I recall back in the day, Tour Edge were better known for their woods which were priced at a premium. And they had been bold in some of their innovations. Glad to see them as an alternative to the over priced major brands, where at this rate of inflation a driver is going to cost me $2000 a piece by the time I eventually retire.
Two things. RB, you are absolutely correct on the audible feedback. I swing in the 90s and having that sound is crucial for me to strike the ball in the middle or different parts of the face. The other thing is the place of a fairway wood in the bag. They should not go far, but fit a gap between the Driver and the next club. I do not think I will carry a 3 wood in the summer since the fairways are fast where I play, but instead opt for 3 utility clubs for different situation. Driving iron, a 5 wood, and a hybrid; they all go the roughly the same distance, but provide options off the tee, rough, and fairway. Tour Edge exotics, while cheaper than their competitors, have always provided their customers with great components. Highly underrated and provide value for the money, by value I do not mean cheap. They used to put graphite design shafts on their clubs. Yes, Graphite Design!
Was ready to upgrade from older Callaways with prolaunch reg shafts. Tour edge made total sense to me as an affordable upgrade. I got a 3wood and 3&4 hybrids. Really happy with the shaft upgrades, with Hzrdus wood and KBS hybrid, and the headcovers are really nice. Tour edge is a great value for the average golfer
I use the Tour Edge 721 Hybrids, easiest clubs in my bag to hit. The 3 hybrid has similar distance to my Mavrik 4 wood, currently looking for a 2 hybrid to replace the 4 wood possibly. Tour Edge is a solid company, I highly recommend testing them out if you get the chance.
Yes! As a loyal Tour Edge fan I am so pleased to see this head to head comparison! I’m a Tour Edge Homer…..I play the EXS cavity blades 4-AW plus 54 and 58 degree wedges. I have the C721 driver and 3W and 2 driving iron……and even have 2 Tour Edge bags! The clubs are reliable and they perform. Their website outlines shaft options for each club based on swing speed.
Great video. I think you guys are without a doubt the best in the game right now in terms of club reviews as well as educating most of us on technical aspects of club fitting. I like that you always mention the lofts, shafts model, and sometimes the length of the shaft. I’m not sure if it would be possible but I think we would all benefit if the shaft length was always included especially for longer clubs (driver-hybrid). I know that between Ian, Matt, and Mike, you all have different shaft length preferences. Would be really cool to see length mentioned more often. Keep up the great work guys!
Entire topend of my bag if TEE...amazing product...in bag last 10+ years...turns heads...don't forget about the LIFETIME warranty...have had a couple of shafts break, called them up and replacement sent no questions asked! Top notch from top to bottom
I think most people would struggle off the deck with the low spinner woods. I could see this Tour Edge being for the masses and doing really well this year
The TE cb range is what built their reputation. I have played them since the cb2. I currently play the cbx t3 with an Aldila Rogue Silver 125 msi in tx at 42". I am 60, 5'9" and carry it 270 off the tee...genuine low spin, no side spin...Id put it up against anything...built it from a new head in 2021 for $75USD.
TE is an excellent club company, I loved their E8 Beta driver. I truly believe they suffer from the extremes of their product lines, hard to sell the technology angle when your premium club is sitting next to a Bazooka branded driver. Customer service as I recall was great too.
Nothing wrong with the Bazookas. I used an 8.5 for years and always out drove my playing partners 10-20 yds. If you painted these Callaway, Taylor Made, or Titleist, most would not know the difference.
Let me assure you that the TE Exotics C722 fairway is still pretty loud with a slower swing/ball speed. I own a C722 3-wood that I have had set at lofts from 14.25 to 15.75 degrees and my clubhead speed with it is about 94 MPH, which results in a ball speed of 136 to 138 MPH. That 3-wood creates a sound that is quite loud and percussive at impact.
In terms of value, I think a lot of people like to try and have some fun with long irons. When Ian was swinging a game improvement iron recently it resembled a utility iron. I’d be very interested to see a comparison against a 75-125 GI iron vs a 200-250 utility iron.
Would love to see Ian with an optimized Tour edge build to battle against his gamer. Watching enough videos not sure if the Tensei blue is doing it justice in the test. Great to see it still keeps up though!
There was a time when Tour Exotics was known for making premium fairway woods and they back in those days when known for them, for example they made titanium fairway woods when no one else did, up until adams began making titanium fairway woods, and they used to cost like twice the cost of the next most expensive fairway wood... I remember at least being told back then, that they were in more non sponsored bags on tour then any other fairway wood also, sorta like Adams used to do with hybrids...
