Anyone for a honey shower? Well, me either but sometimes it's mjust got to happen. I was so glad when this removal was over and I could get home to shower off. Surprisingly, my hair and skin were silky smooth after my shower. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all.
Mr. Ed
Looks like you found a new tool to use for your removals. That machete worked great because those were some of the largest cells I’ve ever seen you remove. Great job guys!
Now, that was an absolute professional
hive removal ! 🎉
Had to have been so exhausting !!!
Thanks for taking the time to take us along.
Not an easy one for sure, but well worth the effort to bring the bees back with me to the abbey. Very happy to have share the experience, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave your comment. Also, Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Jeniene.
Mr. Ed
That feels like an early summer removal with all that honey.
I know there are more honey showers in my future I just wish they had not started so soon. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Hey Randy, I hope you all fared the bad weather earlier this week.
@@lambbrookfarm4528 nothing but rain here

Wow! What a gorgeous hive! I was drooling over that beautiful, (messy) dripping honey! You and Charlie make a great team! Excellent job spotting the queen, always impressed that you find her so easily! Yes, by the Grace of God! Thanks!
Now that was ALOT of not just bee's but also comb! Those girls are going to be a great addition to the Abbey. The comb seemed to be thicker with this hive storing alot of honey. Hope you and Charlie had a great lunch together. God Bless you both!!
A massive hive for sure along with some great bees. And yes, I'm happy to have them here at the abbey, another fine addition. After 5 hours of wrangling bees, both of us were hungry. Thank you for your blessings and for watching Phil. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff and Charlie out to go to the Kracer Barrel and have steak and eggs you 2 need to treat yourselfs.
You need some scaffolding so you can get your equipment closer to you on these ceiling hives! Would save time and trips up and down the ladder. You could have good footing, have your table, coolers, vacuum and hive box closer to you too!!!
I have some excellent scaffolding that I use frequently, however, when there is limited space as there was on this removal, a ladder is a much better choice to do the removal on. Plus, a lot easier to clean up and set up. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Pamela.
Mr. Ed
Another great video Guy's. Sticky job though.🐝🐝🐝
I always enjoy your videos… Today there was no mention of lunch for Charlie, and when he said goodbye as “Good-Time Charlie” I imagined him saying “Lunch-Time Charlie”. LOL!
Often times "Lunch Time Charlie" would be a much more appropriate name for sure! Thanks so much for watching. Until the next time, God's peace Sarah.
Mr. Ed
Good Morning Mr.Ed, I'm impressed with every job you do. This one must have been a long and exhausting one! Well done!! You are are always informative and entertaining to watch. I've seen a lot of comb but the cells were deep ! That is a winner hive ! Keep that one Mr.Ed.. ya'll have a good weekend ya hear!!!
Your videos always makes my day. Gods Peace Brothers.
Those are some thick cells dripping honey..
Y'all may be exhausted and think have some dis-spirited thoughts, but from my clean and cozy spot in the bleachers all I could think throughout that capture was "put a gold star on that hive!"
The size/thickness of that comb. The look of that queen. The population. The temperament (that queen walked into the cage!). The amount of honey stores still there at winter's end. That is a hive you want to take splits off of and expand that bloodline.
Some awesome bees for sure, and they are a very welcomed addition to our bees at the abbey. Thanks for watching. God's peace Barbe.
Mr. Ed
Would've been cool to see an up close view of the drone bees. I mean, they look derpy as all heck but outside of the beekeeping hobby, you don't ever really see them, especially alive.
Those cells were three c's worth of thicc. Gorgeous looking too. Looks like you've caught another wonderful addition to your honey farm.
I regret not showing the density of drones in this hive, almost unbelievable. Still, the worker bees outnumbered them at least 5 to one. You are correct, these bees will be a very welcome addition in our yard. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Just posted a video of my first swarm as a 1st year beekeeper. On my mom's birthday :) thank you Jesus!
At first I thought they were going into the Apimaye hive and then saw them moving into the trap-, real nice! Tell your mom Happy Birthday from Mr. Ed! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
OMG! Datsa humunkulus hive! 😱😁🤪🤣👍👍🇺🇸
Love it! And you and Good Time Charlie as well! God Bless!
Thank you brother, and thank you for the blessings and for watching as well. Until the next one, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Very nice! Lots of bees. Pretty new wax. Take care and God bless.
