I live in Florida- my medjool date palm flowered in late February and I was unable to get pollen until mid March- am I too late to pollinate? They have spread out and have little green pea sized things growing ( dates?) my question is should I even try to pollinate or wait till next year😔
Thanks for a fantastic demo on Date Palm propagation! I have a few questions -- kindly answer in numerical order. 1. If the MAIN tree is MALE, does it give male offshoots only? Or both male & female offshoots? 2. If the main plant is FEMALE, does it give female offshoots only? Or both male & female? 3. Can one identify if an offshoot is male or female? 4. Do you sell both Medjool and Deglet Noor offshoots in plastic pots?
Hello, thanks for watching. Here are the answers to your questions: 1- Shoots are true to the main plant. If male then offshoots are male. 2-If main plant is female, offshoots will be females. 3-Best way to id plant's gender is to wait for it to flower. 4-At the moment, we only carry Medjool. Unfortunately, these are too big to ship, local pickup only.
@@qctropicals Thank you for your quick reply. I live in the Philippines, but I also have a 2nd home in North Scottsdale. Perhaps I'll have a chance to visit your farm during my next trip to AZ. Till then, I wish you the best -- including the profitability and expansion of your date farm!
@@qctropicals Thanks for explications.Could you tell how much time does it takes from seeds to offshoot you separated? There are small plants in black pots near in video. Thank you.

I got off shoots that are about 5 ft tall of trunk 3 months ago the fonds are still tied up. So I shouldn’t see any new fonds till next year ?? So should o leave the fonds tied up still ?
I'll be making a video on that soon but same principle, it just requires a bit of digging. You can use a jackhammer with a shovel attachment to make it easier.

Maybe 1% of population would choose to use a hand saw and they are all here on YouthTube.
99.9% won't even try and just buy the plant somewhere :)

The yellow chutes that grow out of the palm. Do they die off? Or should I remove them?
those would be flowers
How can I make the date off shoot palm grow straight that’s already in the ground ?
it will straighten up by itself
Are these prone to sun shock? Every spring I move mine out and it gets faded and fungus spots.
full sun 120F all day once they're fully rooted. Until then, shade it.
@@qctropicals Thanks. Lake Ste Clair reflecting on my plants makes something more intense than a desert. Swapping out a trachy with a chamaeropps too.
Can a six foot tall Date Palm be removed and transplanted elsewhere using this same technique ?
ofcourse
@@qctropicals can it be air layered on the trunk?
