I love Sucrose - she's one of the most underrated 4 stars in the game but one of the best swirly people ever! I also love that she's the only one that her trauma for anemo isn't caused by death but by feeling unvalued and unwanted due to being unsure of herself in social situations and her extraordinary intelligence. Her trauma is that of being the bullied gifted kid who gets left out of the other kids her age doing things because they're jealous of her intelligence at least imho of how I view it. Windblume and seeing how lonely she was made me so happy when she made friends with Collei - she deserves a good sweet friend who's smart in her own areas. They were so cute and awkward that I loved the friendship because Sucrose just needed someone who saw her and wanted to know her. 🥺 All the love for Sucrose 💜
I know people like to meme on it, but anemo characters are not all traumatized nor are the other elements spared from traumatic backstories or vision stories. It's common in anemo because it has the imagery of being freed from a restricted past, but that doesn't have to be about trauma or death. Jean, Cloud Retainer and Faruzan are pretty good examples. But ah sorry .... Yes I agree we stan Sucrose around here she should be able to make friends and not overthink it Collei-style.

Jean suffered her parents' divorce and didn't talk to her little sister for a long time (this is considered a stretch by the community, I don't agree tho)

The better fit for her anemo-ness is being trapped (literally) but never giving up and then being freed. She's like a color scheme away from geo. It might seem sad _if it happened to us_ but that's not the same thing. Cloud Retainer got to choose her vision as an illuminated beast and went with Anemo because her name literally is The Perfected Lord who Retains the Clouds by Borrowing the _Wind_... And also she's a big crane! The choice is obvious. Her past is no more or less exciting than any other contracted adepti with the exception of the youngest ones. Jean might need some therapy to work past her inability to connect with her own sister but those issues don't seem to be from the divorce (they would have grown apart anyway). She got her vision from doing her job well and is just very ... Mondstatian? Dandelion Knight get an anemo vision there doesn't seem to be much more than that to it.
Since Kazuha is my favourite I've definitely neglected Sucrose a fair bit... going to get her some better artifacts so I can go EM/EM/EM instead of ER sands, since once she has a stronger build I'll definitely use her more!
I love these guides!!! They're the perfect length and the perfect balance of depth -- enough depth to experiment and understand all the mechanics of a characters, but not tryhard enough to make the game not fun. Please never stop making them!!
I'm playing a lot with Faruzan on all of my accounts (yes she is that fun to play with), and let me tell you: people only talking about her issues more because this is how sour the community became since Sumeru. Her C1 can be patched with Sacrificial Bow, and she is very flexible in terms of gameplay. You can use her as support, but she is also capable as driver/crowd control and even self-buffing DPS. She doesn't replace Sucrose, but I find her more suited for my playstyle (aimed shots, lots of tactical control, focus on overworld combat).
For me personally Venti is in the shadow of Sucrose. Ever since we can skip Abyss level 9 and 10 Venti is basically benched permanently while I still enjoy a bunch if Sucrose teams.
I use Kazuha around 80% of the time. But I just keep going back to Sucrose every once in a while. She is just a fun character to play against smaller mob. She's easy to build, and her skill + burst works like a stun lock against enemies that can be staggered. And her damage potential is actually higher than C0 Kazuha on certain teams!
6:19 minor correction, her burst can absorb an element at any time, but it must come directly into contact with a creature (player or enemy) applied with that element pretty much right in the middle of the burst AOE. Personally I don't consider her burst to be that important. The absorbtion and buff is definitely nice when you can get it, but generally I only use her on teams where it can't interefere with reactions (aggravate/electrocharge,) so I just kinda toss it and whatever happens happens. Trying a setup that relies on it sounds like pain 💀💀
The fact that she’s a catalyst user makes her a really good value. Aside from Sac Frag, she can use Thrilling Tales to buff your Atk scaling DPS, or prototype amber of you wanna expand her utility to also healing, and she’s my personal favorite as a Taser team driver. Obviously Heizou also exists but she beats him in crowd control by a lot. After really understanding how to use her, i ended up using her more than my Venti 😅