I can hardly wait to render this wax, I know I'm going to get some beautiful wax from it. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Garry.
Mr. Ed
You can hang your suit out on a line and the bees will come clean it up to an extent! LOL
That they would, that thing had about 10 pounds of honey in it from this removal. Thanks for watching. God's peace Gary.
Mr. Ed
😮 wow. Those girls have been busy.
And they made me and Charlie work really hard as well! Stay safe brother. God's peace Shawn.
Mr. Ed
Hope you show the box again in a month or so, curious how they fare in their new home :)
I very well may do that, this would make the third follow up video on a recent cut out. Stay tuned. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
WOW!! That is the thickest, heaviest, comb I’ve ever seen!!! Amazing! Looks like a healthy, thriving hive.
That really was some thick comb, full of honey....at least the part that did not drip on me as I was cutting it out. Thanks for watching. God's peace Cheryl.
Mr. Ed
Hey Charlie, what did you fly in Nam? Great video. What a bunch of bees.
Charlie flew helicopters in Vietnam... he was also shot down 3 times. He certainly served America. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff thank You
that was awesome! the machete was so effective. Can you show us how you will rebuild the hive when you go back to the abbey? How do you clean up? do you collect all the excess wax combs? please show us!
I did show how the comb was framed and place into the hive in the video. However, the clean up of the comb was omitted. I promise I will be showing that process in future videos so stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I always look forward to all your videos! I’m a fan from the Philippines! 🇵🇭 More power to your channel sir
Just yesterday someone was 'telling me' how the brood is always near the entrance... not so! Very nice video... I was not expecting the machete twist!
I’m halfway through and I can feel GTC getting hungry. 🤣
He got to the job hungry, but don't fret, we did eat after the job was done. Thanks for watching. God's peace Brian.
Mr. Ed
Charlie, I didn't know you served in Viet Nam. A pilot no less. I grew up 3 miles from Wright- Patterson Air Force Base. During the Viet Nam war, The B-52s went over our house so low, you thought the wheels would touch the roof!. My father was a Navy pilot in WW2 and Korea. He served in the Pacific flying PBY, PB4Y, and P2V aircraft. Thank you for your service, Charlie. God Bless.
Wow, It was massive
Awesome work Mr. Ed and Good Time Charlie. Hoping y'all survived the wrath of those storms and tornadoes. Was hoping and praying you were spared of all that destruction. God
Bless!
It's been a while since you left a comment, thanks for doing that and for your blessings and for watching as well. Fortunately, we were spared any real damage, but not were as lucky. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Beautiful honey comb. You guys worked hard.
Just another day in the life of a bee wrangler. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Charlie, what did you fly in Nam?
He flew helicopters, and was shot down 3 times. A man who really served his country. God's peace Brian.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff We lost my Father in law 2 years ago, he was a Vietnam Vet as well. A great man. God bless these guys.
Hope you had your steel caps on when you dropped the machete 😂. Is it normally in your kit for trimming branches when removing swarms or did you find it under the house ? Seemed to work just fine
Awesome God in His provision.
You all do a great job wrangaling bees...😊
God is good, ALL the time! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Sharon.
Mr. Ed
Great video, that suit looks to see a pressure washer/ washing machine. God Bless. Godspeed Brother. Nice catch btw.
The suit is toast after this removal. With so many holes and now all the honey, it went into the garbage. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Until the next one, God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Lemme guess, Charlie said two hours!
That was An amazing removal!
He knew right from the start this one was going to be more than 2 hours, we both shuttered with fear when we saw just how big this one was. Safe travels brother. God's peace Sean.
Mr. Ed
WOW, I did not think it was ever going to stop. Great job guys and thanks for sharing. Have a nice safe day and God bless you guys for all you do!!!
Wait till you see tomorrow's post, another massive hive...and bees with an attitude! Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Until the next time, God's peace Shane.
Mr. Ed
Hey Mr. Ed. where do you get those rubber bands from? I can’t find them anywhere and I’ve checked everywhere I can think of office supplies, big box stores and so on. Please help. I love your videos with good time Charlie. Those super size bee colonies especially the externally bee colony in the tree and many more. I need to get a good helper like good time Charlie it’s getting a little harder now that I’ve turned 75.
