone said so, 'cause there's a lotta comments down there, but I've watched it a couple times now, and when she kills the baby, there is a crying sound, but it cuts off sharply as she slices with the knife. So it is crying, but cuts off AS it dies.
My favorite funny moment of The Mummy:
When Tom Cruise is about to be sacrificed and the lady makes a noise and everyone turns to her.
TC: “Jenny!”
J: “...Yeah?”
TC: “Run!”
literally the only reason I'd watch this movie is for Sophia so thanks for informing me she's barely in it :( I really want to see her in more movies, she always seems so cool in what she appears in but she doesn't get enough screen time in anything
I miss you Andre !!!!!!! AHHHHHH

They should have just started with Dracula Untold, then they wouldn't have needed to jam so much into this movie.
I really liked Sophia in Star Trek Beyond. She played a character named Jayla. I wish they made a whole movie about that character.
now i kind of want to see a full review on the brendan fraiser mummy
I actually got the chance to watch the original Mummy movie not too long ago, and it honestly doesn't share that much in common with the Brendan Fraiser remakes. The only similar things are Imhotep being the mummy, and him trying to bring back Anaksunamun. The original is a slow burner, and there's not even really any kills in it.
Great review! Thank you!
I hate this POS movie so much
There're good things about this movie?
I got it! 5 Good Things....
-Double Team
-Monster Trucks
I think the movie was good. I have the steelbook version. They should've choose a different main actor but oh well. Now the baby death scene, I think you are wrong, it was a cry of pain before sudden death. Yeah the part where Henry Jekyll was introducing Prodigium later or in a different film. I agree that the movie doesn't know what it wants to be but I still like it. Brendan Fraser Mummy is far superior.
