That is so inspiring that you’re trying a new activity like indoor climbing at 67!! Good for you 🥳🤩 I hope you have fun and fall in love with climbing 😊
Take advice from the pros and be careful of your tendons for the first year. If you feel a twinge, stop. Watch other women climbing for style. Have fun.
As an experienced climber (and recently a climbing instructor at a local gym for me), this was nice to see some straightforward ways of explaining ways to use some of the harder holds.
I turned 70 in March this year. I started climbing in July when my son suggested it might be fun. Still on level 1 & 2 so far. Jugs are definitely my favourite hold at the moment. Great tips, and very clear exolanations to help my progression to crimps, etc. Thank you. 👏👏
Thanks for the tips. I'm 44 and weight 260 lbs. I've gone to the climbing gym twice now and I'm liking the challenge. There's always somebody there to strike up a conversation and give good climbing tips.
I just went to my first indoor rock climbing gym with friends. I've never climbed before, so I learned a lot very fast. I was able to get to a tough V1 with what I now know as a crimp I couldn't manage. I'll be back in the gym next week now that I know what to do!
I'm bouldering and climbing indoors and outdoors for like 8 years now. I've seen a lot content on RUclips and other platforms and it's always great to see someone new doing these kind of things. It's refreshing. Keep going with this great work. Really like your style💪🏻 And to answer your question 😉 Slopers and pinches, especially in a compression style problem Greetings from Germany ☺
I mean, my favorite hold has to be the jugs. Mostly because a jug is generally what you'll be grabbing when doing dynos, but also because of the weird looks I get when I'm discussing a route and say something like "it's got nice big jugs that you can really get a good grip on" in public. That all being said, I did develop a certain soft spot for crimps after climbing for a while.
0:29 🤣🤣💪 hilarious. I just realized how small this channel is but the info is just so easy to digest and put into practice compared to big climbing channels
Thank you!! I started climbing a few months ago and I’ve been really trying to work on technique and not form bad habits. The section on crimps was especially helpful!
I’m a beginner climbing indoors for about 3 months and this was helpful to get the climbing language down so when I’m talking w other climbers I understand what they are saying and how to respond! at the moment I’m starting to really like crimps!
Thanks so much for the video! The tip about not using the full crimp is very important - I realised I was doing this a lot and straining my fingers without actually improving the strength in them much. I love your presentation and explanations!

Just in case anyone was wondering, when Micheal was counting with his fingers he made a 🤙 kind of gesture when he got to 6. This is because in Chinese culture they use that hand gesture to represent six, since it’s similar to the character for it.
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much! This was especially useful for me as i started climbing about 3 months ago. I immediately had better luck with the routes i could barely start before🎉
As a beginner I struggle now with big pinches that look a bit like bread loaves. Thanks for the video, it helps a lot understanding other content in English about climbing (I'm French and know nothing of these technical terms. Actually maybe I should learn them in French as well ^^).
I’m very new to rock climbing so I like the jugs a lot but I’m also exited to learn and get better with all the other holds me and my friend were just at our local gym and we’re having a ton of fun trying to figure out how to hold all the different holds, this was very useful thanks
Thanks so much for all the great content. I wish more gyms had the time and dedication to teach their craft like you all do. Keep up the amazing work and may God bless your efforts exponentially.
As a relatively tall guy in climbing (192) - a lot of boulder problems with slopers (which is usually set for people of 150-170cm height) are tough cookies, simply because often times I don't fit and can't fully stretch my hands to fully utilize them. But the ones where I truly fit (often times with some weird looking sit-ups or frog positions) - sloper boulders are the most fun for me, once you find these body positions. But at least Dynos and long reachy dynamic boulders are much easier, where I can do more static and safer moves, where others need to really commit :D
I live in a small town in tx and there are no gyms here but, on a trip to wisconsin it was a great experience to go to a gym when compared to a makeshift hill climbing thingy
I feel you somewhat glossed over hiw to distinguish volumes from big holds and slopers. Volumes usually have mounting holes so that you can mount other holds to the volume, which is why volumes usually count as part of the wall and are often allowed to be used on any route. This distinction is often used to distinguish between a very large hold that can only be used for one route and a volume that can be used for any route.
Wow i stubbled onto your channel, great content and nice energy. keep up the good work. I started rock climbing recently by attending rock climbing school for sport , lead and trad climbing. But since i would like to do indoor climbing once or twice per week for practicing and improve my movement, for my rock climbing weekends, i find this video very educational :)
This is SO USEFUL! I am 67 years old and am heading to my first indoor rock climbing adventure in a few days. Thanks so much! See ya on the wall!
That is so inspiring that you’re trying a new activity like indoor climbing at 67!! Good for you 🥳🤩 I hope you have fun and fall in love with climbing 😊
how was it?
Yay for you. I"m 69 and just started 2 weeks ago. SO MUCH FUN!!
Wow..salute!! Very inspiring..👏👏👏👏👏🙇♀️

