Good news: if you have a fully built Tighnari you already have Sethos weapon and gear ready, besides the Goblet. Bad news: if you want to play them both in a duo carry setup then you still gotta farm and upgrade a 2nd set.
This is my recent problem... I got Tighnari from standard and Sethos on his release pretty much around the same time and have been struggling to build them both. Ended up leveling two Slingshots and have one decent Wanderer's Troupe set and one barely functional one. And I really want to play them in a quickswap team. So yeah, optimizing that is going to take a while.
I am sort of phsycially incapable of sharing builds for some reason, and so I work myself to death to farm and level stuff for everyone individually even though that's largely unnecesary 💀
@@inixinteyvat In my case at first I gave Sethos the same build as Tighnari (I'm an old player so I had many Wanderer's pieces and enough Slingshots to R5 two of them, thou Sethos's is not fully levelled yet but anyway), but since Sethos relies on EM much more than Tighnari, I switched two of his pieces for a 2 piece Gilded Dreams. Works just fine. 👌

Trying to keep up with who had what, let alone remembering to switch back in the first place is a bigger pain than farming for me. I hate it when you perform worse in a battle because you forgot to switch stuff back so you have to quit the challenge, change and redo it all ALL OVER AGAIN. Nah, my dudes, everyone's getting their own stuff, thank you. 😂

oh Sethos, I love everything about this boi - his design, english VA, story, that fact that he came to me in just 3 pulls, those beautiful hair, how epic he was in that fight with Cyno, his spare but hilarious interactions with Hat Guy.... everything, but his playstyle. For that reason, thank You for Your guide and, most of all, those team suggestions. Once I build my Thoma, I'll give Sethos another try.
There is technically a 3rd playstyle where you ignore 90% of his kit. It's his CA playstyle, but you only use Lv1 Charged Shot instead of the Lv2. His Lv1 CA consumes 50% less energy so you can trigger 2x more Aggravate than usual. It deals more damage than his intended playstyle but at the cost of having no AoE. It's also a bit harder to use due to its strict timing.

I'd say check out Soluna also, they're a Sethos main by now pretty much. They don't really do "guides" more just showcase off-meta teams and explain niche concepts

Honeslty same! My favourite part about making these videos, is that even though I don't start until I've already playeed them a fair bit so I'm somewhat comfy witht hem and know what to say, I always end up diving even deeper and forming a strongr bond with them! 💜
Absolutely love this guide. I actually did build both my Clorinde and Sethos at the same time, but with no one making any guides for Sethos at the time I basically just swapped the two in and out of my teams which naturally made Clorinde feel way better. The Diona hyperfridge team looks like a lot of fun and gives Diona's EM boost an actual purpose, so I'm gonna try that one out later!
Yeah Diona's gotten to shine a lot in my teams lately because I finally gave her her own set of artefacts and I'm working on doing her final ascension even! Poor kitty has been sort of awkwardly stuck in an eternal loop of having her artefacts stolen by everyone who needed HP pieces for the past 4 years 😅
I love everything about him. I wish he could be played as both bow and polearm user like Childe (that cutscene of sethos vs cyno was so cool), but that's asking too much since he's just a 4 star
I genuinely wish I liked playing charge-attack style DPS units. It's one of the reasons why I haven't pulled for Lyney and Ganyu, and it's why I haven't built Sethos. That style of gameplay just feels so...Clunky . And that's a shame for me cause I do like Sethos a lot 😅
Yeah I think the reason I'm so comfortable with those playstyles is that before I ever touched genshin I had hundreds of hours on other games with archer characters (all of which I play with controller so the amining/shooting is very similar), whereas if it's not a playstyle you're used to it definitely makes you feel vulnerable and slow compared to melee weapons! (and it is both)

