      @@hughdalton7622 That's kind of the point. Hes at 100th. Below Steve Jones, Lou Reid, Robbie Krieger, etc... Buckingham can play dozens of styles, has a truly distinctive original sound, can play multiple lines at once (something of which only a small handful of players are capable), was the primary writer and responsible for most of the musical arrangement for Fleetwood Mac, is responsible for dozens of hits without compromising musical integrity, etc... I could go on and on. There are people on that list above him who can barely even play basic chords. He should be up with Al DiMeola and Joe Bonamassa. Most. Underrated. Guitarist. Ever.

      @@MusicMissionary He started on a Mickey Mouse guitar age 7, listening to his brothers Elvis records. His parents saw he had talent and upgraded his guitar at age 8. The song is pretty difficult to learn on it's own..but once you get it, it's almost impossible to play it the way he does, as his picking style is unique to himself alone, and he adds so much of himself to the song it's impossible to mimic, even by skilled guitarists. He's kinda like Blind Willie Johnson...you can hear the notes he's playing , but you will never be able to mimic the style.

  • @xBlackout718x
    @xBlackout718x Год назад +51

    As a guitar player myself, I’ll say this is known as being one of the more difficult finger style acoustic pieces to play. On its own it’s difficult to do - you’ve got 1 guitar balancing rhythm, lead licks, and also keeping the bass line. So really, it’s doing what would typically be done by 2 guitars and a bass. It’s a hard one to play because your mind has to be balancing all 3 parts together. It’s hard to play slow, let alone at this BPM. I’m still trying to learn it. But then singing WHILE doing all that? He’s on another level.

    A master class in finger picking. There have been times when he was either forced out or voluntarily left the group and they needed 2 guitarists to replace what he does by himself. If I remember correctly this was supposed to be on a solo album he wanted to record but he was encouraged to record a Fleetwood Mac album that became Tango in the Night. THIS is why Fleetwood Mac AND Stevie Nicks were so good ... Lindsey arranged, directed, played the guitar, sang lead and background vocals and rewrote and/or embellished Stevie's to make them palatable/desirable to everyone. Without him, that band would have been easily forgotten, and I say that, NOT forgetting how much Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood contributed to the group. The band was floundering until Lindsey came ... and insisted that Stevie come along as part of the deal. You need to listen to more of the songs where Lindsey and/or Christine McVie are featured.

He's also one of the many star musicians in rock who can't read music. So if you're letting yourself get hung up on musical notation and theory ... maybe that's not your path. Try just relentlessly experimenting on your instrument, being patient, and letting your neural network figure it out. That IS a well-worn path to success.

    This is the definitive version of this song! It gives me chills every time I hear and see this and after the events of today (Christy McVie passed today), I am super emotional about hearing this. It’s great to see your reaction to this. It’s how I feel every single got dam time.

    My son is 16. He loves 70's and 80's rock/metal (Van Halen, Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc. I told him one day, "Hey, it's probably not really your cup of tea but check out Lindsey Buckingham 'Big Love'". We listened to it together and his eyebrows definitely perked up and he was like, "Dang..."

    All right! I've recommended this one to at least half a dozen RUclipsrs I watch, and you are the first to do it. It's awesome, isn't it? I wish I could play like that. This is the best version I've seen/heard.

    Lindsey can play with such intensity because his hands are cramping. Seriously, he is plucking the strings in a classical fashion with his thumb playing the 2 or 3 top strings in rhythm and his other fingers play melody/ It would likely not vary much as he is also using muscle memory to keep it up. He is a great guitarist.

    It’s echo and reverb put over acoustic. He’s by no means one of the best guitarists, but he’s very underrated and he wrote too. Love FM

    Watch the original music video and song for this one with whole group (late '80s) , less acoustics, it's pop-rock with some synths.
    This is a great version and very impressive as well. Brad/Lex, this is bluegrass style (fast country music usually with banjo and mandolins) . Also flamenco (Spanish music) guitar finger picking and fast arpeggios.
    So no more confuse it with blues (much slower and soulful) , ok? lol

      The album version of Big Love is probably as solo as this version or at least 95%. The song as well as the album started out as a Lindsey solo before he got persuaded by Mick (going bankrupt as usual) to turn it into an FM album. Lindsey credits: vocals, guitars, bass guitar, Fairlight CMI, synthesizer, drum programming, songwriter, arranger, engineer, producer. John and Mick are the only others credited on the song but how much they're on it or buried under how many layers is the question since Lindsey did bass and drum programming.

    Y'all should check out jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan. He sometimes plays 2 guitars or a guitar & keyboard at the same time. He doesn't have any hit singles (or any lyrics to figure out 😂), so you don't have to do a reaction video. Just watch him on your own time.