I think the one who vanished just moved away or something? I guess that could be considered trauma, but to me it felt more like the typical thing where people grow apart, and she just took it to heart and poured her energy into her work 👀
I think they just "drifted apart" essentially, but it left her feeling abandoned and confused, feeling like she doesn't get people at all (relatable heh)

One thing to note about Sucrose is that she’s a rare 1.0 4* that can’t be purchased from the shop. You can reliably buy Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, or Fischl, but there’s 0 way to guarantee Sucrose or her cons.
I still consider Sucrose to be the 3rd best 4star overall in a vacuum (after Xingqiu and Bennett). Anemo just has more competition and you almost never need 2 anemos on the same team, at least not for the role Sucrose fills. Also, I don't think Sucrose's burst is necessary, so those ER issues don't really matter imo. The burst is nice to quickly toss out if it's available, but all you really need is the skill. EDIT: seems I missed the part talking about Guoba Swirl in the Soup team section Also also, I don't think there was any mention of Guoba Swirl, which is something only Sucrose and Faruzan can do with Xiangling (with Sucrose being VASTLY more preferred than Faruzan here because of Sucrose's buffs). If you time the button press for Sucrose's skill when the ! shows up around Guoba's head, Sucrose's skill will swirl Pyro from Guoba which VV shreds Pyro on any nearby enemies regardless of elements applied on the enemy. This means you can VV shred 2 elements simultaneously. It also means you can VV shred Pyro on something with an inherent aura like Hydro Tulpa.
Yeah, Sucrose burst is usually optional, not only because of the ER issues, but her burst often messes with reactions in vape teams and hurls smaller enemies around. In EC and quicken, she should use her burst, and Hakushin Ring conveniently gives her team the largest buff aswell as providing ER.
Depends what you're using her for yeah - I like using it every rotation because I love crowd control, but it's annoying when it messes up reactions... Guoba swirl was mentioned around 15:30!
I am going to try Sucrose with Gaming Bennett (not C6) Citlali, and plan swirling cryo with her burst which would let Gaming plunge more often. I don't have XY yet, so for now this could work!
She may be overlooked by casuals but I don't think she is underrated by veteran/meta players, she is amazing in Taser, Vaporise, Aggravate and good in Hyperbloom, she can drive and hold TToDS or Prototype Amber if needed, she's very strong and flexible, easily one of the very best 4 stars in the game.
I rerolled for Sucrose in early Oct 2020 (giving up an early Kequing). No regrets, aside from frustration with SacFrag pulls; still only R3 4+ years later. I have every Anemo character but Chasca, and Sucrose is still my go-to when I want Swirl on both sides of the Abyss.
sucrose is an hidden meta char, the animation speed suits perfectly for speed running especially if u know how to do swirl set ups and how to AIM her skills landing point then she is totally a monster unit much better than kaz is SOME situation. But if ur the ONE type PLAYER who TAP TAP TAP only then just take kazuha. Cuz kazuha is just kinda easier to play than her. Btw im a Sucrose main since ver 1.0, and i proud to say that she's kinda worth it to play once u learn to swirl set up. and im just kinda sad that only few play her due to her skill kinda messed up skill aiming
Yeah, i think everyone forgets how different C0 4* are from C6, even if it seems like minor QoL in concept. I never used Sucrose until I got her C1. And to be fair, Sucrose ER problems can be addressed with just C1, whereas Faruzan needs C6 to reduce ER requirements. I think C0 Faruzan seems like she needs less ER only because she's typically played with 1-2 other anemo, whereas Sucrose is usually solo anemo.

