+Crichjo32 :I don't understand why everyone seems to feel discomfort watching this. The most beautiful views of the world can be found in caves. Plus nobody freaks out in the elevator or in the middle of a concert (and you have way less space then).
It's simple really. To be able to truly explore most caves you need to be relatively small. Don't be afraid of the dark or claustrophobia. But mainly, not everyone can make the trip to many of these places, so they enjoy seeing other people make the trips. Elevators are also a bit different, since you are so far underground. Because of this some people are more scared of caves than elevators.
It's only the tight spaces that make me panic, I'd be worried of getting stuck then dying a grueling death. Someone died in nutty putty cave that way and they could never retrieve his body so they just sealed up the place. Scary
saw the same story.... imagine dying after being upside down for 27 hours with your arm pinned under your body, looking at a dead end, with no way to push yourself back up, all while having your chest under pressure from the squeeze your in. there aren't many worse ways to die than that.
The difference between these two situations is that the caving shown in this video is with experienced cavers who know the route and the one at Nutty Putty, they just guessed and went for it. The latter strategy not ending well.
Total respect… but my worst nightmare. The idea of getting stuck, panicking, especially with someone behind me who is going to have to rip my dead body out to get past :I
@overgrow00 good point, but i think the question revolves around why anyone would to this. It looks like no fun what so ever. Just a boring grind. Got to be something more use full you could to to face fears, take risk and control your mind, rather then crawling trough caves.
I really like the idea of spelunking, and I can do "versions" of it. I'm not really claustrophobic, but tight squeezes half filled with water, or squeezes that require crawling are out of the question for me. I don't ever want to get stuck in a position that isn't upright, or in a position that can fill with water.
I feel the same way about diving, except that drowning or being eaten by a shark is a thousand times better than if something goes wrong during cave exploration.
If I wanted to partake in a extreme pastime I'd choose something much safer like heroin or meth I can't believe this is legal and I struggle to understand the appeal but at the same time WOW

Fast forward to last week, my husband was on the rescue and came home telling me I couldn’t do that trip now and it is a lot tighter than he remembers.
