The direct cut gets funky often, so I only use it when I have one item to cut. I typically scan the item into the canvas workspace right on the cutting sheet, create my outline there, and send back my cutting file. This way, I can get everything cut together without constantly adjusting. I have a DX model and the direct cut is still something that works better with a clear outline. You can use a clear sheet and draw the outline over it and scan them together, then take the clear sheet off and and you should have a better cut.
Oh wow, thank you so much for the tips, I will definitely give that a try. I have some more things I'm working to scan and cut, so this was perfect timing to see. THANK YOU!!