The guide is concise and easy to understand and even though I already (mostly) built Sethos months ago and know all the info you mentioned, I watched the whole thing because your voice and delivery is so engaging. I, unlike you, did not manage to get Clorinde :( but I did get Sethos C2 on her banner so I've been slowly building him since. I still need to crown his talents and optimize his artifacts but I also finally got his c6 on Nahida banner and got Nahida too so I'll be able to give him better teams too. I hope more people give him a try! For me, he's definitely one of the most fun characters to play. I hope to be able to clear Abyss with him in the future :3
he's definitely one of my favorite 4* to play, i love when characters have 2 different playstyles to chose from or mix and match to the best of your ability (i was super obsessed with freminet being able to control his cryo or phys ratio and if you wanted pure phys or cryo skill spam). i never get bored playing sethos, it feels engaging and rewarding every time =) i use hunter's path bow on him because it matches his eyes
I completely ignored him on his first banner when I got Clorinde (funnily enough I don't even need her, I pulled because I am a man of culture). On his rerun I was blown away by his trial and I was lucky enough to get a copy. One of the most satisfying characters to play, he can trigger Kirara's c4 with the CA, and those charged shots are spectacular, and that hair! I might keep him at 70 because I found myself enjoying prolonged fights much more with him in the overworld.
THE HAIR INDEED! Also yeah it's actually quite nice to keep characters you won't be using in the abyss at a slightly lower level for OW fights! Sadly my eternal desire to have a full roster of 90s is conflicting wiht that a little...
The fact that his best build is a gacha 3* weapon and wanderer's troupe AND he's an EM scaler, genuinely makes him the F2P saving grace. On an Experiment account (to reconnect with the pure newbie F2P experience, lol) I got him, and I was flabbergasted at how much he carried the account. Admittedly it's because I have pre-existing game knowledge and I know how to make full use of his kit, while a newbie wouldn't. But still !!!
Already built him, got him c6 at Clorinde banner. On TF (to get the time reduction on skill) with focus on EM and ER. The idea is to burst and then shoot the charged shots once it is over. at level 80 him and Slingshot and talents only at lvl 5 and he already carries the dendro cube on his own with a little help from Yae.
actually you can both use playstyle in one rotation.. just by adding one character.. dori... use burst first.. then after your burst you have a full energy again to charge shot.
I remember enjoying sethos in his trial on his debut, but of course as i was pulling for clorinde he did indeed get forgotten 😅 i also only did cyno’s 2nd story quest at the start of nahida’s birthday event, so i had well and truly forgotten him. This makes me excited to eventually build him though!

I wasnt playing when he and Clorinde came out, but i managed to get him at random on either a standard banner pull or a limited off-banner pull (i dont recall which now) and i IMMEDIATELY fell in love with him and his playstyle! (Was that partially because i was a brand new player who only had Lisa as an electro character at that point? ...maybe 😅 But i think i would have loved him regardless!) So you can imagine my excitement when he turned out to be one of the 4 stars on Nahida's banner alongside two other characters that work fantastically with him (and of course Nahida herself)! Now ive got him at c2, my beloved Radish Archon, AND a bonus Kuki and Xingqiu (who will eventually alternate with Barbara as his hydro applicator/pseudohealer... At least until i get Childe lmao) for a truly fantastic team combo! Next up: get the Scion in the next battle pass because as much as i enjoy having the Stringless's EM boost, my boy deserves to have what essentially looks like a signature weapon on him (and an ability to actually crit more than once a century rip)

This is good to hear. I have a bunch of him. Not sure how many, but one day I will focus building him. I remember when I used to get excited about a new character I wasn't expecting. Now it's like when parents accidentally get pregnant for the 4th time and primarily think about how much the new kid will cost 😂
I actually 36 star with him rhis morning wasnt even paying attention to him just wanted to try a new character but i was surprised hes good i actually like him😅
It's worth mentioning his bust gameplay gets significantly better in terms of both damage output and fun if you movement cancel or dash cancel after the second shot of his burst. I've found dashing helps me to maintain maximum damage during his burst while also positioning myself to line enemies up. You can just press the attack button twice while holding walk in any direction, and that will automatically movement cancel and let you continue firing without the lengthy jump animation of his 3rd shot.
Sethos is the third strongest DPS in my account just next to Neuvillate and Alhaitham. I use Elemental Mastery build with mostly Hyperbloom teams. I would like to try him with Ororon and some hydro characters tomorrow, if I am lucky.

I was genuinely confused when he was released and people were calling him a 3 star like there are far far worse characters. These content creators are so damn dramatic
ugh I think some people do anything to stir the pot and get attention🤦♀Shooting themselves the leg imo though, because sooner or later people are not going to trust their opinions at all!
Considering Kuki is the only four star I'm missing and I hit the 50/50 and got Qiqi super early, and I'm now 50$ in with a c4 Sethos from c0, one c7+ Xingqiu and one c7+ Yanfei, and soon probably C2 Nahida and C6 Sethos, I really need to build this little bastard so his c6 isn't just a waste for Hoyo to taunt me. The fact he's electro too so I keep almost thinking he could be Kuki... also I'd love Kuki cons so not even being able to get c0 after almost two years of playing with every other four star, it is pain :( They owe me c6 Chevreuse on the Mavuika banner since they didn't put her on with Clorinde for me to get any cons but even her I got c0 right at the end of her debut, since they also didn't put her with the hot new Fontaine character so I couldn't pull for her really.
@ I toooottaaaallllllyyyyy didn't spend a little bit of money but I finally got her in the last 24 hours. Actually did get C2 Nahida first! No more Sethos so he's stuck at C4 for now, I think I got two more Xingqiu who's been C6 for a while now. Nice thing is next time I get a Sethos I have something to be excited about still
8:36 Honestly. For his NA playstyle, Virridecent hunt’s passive pull is kinda nice on lighter enemies. Honestly, maybe a quickbloom team will be bery good for him. Nahida, furina and Dori. Dori is underrated and does a ton of healing. She also gives the infielder energy which sethos can use. Gotta build my dori and try it out (been meaning to build her but every time something new comes to mind that i deed to do/build 😂)
I am so guilty of having such a blast~ with Clorinde too that I ignored him - I’m still not such a fan of bow characters yet love his personality, great motivation to re-explore and build! Your reviews are always thoughtful, recognizing and exploring character’s as the nuanced individuals that they are and I like how you provide a critique while giving them merit where possible, it’s so refreshing to see how you make characters shine and present them instead of writing them off due to either be less damage heavy than desired or the bane of being “not top META”

