also, make multiple water collectors. and get to growing yucca asap. lashings/rope is absolutely keystone to this game. food plots are essential. fibrous plants regrow on every island as long as they are not covered. trees regrow after a few days. potatoes are vital for fuel. you WILL need fuel eventually. storage crates are also vital. youll need them to hold your food and healing items and possibly your ammo and spears.
my "base" had a small 2x2 hut, 2 smokers, 6 water collectors, 12 crop plots. my raft was a 6x5 raft with 1 motor engine, 1 sail, 2 sun screens, about 10 shelves filled with crates, and a few lanterns. i also had a small hole in the raft that held several other crates that i could not shelve. i had several small outposts made on several islands which was a simple 1x1 hut with a campfire and 2 water collectors and 2 crop plots.
the labeler or label gun is handy for when you get to sorting your resources. i usually label my crates to keep them organized by food and resource types. you CAN make a pile out of just about every raw resource (stones, leaves, rope, sticks). so every island that had an outpost has a pile of resources. when i need to make runs for something, i just hop from island to island stacking resources until i get what i need. one trick i use is to use my small shelters as pointers to my main base. since they are triangular in shape they make great guides to a base.
Love this info thank you!
i absolutely love watching you learn some of these games, it makes me happy to see the progress from it.
one last tip. this one is about crafting. make piles of everything you can and put them near each other. this is your crafting center. you DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE ITEMS IN YOUR INVENTORY in order to craft most recipes. if you want to lets say, craft a wooden hammer, you need stone, wood and rope. well if you have the rope pile, wood pile, and stone pile close enough to each other, you can craft directly from the piles. you can also have some of the items in your inventory, for instance you have the stone and rope but not the wood. so you stand near (there is a range to items and piles) the wood pile and craft the hammer using the resources from your inventory and the wood pile. so you can use items from inventory or items on the ground or in a pile. sometimes its good to have multiple piles near dedicated work stations. once you get to crafting planks yourself its good to be able to have a stockpile of stones and rope to make axes.
That rubber raft definitely USED to be able to float away! To great comedic effect, in some cases. Maybe they put a stop to that in an update? There are definitely a lot more features than there were for the last playthru I watched--that whole farming thing, for example--so I look forward to spotting the changes. Yet another reason I'm glad you're doing a playthru!
Yes it floats away…at least it seemed like it wanted to. I wasn’t about to get left behind 😆
Just a tip, if you don’t cut up the creature you kill, the meat will last indefinitely. Just cut meat off as you need it. You won’t be able to carry large animals, so you’ll have to cut them up to take the meat to another island. (You can leave dead animals and come back later for the meat.) Smoked meat will last indefinitely as well. Build a smoker.
In crafting, aim for refined spears. They will kill with half the effort of a crude spear.
The big, submerged ship at the second island has a TON of resources on it, but be careful, it’s easy to drown in it. Save before diving in it. If you can find an air tank, it will give you 3 full breaths underwater.
You can use fibrous leaves in your water still. Those leaves respawn.
Sharks can tip over your raft, not pop it. You need to build a proper raft asap.
Oh, and empty some crates and carry them with you. They only take 1 inventory space, but hold 5 item spaces. (Don’t forget, your inventory slots are stackable. You can hold up to 4 of same item in each space. (Some items, like fibrous leaves, you can hold many more.)
You can cook more than one piece of meat on small fire. Attach one piece, then drop other piece on ground. Move the piece onto the fire using your telekinesis. If you balance it in flames, it will cook. The smoker and hobo stove will cook several pieces at once.
Build a loom to make cloth.
Apologies if you discover any of these during play. I’m writing this about 40 minutes into the video, so you may figure out some of this before the end. 🙂
Build a loom to make cloth and it uses fibrous leaves. Also when you go to islands, take empty crates with you! Love how your playing this game, this is what got me into survival games
Yeah I think I found a decent island that I could build on so I will set up a good base with all the things!
In case you are not aware, you can knock the coconuts out of the tree with the spear if you launch it like a javelin. Maybe you like climbing the trees though?
Rawhide is used for making advanced tools. Save it up until you have the technology points to use it.
Glad you making this a series. Best idea is to build your main base on a big island where resources are plentiful. Oh and and never drink more than 2 coconuts at a time cause you will get sick. It's easier to just build some water stills. Food that's cooked will just have "Cooked" as its title so you distinguish it. Most if not all of the loot is underwater so when you build a raft and some shelves to it you'll be able to carry crates of loot back to build out your base.
Ps. boats do have anchors and can float away so be sure to deploy them if you don't bring them on shore. Also, palm fronds and fibrous leaves can refill the water still.
Yes I am searching around to find a decent island that I can call home and build a good sized home!
Like the gameplay, you are doing great and by the way you can drink from the water still from the top of the clothe without crouching to reach the coconut…
I would spend some time off camera having a good look at the build menu. Save , then have a thorough go at it then you can reload and lose no food, water etc. The game pushes you to go fast, fast, fast and you just don’t have time to find all you need while starving! Those of us that played from early access learned these things gradually as they were added, you have to learn it all at once!
This game is deceptively challenging. The soft music and beautiful surroundings lull you into thinking it’s a relaxed game and it will be once you know it well but for now, you are up against it big time! 😁🦈🤢🐍☀️
when it comes to coconut consumption, follow this rule: eat or drink 1 coconut, wait 10 ingame minutes, eat/drink the next piece. you do not have to mix in meat. you just can not consume multiple units of coconut at one time. space them out by a few in game minutes to not get the squirts.
Found that one out 🤣
Go diving on the ships
Absolutely, I dived a wreck and got two refined hammers and leather in one crate.
This game freaked me out when I couldn't get my raft to another island without a shark always upending it.
That’s so scary! At least the first couple times lol you have to get used to swimming with bosses I guess right 😆
🌴🌴🌴🌴
Need to be closer
Attack Giant Crab from behind it
Ah I tried throwing but it just breaks spears. They are fast! Kinda crazy 🤣
That crab has ridiculous reach.
Take wood home with you and palm
I want to find a better island I think. Hoping there are some bigger ones I can use for farming and building. Once I find the right one, I need to place shelves on my boat to store wood and loot. Soon, soon😉
😂😂 Boarskin..😂😂
🤣🤣…🤔…😂🤣
Make a pile of 3 empty coconuts and they become drinkable coconuts
Yes this is such a cool thing! Thank you for sharing 😀
1:13:51 bro said pp plant😂
Yeah bro that’s what it is 😂🤣
You are correct! It is pronounced "pp" !
cloth is made in the loom. its made from fibrous leaves.
Can we make anything from cloth? I guess I’m thinking about the armor from green hell.
I do know we can use it for crafting and such.
@@generalg1946 read through the recipes. some of them require cloth. certain things you may or may not need depending on how you want to play. once you grow yucca and get that going, cloth doesnt become an issue.
Not close enough
You can do it on land
I remembered that once I saw gameedge use spears like a lift to jack up one side of the raft so you can work on it easier. I end up using that method. It gets easier for me eventually haha😂
@@generalg1946 Nice. Are you playing today?
I try to rotate through a few different games, so as to add a bit of variety. somedays I don't have videos just because I didn't have time to record.@@holystone3736