Now is the time to speak my truth. I was a Sucrose main for most of my time playing Genshin for the first two years after release. I have her TRIPLE crowned running 4 piece VV (either EMx3 or Atk%+Anemo DMG+Crit) and usually ran R5 Widsith or Skyward Atlas. To this day, she’s still on my “comfy” team with Fischl, Benny, and Xingqiu as the driver. I don’t regret any of it, the investment or the time and I got through every early abyss 36 stars. She was the character I loved the most, her personality, voice lines, and just the way her moves looked and all. I’m not gonna tell anyone to crown her, and if you haven’t played her yet, then you probably don’t want to and you never will. But I would never change the way I played the game. Maybe I’ll bench my Kazuha for once in this abyss. Maybe that means I can run them both actually lol. Anyways thanks for reading, I hope you all have that one character that makes you feel like I do for Sucrose.
I have a very niche team that I use her on my hyperbloom team. I designed this team because she was my first c6. This seams unintuitive because her c6 can’t buff hyperbloom because the demage is considered dendro which can’t be swirled. But my hyperbloom was lacking hydro applier, I had only Barbara and Candace when I got her to c6. So she was helping Barbara to apply hydro only. But then I developed this idea to replace Barbara with neuvillet. Now he utilizes her c6 and vv buffs and a bit of crowd control is useful for him. You must have neuv c1 because kuki skill is small, raiden would be a better choice but it works pretty well.
Well, my theory on that is the following. It's recommended in lots of tier list ls as an op unit which she is not for a begginer or an average player. Using her properly requires full understanding of the game. People who came to the game see her pretty high in the tier lists and think she will effortlessly obliterate everything. Then they realize it's not the case and think she's garbage. The problem is that she's pretty complex and you can't just e+q to win. She starts shining when you really get to understand the game. When you get to the point where you knowingly swirl or absorb the right elements and the right time. For example. Have you even tried using her in dendro teams where you would absorb electro so it will huperbloom with her em stat? There is a lot of crazy shit you can do with her if know what you are doing.
I think the only reason you consider sucrose have a small window of absorcion for her ult is because you wanted a 1 unit of slow electro application beat nahida's fast 1.5 units of dendro, not even kazuha can swirl electro on those conditions (that's why you don't usually run anemo and nahida unless it's pyro)
that and the enemy (or yourself) have to have an element applied onto them (which spread is preventing you) near the center of the burst; the priority is Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo like almost every other anemo unit (unless Anemo Traveler and Lynette) so on hyperbloom she more than likely swirl hydro, and burgeon would have more burning than blooming (unless the hydro is the driver)
I pulled her by accident yesterday and the whole EM boosting thing left me intrigued, i wonder if she could work with a Dendro team. Say, 1 Dendro, 2 elements reactive to both and Sucrose so you could swirl for an element that can trigger Dendro reaction.
Sucrose is one of those i just barely started focusing on because early game she just feels bad with having effectively no artifacts, no weapons and no cons and levels. Anemo in general is just an element that i looked at and never liked because its awkward where i am/was.
Though I say "she", so many people feel bad early... The only reason the game became playable was furina and diluc being pulled at the same time for me
TTDS is BiS for most attack scaling carry teams. Hakushin Ring is BiS for most quicken teams. If your team doesn't fall into these categories, like Mualani teams, EM weapon becomes the best option.
I wish I had more sacrificial fragments for her! I've only ever gotten 4 and I'm AR 60! I've kept two leveled up and used the rest for refinements on the two. Unfortunately I love catalyst characters, I have a lot and they are fighting to use the sacrificial fragments😭
i got Venti before Sucrose and she's now Lv.84 while he's still 75 😂 i didn't realize she was usable for dendro teams, and watching you play that SuKoKuki-da team looked fun, i don't have Kokomi yet, but Barbara might suffice.
Sadly Barbara isn't great for that team - it really needs off-field hydro, and Barbs doesn't do much there unfortunately! Kokomi could be replaced with someone like Xingqiu or Yelan though, then you'd lack a healer... 🤔