I buy them from Amazon, they are 7 X1/8 inch rubber bands and they come in a box of about 200 for around 10$. Good luck finding a helper, good ones like Charlie are far and few between. Thanks for watching. God's peace James.
Mr. Ed
I like the way you've cut the comb and left bees on it instead of vacuuming them up. I think I'll start doing it that way.
I was just curious... How much do you guys charge down there to do cutouts? I live in Northern Pennsylvania and always wrestle with what to charge people. I usually charge $50 an hr with a minimum of $500
I really like keeping the bees on the comb now, it is a practice I have recently began and it is really paying off by keeping the brood alive and allowing the bees to acclimate so much quicker. The rate is always based on what the market will pay, if what you are doing now works, keep doing it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Luke.
Mr. Ed
Hey guys! Massive colony and great video as usual. Just saw bees in my fourth swarm trap yesterday. Sent you pics. God bless!
I got them, you are on a roll! Way to go Russ, and I'll call soon. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I just love you and Charlie!! what a GREAT team you two are ❤❤❤
thank you Amy, and thank you so much for following along with our bee wrangling adventures. Until the next one, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Hi Mr. Ed. Lisa here from Brandywine, Maryland. How can you tell which capped cells are drones?
The drone cells are always protruding from the comb and often look like a .22 bullet head. Also, the cell is always larger than worker brood. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace Lisa.
Mr. Ed
I am impressed with how you guys get the bees out. Good job. That was quite a colony. How many hive boxes did they end up filling?
The bees filled 2 deep supers, and I just added another one yesterday. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace
brother.
Mr. Ed
Haven't seen a Mr. Ed bee video in yonks, good to see you again Jeff. Fine work again, thanks for filming for us.
Happy to have you watching, and remember I still post a video every Friday. Thanks for watching. Until the next one, God's peace Rachell.
Mr. Ed
What a great cutout Lots of bees. Well now I might have to buy a serrated Machete LOL.
How many deeps did you end up putting them in.
I am going tomorrow to smoke some out of a tree the hive just moved in about 2 weeks ago. The home owner was lucky enough to see them moving in.
Thanks again for another great vid.
It wound up filling 2 entire deeps, and next week I will be adding the honey super to them, awesome bees for sure. Make sure you add a bit of Honey Bandit or another brand to the smoker, it chases the bees a lot better. Thanks for watching. God's peace Dennis.
Mr. Ed
Jeff I've noticed in the last few videos you've been using the yellow vacuum more than the one that you built yourself any reason why?
The main reason is the versatility of the Everything Bee Vac, I still love my Robo Vac, but I love the Everything Bee Vac more. Thanks for watching. God's peace Andrew.
Mr. Ed
You guys taught me a new way to use the rubber bands! That is a great way, I've been having to thread the comb through the gap made by the frames when the rubber band is on both sides. Also, like the use of the portable folding table and cooler idea. Thank you.
Happy to pass along different ways of making a hard job a bit easier, delighted to hear you found the info useful. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Dan.
Mr. Ed
Funny thing about this video, maybe I’m just strange but I got smell-o-vision of the bee odors. 😂
Can you send me the link for that, I'd love to share it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Keith.
Mr. Ed
What's the motivation for thinning the Drone population of the hive?
They really slow the recovery process down as they use resources that the workers need. Also, they are welcome into any hive at this time of the year. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I'm watching the video and I'm at halfway point and noticed some beetles running around on the comb. In such a large hive with so many bees how come the bees aren't attacking them?
Trust me, had the bees not been distracted by all the chaos that was going on around them, they would have been all over those beetles. No hive gets this big without taking care of beetle business. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow, that is a slamming hive Jeff! Great removal as usual, had fun as always. Say hi to Charlie :D
What an awesome hive this one was, and now, it's in my bee yard where the genetics will get spread around with all our other bees. Glad you enjoyed the video and I'll bee sure to tell Charlie you said hello. Hey Mr. Ed you can try a mini Machete also. I have one in my small knife and sword collection.😊😊
My 16 inch knife that I always have broke on the last removal and the new one had not gotten in yet. Still, I will look into the mini machete as a back up. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Steven.

