"Fear of the Dark" from Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark" album (1992).
And so, I can finally add another song to the "Master difficult playlist". Also the first time I busted out the jazz bass on this channel. I used live videos, the original song, and also a bass-focused mix of Fear of the Dark and I think I improved the Songsterr tab quite a bit. I really tried to record it perfectly but jeez.. it was so so so difficult. How does Steve play this while being so active on stage... Obviously he follows the chord progression but not the exact same notes as the original recording. But yeah, this cover is basically as sloppy as Steve's isolated track is lol.

Steve Harris loves to play Root , 5th, and octave cords. Been a Maiden fan since 1984…started playing bass at age 49 and loved the sound of these three and didn’t understand why until I studied some music theory and saw Steve play and put it together. My fav bands bassist style!

I remember think Maiden was a simple band, that it wasn't super complex or that there wasn't any virtuosity on it...
Then I looked to Harris bass playing... And everything changed... DUDE'S A BEAST!!
They're all legends really. These riffs are so much harder to play than it actually looks/sounds.

my first bass. its got a great neck :) there some dissonant high pitch noise i try to get rid of. not sure if its just mine? :P. playing along with this i get really tired in my left hand. not sure if i should lower the action or just stick with it and build more strength xD
This is the first cover i have seen that does ALL of the notes perfectly. No really in all of RUclips theres no one playing the song 1:1 like it is in the tab. While i know how covers work, i apreciate someone doing stuff like this so i can learn the song too!

@@LeoBassCovers2 Haha yeah the tempo is relentless. It's actually kinda funny, I'm a much better/more technical bassist then I used to be, but my actual speed might have slowed down some. I used to play less technical but much FASTER music with my fingers. Probably ought to pick up my speed again.

My dad has a Marcus Miller jazz bass at home too, but he has a 5 stringed one, while I play with four strings. My dad has a 5 stringed yamaha bass (same one as John Myung from dream theater), a 5 stringed Marcus Miller jazz bass and a 4 stringed precision bass that he shares with me.

What equipment or equalizer did you use to sound like that?
Not much really, most of the tone is just this bass. Some simple compression/EQ within Cubase :)