Looks pretty easy to hit. Could probably loft the TourEdge down a bit to get comparable launch/spin numbers? You guys inspired me to treat myself to some clubs later this year.
Thanks for this review. Do you guys actually stock Tour Edge products? Every time I look at the TXG Store, I don't see them. I'd love to be able to order them through you, and not the US site or GolfTown. Thanks.
TXG, can tell me ,,, I have a Tour Edge BAZOOKA HT MAX-d 3wood 15* with aaldila NV 65R shaft,,, Old but a beauty!! IF I was to change the shaft to a stiff and 1in longer,, would that give me more distance and still maintain the accuracy I enjoy now?? and if so what kind of shaft would I be looking for in terms of kick point?
The club in my bag that I hit the least. I have a fitting for a replacement for my Callaway Epic Flash but have to admit being a tad on edge because my 3 wood technique is just poor compared to driver and irons.
These tests just prove one big thing... "Most" average golfers have NO reason to ever spend so much money on OEM clubs just to be loyal to a brand name. Tour Edge are not the only ones either. Would LOVE for you guys to test some Wishon, Maltby, etc.....
You guys should have used the tour edge exotics pro 3wood. I do like the Exotics pro driver, but due to it breaking 3 times in 18 months, I've now changed to a Titleist.
@@jaysonfrankl2418 To have a club break 3 times in 18 months is not good enough. So I've changed to a titleist as I'm not prepared for it to happen again, especially during comp, pitty as I really liked the brand.
Are the lofts verified with a spec guage for these heads before testing? Normal manufacturing tolerances could have one head a bit stronger and the other a bit weaker. Just a thought, but it could explain the differences in height.
Would love to see what lofting the c722 down (stronger) does. I’d imagine the ball flights and numbers would be pretty identical to the stealth at that point? Before you went to the club data I was thinking the dynamic loft would be a bit higher than the TM but it seems it’s mostly a spin and launch angle thing
They did loft it down to match Stealth in terms of loft. Or did you mean further than that? Cause I'm curious what would happen if you put Ian's shaft in the Tour Edge what the result would be.
@@knightriderkitt3000 just a little bit more than what they did. The tour edge spun a bit more and flew higher but maintained pretty much the same ball speed as the TM so id be curious if they lofted it down just a touch more if it would basically match the TM. With Ian’s delivery the tour edge just seemed more playable based on the higher flight and a touch more spin. But I guess it depends on what he wants to use it more most often and he said he uses it off the tee quite a bit and will just fade it to take off some spin. Overall quite impressive from the tour edge for being quite a bit cheaper
Thanks for the question Peter. For the purpose of this video, we compared head to head for loft to see how the spins directly compete against each other. To your point, we could have likely matched the spin closer by lowering the loft of the C722.
RB please stop trying to do math! The difference between 299 & 429 is not almost 25% , depending on which way you are looking the Stealth is c.40% more expensive or Tour Edge is c.30% cheaper. Given this was a stock shaft v premium upgrade, Stealth was mighty impressive but Tour Edge was only a little worse for a lot less money. I do wonder what would happen if Ian was fit for the Tour Edge, I suspect any performance difference would be minimal
as a mug golfer on his 4th set of tour edge irions and driver 3 +5 woods i can tell you other high handicapers your game improves and you fell better more often out on the course ? now if that isnt worth 15 yards retire
For the average golfer it’s really distressing to the pricing that we are seeing with golf clubs these days! Here is an example of a club that’s basically competes in performance with some slight differences. Also in reality the performance is probably better suited to the average golf with a club that’s seems to be easier to hit. Just can’t in my mind justify the difference in price and shows what companies are doing in terms of flooding the market with their PR campaigns to inflate the price. Great Job by tour exotics to offer something that competes at a lot better price.
The only difference in performance I saw came down to the different shafts. If Ian puts that fancy shaft in the c722, look out TM, # for # nothing comes close
Ian shouldve sticked with his 5 wood titanium Sim. TEE wins it for me, I need that extra spin. And if you have a little extra spin you can also go after it a little harder, if needed to, it just flies easier in the air.
I wish you had discussed lie angle, particularly w/respect to the TE lineup. Their drivers are extraordinarily upright clubs. Maybe their target demo is a serial slicer? Both offered similar ball speed to Stealth and total distance, the C723 and Ping were consistently longer carry, 2850-3000 spin, 10-12’ higher and 5* steeper landing. The Stealth, while extremely consistent was 2300 spin. That’s lower than my driver. I chose C722 over Ping because it was a bit lower octave and a few db’s quieter.