@raptori so if i had a double ring of Shinobu and Babs going, that would be electro charging enemies if i got up close to them, and Sucrose can swirl both? obviously less damage than using XQ/Yelan
@@binsarm9026 Yeah that would work with just the three of them - but I'm pretty sure that if you bring Xiangling along, then she'd be applying too much pyro, and the enemies would have a pyro aura instead and you'd not get the same damage!
Well done Sucrose was my first triple crown character I got her day 1 with Yanfei (favorite pyro who’s also triple crown) and she carried me very comfortably through game, you pretty wrong about venti being more popular he’s only strength is best CC and powerful of field damage the former isn’t necessary needed like Zhongli top shield while later is matter of preference over sucrose, i would argue Xianyun is the second anemo to power creep her due to both buffing and healing as well amazing exploration skill nevertheless Sucrose still has advantage of being classic ver 1 powerful 4 stars like Xiangling.
Honestly my sucrose is kinda built terribly with 1000 attack, 1500 deffense no crit stats and 800 em, and she carried me through the newest imaginarium theater
C6 Sucrose has been sitting in my account collecting dust for the longest time, I've NEVER got to use her. Other characters just had a higher priority when it came to building, thou in the way she not only got her weapon, but it's maxed refined now. 😂 I *do* wanna start using her eventually but I mean... I have Kazuha, Venti AND Heizou. The latter pretty much doomed her since he's just so much more fun to play and also less annoying since he doesn't have the positioning problem or the burst-stays-uninfused-forever problem. 😅 I recognise that they're different thou, that's why I'd like to try to use her but hey, gotta farm VV again some day.

To this day, she’s still on my “comfy” team with Fischl, Benny, and Xingqiu as the driver. I don’t regret any of it, the investment or the time and I got through every early abyss 36 stars. She was the character I loved the most, her personality, voice lines, and just the way her moves looked and all.
I’m not gonna tell anyone to crown her, and if you haven’t played her yet, then you probably don’t want to and you never will. But I would never change the way I played the game. Maybe I’ll bench my Kazuha for once in this abyss. Maybe that means I can run them both actually lol. I have a very niche team that I use her on my hyperbloom team. I designed this team because she was my first c6. This seams unintuitive because her c6 can’t buff hyperbloom because the demage is considered dendro which can’t be swirled. But my hyperbloom was lacking hydro applier, I had only Barbara and Candace when I got her to c6. So she was helping Barbara to apply hydro only. But then I developed this idea to replace Barbara with neuvillet.
Now he utilizes her c6 and vv buffs and a bit of crowd control is useful for him.
You must have neuv c1 because kuki skill is small, raiden would be a better choice but it works pretty well.

Well, my theory on that is the following. It's recommended in lots of tier list ls as an op unit which she is not for a begginer or an average player. Using her properly requires full understanding of the game. People who came to the game see her pretty high in the tier lists and think she will effortlessly obliterate everything. Then they realize it's not the case and think she's garbage. The problem is that she's pretty complex and you can't just e+q to win. She starts shining when you really get to understand the game. When you get to the point where you knowingly swirl or absorb the right elements and the right time. For example. Have you even tried using her in dendro teams where you would absorb electro so it will huperbloom with her em stat? There is a lot of crazy shit you can do with her if know what you are doing.
I think the only reason you consider sucrose have a small window of absorcion for her ult is because you wanted a 1 unit of slow electro application beat nahida's fast 1.5 units of dendro, not even kazuha can swirl electro on those conditions (that's why you don't usually run anemo and nahida unless it's pyro)
that and the enemy (or yourself) have to have an element applied onto them (which spread is preventing you) near the center of the burst; the priority is Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo like almost every other anemo unit (unless Anemo Traveler and Lynette)
so on hyperbloom she more than likely swirl hydro, and burgeon would have more burning than blooming (unless the hydro is the driver)

