      @@Lucia-io3dnI think they get told that when they have an epidural which removes feeling and pain so they need to be told to push when a contraction happens. To put it bluntly, you would not need to be told to push when having a bowel movement, it happens naturally and you have to go with it! Without an epidural you would feel the urge to push during childbirth ehen a contraction comes.

    I delivered our second child at home 46 years ago. My wife was only in labor for four hours for the second child and delivered on her hands and knees, which was by far the most comfortable position for her. Birthing at home was my wife's idea, and I was dragged kicking and screaming into the experience, but it was the most wonderful experience of my life. That little newborn baby girl now has five babies of her own.

    Hey Mikhaila. I’ve had six kids in six years including a set of twins. All natural vaginal births. I really REALLY recommend Lisa from “Farmhouse on Boone’s” content around birth, and recovery especially. She has 8 children, runs their family business with her husband and is an incredibly industrious woman. She’s no fluff. It might help you make a practical plan for after you give birth.

      @@Rosie_C Advice is hard to give since I know nothing about you, but practically I tell everyone this: Lift heavy weight at least three times a week. It’s the longest lever to longevity we have and in my opinion one the best ways to prepare for labor.
      Don’t expect anything. Pregnancy doesn’t follow a logical path and neither will your symptoms. If you feel good take advantage of that day because a day where you cannot get off the couch is guaranteed to be around the corner.
      Take your emotions with a grain of salt and write them down to put them somewhere if they’re so brutal you don’t even want to tell your partner them right away.
      ACCEPT HELP.
      And lastly find Jesus if you haven’t, and accept he’s the only thing giving you the strength to accomplish whatever you’re accomplishing.

      @@miriamcombe3033 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to RUclips comment!! I appreciate it. I’ve never been into exercising except for a brief bit when I was a little overweight, but I quit because I didn’t feel comfortable and proper in the gym atmosphere. BUT I do know better, and could exercise at home if I gather the discipline. Thank you for encouraging with your experience! I was also recently encouraged by another channel with several young children - Now that we’re a family - and she promotes exercise during pregnancy. Right now, it’s easy to stay fit and in shape, working with 4 children ages 2-6 and keeping house for them 40 hours a week, but I definitely will have to focus on it when I’m having my first children.
      All your advice lines up with what I’ve observed! I’ve been paying attention and soaking up everything I can for the past 20 years about motherhood, being a godly wife, and excellent housekeeper. My mom had 7 children after me, and I’ve cared for nieces and nephews or nanny children ever since my mom stopped having babies. 😄

    Hey Mikhaila,
    My mom moved in with us for almost 2 months. It was a total game-changer, especially at night.
    At first, she would do the diaper changes and then would bring my baby in for me to breastfeed. That lasted only 1 week due to me getting almost no sleep.
    Out of sheer desperation, I continued to breastfeed 99% of the time, except between midnight & 6am, at which time my mom would feed the baby (pumped breast milk) every 2-3 hours. She was basically up all night & slept during the day.
    I woke up each morning feeling increasingly better, not just physically, but emotionally.
    The gift of sleep was, for me, the most valuable thing ever.

Being trapped in the house all day with nobody to eatch you is actually quite dangerous and cruel, these parents are choosing to socialize their child while they're gone and make sure somebody is feeding them and watching them.

    With my 3rd pregnancy I also had an early miscarriage. I had a positive pregnancy test and went in for blood work and found out that my pregnancy hormones were not where they were supposed to be at and I ended up having a miscarriage and I was devastated. I also had to go back and tell a lot of people that I miscarried. A year later I got pregnant with my daughter who is now 7 and I waited a few months to tell people I was pregnant because I was on edge and stressed the whole entire pregnancy and worried I was going to miscarry. I'm watching this on my husband's RUclips account, but please know this information is coming from a labor RN: you need to tell your provider about your headaches with vision problems. These are hallmark signs of pre-eclampsia. I don't want to cause undue alarm, I'm super stoked for you and your husband. I just audibly gasped when you mentioned having headaches that were making it hard for you to see.

    • @lbee8247
      @lbee8247 7 месяцев назад +1

      Could there be other causes? She said she got the same test as an OB would give. Though I had 4 kids I don't remember what test I got. Do they test regularly for preeclampsia?

    • @ryanvartman
      @ryanvartman 7 месяцев назад +2

      @lbee8247 So, they should be regularly checking blood pressures and testing for the presence of protein in the urine. However, prenatal care providers *should* also be on the lookout for patient symptoms suggestive of pre-eclampsia (most commonly headache, vision changes, and/or epigastric pain). This is why it's so important you tell your provider if you are having these symptoms. If these symptoms *are* present, further testing can be performed, such as a test where they collect all urine passed over 24 hours to average out the amount of protein excreted over a full day or look at the protein/creatinine ratio of the urine. They can also draw labs to look at things like platelet levels and liver enzymes. First-time mothers are at a higher risk, but if you have a different father than your first baby, you are also at higher risk.

    • @razorbladelemonade
      @razorbladelemonade 7 месяцев назад +2

      I had preeclampsia only during labor but I had swelling and signs before- when I ate keto for a few days all my swelling would go down though- is it possible to even have preeclampsia if she’s in ketosis?

    • @ryanvartman
      @ryanvartman 7 месяцев назад +2

      @razorbladelemonade The cause of pre-eclampsia is not completely understood. I know that there are definitely some schools of thought that believe diet plays a role. Unfortunately, just as with most health issues currently, dietary influence on pre-eclampsia is not well studied or understood. Personally, I think that there *is* definitely an inflammatory component. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert here, I'm just sharing what I know. Those symptoms in pregnancy are definitely worth mentioning to a provider, though.
      It's also hard to say what is and is not being tested when prenatal care comes from midwives in the United States. I'm not saying that to disparage midwives. My first birth was a homebirth with a midwife and she was fully competent and responded to complications I experienced perfectly. However, in the United States, quality of care from midwife to midwife varies widely just because of the way the medical industry took midwives out of the system completely (the wrong move, IMO) and are slowly reincorporating them in varied ways from state to state. My understanding of midwives in Canada is that preparation and quality of midwifery care is much more standardized.
      Sorry, for the novella, btw. 😆

    I really appreciate your honesty about your diet. Folic acid is hard for those with MTHFR to process, methylfolate is recommended. The most folate rich food is chicken liver, I ate it when I could while pregnant. I also took beef liver pills when I felt like it. Baby and I have ended up super healthy.

      Just discovered I have the mutant gene at 60. I only found out bc my son was tested and he had it. When I was pregnant I craved liver which I ever eat. Now it makes sense.