I have to agree. The overhead removals are by far the least favorite, and I press forward knowing the end of its coming. Great removal.
I know you know my pain. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jeremy.

Hi Jeff can you please post a link for the everything bee vac I want to buy direct from the guy that invented it forgot his name. I want to step up my bee collection this year. Wow that's a ton of bees there and a huge hive ! Peace brother !
The link is allmybees.com and his name is Tony.
A great bee vac and an indispensable tool when wrangling bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Great removal as always. How bad is the situation there after the tornado outbreak? I heard that Slidel Louisana was hit and believe that's relatively close to you as you sometimes go there for a removal. Hopefully you and your loved ones are all safe.
Slidell is about 30 miles from me but only about 5 miles from Charlie. Fortunately, we were spared any damage. Thank you for your concern and for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I'm praying for your safety, as you're up and down on that ladder! May God keep you safe from injury!
Thank you so much for your prayers, blessings, and for taking the time to watch the video, it is all greatly appreciated. Until the next one, God's peace Lisa.
Mr. Ed
that looked to be an absolutely massive hive but with very conveniently sized pieces of comb! it also looked to be absolutely loaded with honey. do you have an estimate of the number of bees and the amount of honey it contained? aside from taking a honey shower because of the location how do your shoulders cope with that many hours of work above your head? when that machete fell it looked a bit scary a very good tool but one with some danger attached! also missed your taking a taste test! Impressive work as ever!
The comb size fit perfect into a frame which made the job so much easier to do. I guess there was over 40,000 bees in the hive and I got over 3 gallons of honey along with all the honey the bees got and the homeowner as well. The over head work is not what hurts, it's the hours on the ladder, my legs get very tired from all that up and down. Thanks for watching. Until the next one, God's peace Jean.
Mr. Ed
Did you or Good Time Charlie suffer any damage from the tornado that hit Slidell I hope you and all the bees are doing okay
Neither of us suffered any damages, thank you so much for asking and for taking the time to watch the video, that is very kind of you to do that. Also, I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
something I have wondered about is if anyone has ever fed fruit juice or maple sap to bees to see what kind of honey they make from it. Any thoughts from beekeepers out there?
When there is a dearth, no nectar flow, bee will forage on any sweet source so I'm sure they have eaten fruit juice but not so sure about maple sap. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

Not sure if it was mentioned in the comments already, but which thermal camera are you using and where can I find it?

"Machete Wrangles" What a mess! But you are giving those bees a great home.
Just another amazing bee wrangling adventure that had a honey shower included with it. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
As big as that hive is do you think there maybe 2 queens in the hive. To me it looks really big for a bee hive.
No, there was only one queen in spite of the size of the hive. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ray.
Mr. Ed
Thats a bee city! the first thing I thought was that they are very close to swarming and how many peanuts will be there?
I was surprised that we did not find one swarm cell, I was expecting to find several. However, I'm sure there would have been some in a week or two. Theres a new tool in the tool box. Who knew a machete was a bee wrangling tool?🐝❤
Desperation is a very good incentive and this time it worked fantastic. Still, I'll be using my 16 inch knife next time. I broke it on the last removal and the new one had not gotten in yet. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I have an (ex) dress sword only have used once but I carry it all the time just in case of a reach .
Which is why the machete is kept in the van as well, you just never know when it will bee needed. Thanks for watching. God's peace Daniel.

😂😂, guy's are suppose to be slippery , not sticky 😂😂
Guds frid.
Mr. Ed
You need a fold up platform to set your cooler on so you don’t have to go up and down the ladder so much.😂

I was going to say with the honey, do you wash it or let the bees clean it as they were doing. That's a big one.
Actually the suit was so honey soaked and torn, I threw it out, let the bees clean it up, and then threw it away. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
would love to hear about your service Charlie.
I'll ask Charlie to talk about it on a video, he's always willing to talk about flying and the adventures he has had. Thanks for watching. God's peace Rick.

A whopper of a hive and yes Charlie, deep cells indeed. Great viewing again. Such a big beautiful Queen too. Many thanks for sharing today’s exploits. Blessings.😊
That was one heck of a hive. Those girls won't know what hit them.
Once they saw that machete coming up to the comb, they shuttered in fear. Thanks for watching. God's peace Kelly.

Just have to say wow. What a massive amount of comb. 👏
A truly remarkable hive and bees! I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. Wow, what a great hive. I've never seen such deep cells and so many drones.
Mr. Ed, you and Charlie worked very hard, and i hope your lunch was amazing after such hard work. Working overhead like that, i imagine you were in some pain too.
Thanks for sharing these amazing bee rescues/wrangling.
Sending positive vibes and blessings from northern Indiana & happy spring! 🐝
Great job! Look at all that honey! How did it taste?
As good as it looked, fantastic! Thanks for watching. God's peace Annette.
Mr. Ed
Do you keep every hive you wrangle?
All of the really nice ones like this one, but some are given to other beekeepers as they start their beekeeping journey. How do you like that thermal camera?
It really is a "must have" tool when wrangling bees, it locates the position of the hive every time. I will be making another comparison video on thermal cameras very soon, stay tuned. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

Might need to make you tool to reach up in there and remove the comb.
I'll be anxiously waiting on the mailman to deliver it. Loving the hive tool for sure. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I wonder how many pounds of honey you removed?
I gave back to the bees at least 2 gallons, 24 pounds, I harvested over 3 gallons for myself, 36 pounds, and the home got about 5 pounds so that's 65 pounds and no telling how much fell on me and the ground, but it had to be several pounds, so I'd guess about 70 pounds or so. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. How did you and Charly handle the tornado
For us, all was well as the tornado touched down some 30 miles from me and about 8 from Charlie. Thank you for your concern and for watching. God's peace Rocky.
