The hardest part was the part he did not show. Unclipping the clips holding the glass mirror to the housing. There are 4 corners with 2 clips on each side. You are going to want a firm prying tool or a small point flathead to fit inside the mirror housing. You will want to do one two clips at one time while pulling at the same time. once you freed 2 of them move to the next corner and do the same. Keep constant pressure to make sure the clips do not go back while you have moved onto the next corners. once you get 2 corners and 1 clips done from the 3rd it should start freeing up on it's own. It is easy after that part. I just installed sequence signals on my 2012 ford explorer smoked out. And the final product is damn worth the effort. Be carful prying the clips they are fairly weak and you can snap them pulling them back you only need enough force to move it that 2/16th of and inch to free it.
@@polizzi82 when I first was looking about a week again (before this was uploaded) it was always how to replace the entire thing. Unless I was searching the wrong words i don’t know lol. But thank you for this video. Scariest part for me will be popping the mirror off.
I have to do this on the passenger side of my wife’s new to her 2017. Thanks for sharing this!! It’ll be easy. Have you ever had to replace the little rear clips that hold the panels together? That’s next in my list.
My passenger mirror light is broken on my 2016 and I’m also pretty sure the plastic on the back is broken is there a way to replace the back mirror trim under the back cap?
I installed Sequential turn signals on the mirrors for my 2018 Ford Explorer, but once I start the car they do not work. They only work when the car is off. Does anyone know if there any way to fix this? There is nothing online about this problem :(
Your video is really good but you missed explaining carefully where these clips are exactly. You should have illustrated the dismantle showing how to remove the clips. If they break then the whole mirror is rendered useless.
Even if you were a skilled electrical tech and had access to free LEDs, the plastic housing is sealed. The whole fixture is pretty inexpensive and took all of 10 mins to swap out.
Just bought sequentials for mine hoping this video helps 🙏🏻

I changed it for a complete led light. It looks awesome and the best, not a lot of people have it
Thank you! Just bought sequential lights. Took me forever to find this video but I’m glad I did!
I was surprised there wasn't a good video already when I first looked - glad to hear it helped!

Thanks this helped a lot. I just installed a replacement today! A lot of tight spots and hope I clipped the mirror back on all the way lol

Thank you master
So the mirror is held in with metal clips? I have to replace the trim ring and was wondering how you access the screws that hold it on. 👍
I’m having issues with my backup camera on my 2013 ford explorer. I get no image, and it says to contact the dealer
You skipped the most difficult part, you show the clips to pop out the glass but you removed before make this video!!
@1:30 did you just simply pull out the mirror by snapping it out from the clips you showed?

I have the lane change warning, so there is another connection at the bottom that MUST be removed.
So you can't just replace an led that's out? I have 2 out of the 5 or 4 that's on it.

You skipped the most difficult parts now I’m stuck! Thanks for nothing really
How much is this part
