you aren't wrong my man. funk is all about dynamics and that intro sets us up for the absolutely nasty groove that follows it. and once Sophia gets her first belting line at 1:15... chills bro

I never realized what a killer song this was until I heard this version. Missed all the great subtleties in the lyrics in the original Clash delivery.

Often, these cleverly reimagined songs only work because we compare them with the original versions, but they aren't really as good. This, on the other hand, is outstanding, and needs no reference to previous versions!

I really enjoyed the energy and know how Sophia James puts across in her vocal inflection of telling here story. And as usual Joe Ayoub in the groove on that bass with a great drummer. Ryan Lerman's interesting approach on guitar across all of the Scary Pockets has been very cool to listen as he intertwines his guitar parts into the songs . Its fun to play my bass along with scary pockets. A lot of new arrangements with with great hooks in the songs. I really like the Intro to Attention by (Sophia James) which is played throughout the song. Leland Sklar has done a lot. Loved his bass work on Attention. Gave me a smiling face. Thanks

Possibly not what was being sought, but this guitar tone and approach reminds me of Schofield meets Muscle Shoals' Jimmy Johnson. Both are imaginary vision board in my head of what one should sound like.