Taser team with sucrose as an on field driver has to be one of my favourite teams, i just have to build my beidou for it to do good dmg
She and most of her teams are way too squishing. High skill needed. Helps if you sacrifice some damage to build HP on her.
I pulled her by accident yesterday and the whole EM boosting thing left me intrigued, i wonder if she could work with a Dendro team. Say, 1 Dendro, 2 elements reactive to both and Sucrose so you could swirl for an element that can trigger Dendro reaction.
Her hyperbloom capabilities (swirling hydro and electro) were mentioned near the end- her EM focus makes her a really strong choice for driving it
Sucrose is one of those i just barely started focusing on because early game she just feels bad with having effectively no artifacts, no weapons and no cons and levels. Anemo in general is just an element that i looked at and never liked because its awkward where i am/was.
Though I say "she", so many people feel bad early... The only reason the game became playable was furina and diluc being pulled at the same time for me
@@SuperShesh2 this is very true! A lot of characters are burst focused, and getting enough ER is almost impossible!
I love Sucrose! I prefer her playstyle to kazua and venti. Just got her C6 too!
TTDS is BiS for most attack scaling carry teams. Hakushin Ring is BiS for most quicken teams. If your team doesn't fall into these categories, like Mualani teams, EM weapon becomes the best option.
I wish I had more sacrificial fragments for her! I've only ever gotten 4 and I'm AR 60! I've kept two leveled up and used the rest for refinements on the two. Unfortunately I love catalyst characters, I have a lot and they are fighting to use the sacrificial fragments😭
i got Venti before Sucrose and she's now Lv.84 while he's still 75 😂
i didn't realize she was usable for dendro teams, and watching you play that SuKoKuki-da team looked fun, i don't have Kokomi yet, but Barbara might suffice.
Sadly Barbara isn't great for that team - it really needs off-field hydro, and Barbs doesn't do much there unfortunately! Kokomi could be replaced with someone like Xingqiu or Yelan though, then you'd lack a healer... 🤔

@@binsarm9026 I don't think there is one? All the "aura" stuff is just a more technical and more accurate explanation for how elemental statuses work in Genshin!
@raptori so if i had a double ring of Shinobu and Babs going, that would be electro charging enemies if i got up close to them, and Sucrose can swirl both? obviously less damage than using XQ/Yelan
@@binsarm9026 Yeah that would work with just the three of them - but I'm pretty sure that if you bring Xiangling along, then she'd be applying too much pyro, and the enemies would have a pyro aura instead and you'd not get the same damage!
My favourite character. Her buffs are probably equal to Kazuha but Kazuha is just WAY easier to use
Well done Sucrose was my first triple crown character I got her day 1 with Yanfei (favorite pyro who’s also triple crown) and she carried me very comfortably through game, you pretty wrong about venti being more popular he’s only strength is best CC and powerful of field damage the former isn’t necessary needed like Zhongli top shield while later is matter of preference over sucrose, i would argue Xianyun is the second anemo to power creep her due to both buffing and healing as well amazing exploration skill nevertheless Sucrose still has advantage of being classic ver 1 powerful 4 stars like Xiangling.
She actually said that Venti "is a little less useful" than Sucrose, the one she said was more commonly used is Kazuha 👀

Honestly my sucrose is kinda built terribly with 1000 attack, 1500 deffense no crit stats and 800 em, and she carried me through the newest imaginarium theater

C6 Sucrose has been sitting in my account collecting dust for the longest time, I've NEVER got to use her. Other characters just had a higher priority when it came to building, thou in the way she not only got her weapon, but it's maxed refined now. 😂 I *do* wanna start using her eventually but I mean... I have Kazuha, Venti AND Heizou. The latter pretty much doomed her since he's just so much more fun to play and also less annoying since he doesn't have the positioning problem or the burst-stays-uninfused-forever problem. 😅 I recognise that they're different thou, that's why I'd like to try to use her but hey, gotta farm VV again some day.
Meh, Sucrose is much better than both Venti and Heizou in most scenarios.