nice!! i was just hoping you would make a video about him. i got him off the clorinde banner and i was wondering what to do with him. though, my main question when he appeared was what i should know him from. i expected him to show up in some event storyline, but didn’t find any. not even where the temple should be that he was apparently connected to. turns out i had to do cyno’s quests.
Being forgotten is so true lmao. I have all my characters at companionship 10 and i totally forgot about him and he's the only one at level 1 companionship.
Sethos is the 2nd 4 star character I intentionally get to C6 because I really love his character. His personality is like a mixture of wise grandpa and reckless boy lol
I love Sethos as a character, but sadly I already have Cyno, Raiden and a C3 Keqing, and since he's not upgrade over any of them and I don't Need more veriety, he'll unfortunately remain unused on my account.
My current favourite Sethos team is Sethos, Nahida, Fischl and Lynette, which I'm exploring Natlan with. I know Kazuha is a better buffer, but in my opinion, his crowd controlf doesn't feel enough and Sethos is left too vulnerable. I really like Lynette's burst taunting enemies and infusing Electro, plus providing tons of particles for Sethos! I really like this team comp, it feels strong (admittedly I have C2 Nahida) but I still recommend this team for others to try!
I Fell In love with Him but I only got Alhaitham before the Banner went away. When He came back I was joking With my Friends that I'd get a C1 Nahida Before a copy of Sethos. I Didn't get a C1 Nahida and got my Sethos and Then I stopped Wishing.
100% same experience - I was really looking forward to his burst gameplay version, but ended up loving the charged shot version a LOT more! He's super fun and surprisingly strong 😁
I built him (lv 90 with decent artifacts) but he's still not that good in abyss. Overworld would be fine but the glowing hour glass always bothers me. I love his design but I wish he'd been a 5 star and didn't have that hourglass outside of combat.
Yeah I don't like external buff/kit indicators outside of combat either... one reason I dislike the battlepass claymore for example is the cirle of tiny swords surrounding your character when your stacks are maxed lol. Wish you got somehow easily toggle them on/off!
With Xilonen in game, Keqing aggrevate completly forced Sethos out of the meta. Keqing, Fischl, Xilonen, Nahida is just way stronger and easier to play. I would love to have some strong 4* dps other than 1.0 overbuffed characters, sadly, there are not characters like that in game. When i compare him with dmg output and similar teams, Tighnari is in question .... and if i compare these two, i would much rather use Tighnari. I didnt forget Sethos, i dont like hate or love him, he is just there and hes meh :/

It's worth mentioning his bust gameplay gets significantly better in terms of both damage output and fun if you movement cancel or dash cancel after the second shot of his burst. I've found dashing helps me to maintain maximum damage during his burst while also positioning myself to line enemies up.
You can just press the attack button twice while holding walk in any direction, and that will automatically movement cancel and let you continue firing without the lengthy jump animation of his 3rd shot.
Sethos is the third strongest DPS in my account just next to Neuvillate and Alhaitham. I use Elemental Mastery build with mostly Hyperbloom teams.
I would like to try him with Ororon and some hydro characters tomorrow, if I am lucky.

alas, I wasn't so lucky, i've now spent 60 pulls and still no batboy 😔 (lost a 50/50 in the middle of that because I forgot I was close to pity after chasing sethos haha)

Yeah that's a wild take! There's only a couple of characters who are THAT bad... Kaveh for example is legitimately disappointing 😢

Considering Kuki is the only four star I'm missing and I hit the 50/50 and got Qiqi super early, and I'm now 50$ in with a c4 Sethos from c0, one c7+ Xingqiu and one c7+ Yanfei, and soon probably C2 Nahida and C6 Sethos, I really need to build this little bastard so his c6 isn't just a waste for Hoyo to taunt me. The fact he's electro too so I keep almost thinking he could be Kuki... also I'd love Kuki cons so not even being able to get c0 after almost two years of playing with every other four star, it is pain :(
They owe me c6 Chevreuse on the Mavuika banner since they didn't put her on with Clorinde for me to get any cons but even her I got c0 right at the end of her debut, since they also didn't put her with the hot new Fontaine character so I couldn't pull for her really.