Yes! I 100% agree
Just started indoor bouldering and this vid series is answering a lot of questions for me. Thanks
Thanks Dean! Do let us know if you have any other questions :)
I've been climbing like 4 times now and this makes me feel much more informed about the holds I've heard people mentioning

I am a late bloomer too, you will enjoy it and do what you can, in time you will get there.
You had me at, “tiny chips of pure evil” - seriously, I’m a fan for life starting today

Slopers and pinches, especially in a compression style problem
Greetings from Germany ☺
You guys have a really comprehensive and technical approach to climbing. Good job!
I’ve never climbed in my life. Yet, I’ve had a desire to learn. Thanks for the useful and easy to follow video.
Super awesome video! Thanks guys! :D
Crimps are just my favourite!

the production value of the video is so high!!! thanks guys, really helpful video

Really helpful. I just started in a local rock gym. SO MUCH FUN.
Slopers are the ultimate confidence killer.
Great video!
Rock climbing is so much fun, it’s a great workout. Need to have a lots endurance.
Thank you!! I started climbing a few months ago and I’ve been really trying to work on technique and not form bad habits. The section on crimps was especially helpful!
I'm a complete beginner to climbing and my sis and I just started going to our local gym! This'll come in handy, ha. Thank you!
I’m a beginner climbing indoors for about 3 months and this was helpful to get the climbing language down so when I’m talking w other climbers I understand what they are saying and how to respond! at the moment I’m starting to really like crimps!
Happy climbing 😊
Started climbing 2 months ago and I ALWAYS come back to this video so I know what I’m talking about
Thanks so much for the video! The tip about not using the full crimp is very important - I realised I was doing this a lot and straining my fingers without actually improving the strength in them much. I love your presentation and explanations!
I just started bouldering last week. This video is super helpful. Thank you!
You had me at, “tiny chips of pure evil” - seriously, I’m a fan for life starting today 👇🎉
Finally a way to actually use pockets without looking like a fool, great vid
0:29 hilarious. I just realized how small this channel is but the info is just so easy to digest and put into practice compared to big climbing channels
I love your interpretation of the meaning of jugs, not what I’d use but I guess it works!
Just in case anyone was wondering, when Micheal was counting with his fingers he made a 🤙 kind of gesture when he got to 6. This is because in Chinese culture they use that hand gesture to represent six, since it’s similar to the character for it.
Perfect! … just now taking up the sport. Love the detail, brevity, and the fun thoroughness!
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much!
This was especially useful for me as i started climbing about 3 months ago. I immediately had better luck with the routes i could barely start before🎉
I just went rock climbing for the first time and I saw those rocks!
Went rock coming for the first time this past weekend. Definitely liked jugs the most lol
As a beginner I struggle now with big pinches that look a bit like bread loaves. Thanks for the video, it helps a lot understanding other content in English about climbing (I'm French and know nothing of these technical terms. Actually maybe I should learn them in French as well ^^).
Yeah, whenever I see those big pinches, I do everything I can to avoid them. Even trying to skip them to reach the next hold. They are my kryptonite
This is brilliant, i keep wondering what is the right way to do this , esp as I'm doing this alone, and no one to learn from
I’m very new to rock climbing so I like the jugs a lot but I’m also exited to learn and get better with all the other holds me and my friend were just at our local gym and we’re having a ton of fun trying to figure out how to hold all the different holds, this was very useful thanks
Awesome video! I have been using too much full crimps and now I realize that they are a last resource gripping technique (for beginners at least)
Thanks so much for all the great content. I wish more gyms had the time and dedication to teach their craft like you all do. Keep up the amazing work and may God bless your efforts exponentially.
Definitely not a beginner here. But i watched it because you guys kept the video so engaging

Great video, this was really helpful for me as I'm just getting started with bouldering and indoor climbing
Thank you so much, I enjoy bouldering, it’s great exercise and also a great atmosphere.
Awesome video 🙏 as a beginner my favorite handhold is Jugs 😁

I live in a small town in tx and there are no gyms here but, on a trip to wisconsin it was a great experience to go to a gym when compared to a makeshift hill climbing thingy
Thanks for the tips on how best to hold them. I find slopers the hardest, but will try your tips next time
Slopers are my favourite 🙄🙄 so useful! thanks!
Thanks so much for this video. I'm new to climbing and hearing the terms and learning about their grips has been such a help.
Thank you. I’m a new climber. I’m currently at 7a+ but I’m getting better
Love Michael's reactions and way of explaining. super cool dude
Super helpful as a refresher! Just started climbing and it’s very useful to have such clear outlines. Thank you

Thanks guys, this was really useful. I struggle with pockets 😅
Crimps and pinches are my favourites! I have small hands and a giant thumb! :D
