Marner & Tavares for Couturier & Walker on defense straight up would be a good trade.
The Leafs would like these two players as they fill gaps in the roster Leafs need a player like Couturier & a dman with grit & upside like Walker.
Meanwhile Marner needs a fresh start somewhere far away from the pressure of T.O although Marner & coach at Phili wouldn't click at all.

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I don't know what is going on with Jacob Markstrom. I think that he should stay in Calgary, with The Flames.
Don’t blame Couturier for wanting out, he’s at that age where he wants to try and get a cup and not waste his last good years on a rebuild and Briere should of knew this and tried to get him to a team in contention and got something back for him. Then finally to try and get brownie points they finally gave him the C after not giving it to him after Giroux left.

He was injured for 2 years. Major questions coming into the season. Wore out by the last 1/4th of the Season. Long Term Contract.

If Sullivan does end up leaving Pittsburgh, Dubas should not hire Sheldon Keefe to replace him. The current projections for the Penguins moving forward doesn't seem all that great, they may have to hire someone who can help lead this team through tough times, depending on when Sidney Crosby decides to hang it up, and some with youth and energy. Also, I feel like Keefe and Dubas together again as GM and head coach will be a repeat of their time in Toronto, able to make it into the playoffs but most likely a first round exit team.
As far as Stamkos goes, depending on what he feels like doing for however long he has left in the NHL, he will either A) go to a team that is always in the playoff hunt but needs that one last piece to help them get over the hump or B) maybe go somewhere that is close to where he was born and raised and finish out his career near friends and family. I'm sorry to say but I feel as though Tampa Bay's current window of opportunity to win the Stanley Cup has pretty much closed and it will take some time for it to reopen once again.
Would love to see Stamkos in Toronto but know deep down we needed defense and goalie help the most. I am on the lets dump Marner band wagon. I'd love to see Binnington in goal for us.

Detroit couldn't afford to do that.
I do think stamkos is the potential kane replacement.
But I also dont think stammer is going anywhere.

I think it’s better than 50/50 that Kane stays in Detroit. I feel like Detroit has the money (but not for both Kane and Stamkos). It will be a balancing act for Detroit to come to a money figure and term Kane would find acceptable, knowing that he can probably name his price and term elsewhere. If Kane leaves, I can see making a play for Stamkos on Detroit, however I thought he was going to be on the way the last time he was looking for a contract. Or… Wings can say no to both and find a 1st or 2nd line two way center to come to town.
Why would Cgy take Husso? lol, Cgy has Vladar, who has comparable stats to Husso. Ask price was, 1st DP, young NHL ready and a mid prospect, for just Markstrom. Price goes up if you’re adding dead weight.
That ask is ludacris.
A young nhl ready 1st pair dman is the most coveted asset in the nhl.
You want that plus a mid prospect??
So if we're talking a cgy/Detroit trade, that nhl ready dman is simon edvinsson, youre giving multiple assets on top of markstrom if that was to be entertained.
Your right husso is dead weight and I cant imagine cgy taking him in a trade. Detroit will have to offload husso in a separate trade ( adding draft capital to convince a bottom team to take on the salary )

Is Mathews problem an illness or an injury? It does' look good. If you can stand up you should play in a game like this one. Tom Fitzgerald couldn't fire himself so he fired Lindy Ruff. That was the bottom line n New Jersey. We'll see how Ruff does back home in Buffalo!

The Lightning are in decline. Prospect pool is rated by many as one of the very worst. They've traded away a ton of picks. BriseBois has treated Stamkos as just another pending UFA. Imo, he's been publicly disrespected. I'd leave for another cup chase if I was him. Boston has the cap space. Centering Pasta & Marchand for a few seasons? He could do worse.