@ I toooottaaaallllllyyyyy didn't spend a little bit of money but I finally got her in the last 24 hours. Actually did get C2 Nahida first! No more Sethos so he's stuck at C4 for now, I think I got two more Xingqiu who's been C6 for a while now. Nice thing is next time I get a Sethos I have something to be excited about still
8:36 Honestly. For his NA playstyle, Virridecent hunt’s passive pull is kinda nice on lighter enemies.
Honestly, maybe a quickbloom team will be bery good for him. Nahida, furina and Dori. Dori is underrated and does a ton of healing. She also gives the infielder energy which sethos can use. Gotta build my dori and try it out (been meaning to build her but every time something new comes to mind that i deed to do/build 😂)
It's interesting how Hoyo has been able to make five electro bow characters and figured a kit for each of them.
I am so guilty of having such a blast~ with Clorinde too that I ignored him - I’m still not such a fan of bow characters yet love his personality, great motivation to re-explore and build!
Your reviews are always thoughtful, recognizing and exploring character’s as the nuanced individuals that they are and I like how you provide a critique while giving them merit where possible, it’s so refreshing to see how you make characters shine and present them instead of writing them off due to either be less damage heavy than desired or the bane of being “not top META”

as a sethos main who has 185% ER, it's also a great stat for him in my experience. his burst never has any downtime
nice!! i was just hoping you would make a video about him. i got him off the clorinde banner and i was wondering what to do with him. though, my main question when he appeared was what i should know him from. i expected him to show up in some event storyline, but didn’t find any. not even where the temple should be that he was apparently connected to. turns out i had to do cyno’s quests.
Yeah he hasn't had any other appearances yet.. I hope he will though!
Being forgotten is so true lmao. I have all my characters at companionship 10 and i totally forgot about him and he's the only one at level 1 companionship.
Sethos is the 2nd 4 star character I intentionally get to C6 because I really love his character.
His personality is like a mixture of wise grandpa and reckless boy lol
I love Sethos as a character, but sadly I already have Cyno, Raiden and a C3 Keqing, and since he's not upgrade over any of them and I don't Need more veriety, he'll unfortunately remain unused on my account.
I got a couple cons and he is actually really fun to play with! I was pleasantly surprised!
I was pulling for his cons and got chlorinde lol. I hit him c4 on his rerun and still use him
My current favourite Sethos team is Sethos, Nahida, Fischl and Lynette, which I'm exploring Natlan with. I know Kazuha is a better buffer, but in my opinion, his crowd controlf doesn't feel enough and Sethos is left too vulnerable. I really like Lynette's burst taunting enemies and infusing Electro, plus providing tons of particles for Sethos! I really like this team comp, it feels strong (admittedly I have C2 Nahida) but I still recommend this team for others to try!

I Fell In love with Him but I only got Alhaitham before the Banner went away. When He came back I was joking With my Friends that I'd get a C1 Nahida Before a copy of Sethos. I Didn't get a C1 Nahida and got my Sethos and Then I stopped Wishing.
I've already built him at c0 but I really want to get his c6. The current nahida banner only gave me 2 dupes so far...

I built him (lv 90 with decent artifacts) but he's still not that good in abyss. Overworld would be fine but the glowing hour glass always bothers me. I love his design but I wish he'd been a 5 star and didn't have that hourglass outside of combat.
Yeah I don't like external buff/kit indicators outside of combat either... one reason I dislike the battlepass claymore for example is the cirle of tiny swords surrounding your character when your stacks are maxed lol. Wish you got somehow easily toggle them on/off!

Slingshot is pretty easy to get tho
I tried a bunch of weapons but settled on slingshot because it was the best option for me! it's a 3 star so you'll get enough copies really quickly!

With Xilonen in game, Keqing aggrevate completly forced Sethos out of the meta. Keqing, Fischl, Xilonen, Nahida is just way stronger and easier to play. I would love to have some strong 4* dps other than 1.0 overbuffed characters, sadly, there are not characters like that in game.
When i compare him with dmg output and similar teams, Tighnari is in question .... and if i compare these two, i would much rather use Tighnari.

Exactly, she is way stronger and easier to play in aggrevate teams. With Xilonen C2, you can shorten her ult CD down to like 6s lol
