Amazing... after all these years, it still comes across as powerful and credible as it did in the late 70's. I just can't think of another band that can do this. Robin's voice is still strong, and they haven't lost it. I saw them in concert many times during the 70's and 80's. This makes me proud to be a Cheap Trick fan.
I was at that show, happened to be in Burbank on business for Cessna Aircraft Company, working on their behalf to improve and tune the whell-brake metering valve lap assemblies at Eaton Hydraulics-Sterer Division. When we wrapped up work on the M750 BMV late that afternoon I drove up to to Griffith Park so I could look around the famous Griffith Observatory, thats when I proverbially stumbled on the legendary Greek Theater complete with a marquee showing Cheap Trick - Live that evening, . I was 47 years old that year, time forges on and I'm 55 years old now thankful I had enough smarts and cash to purchase a ticket, as it's such a wonderful memory of beautiful southern California on a fall evening, watching and listening to Cheap Trick rock that venue and bring everyone to their feet for a spectacular finale. Robin Zander hasn't lost a note... man, he still belts it out IN KEY! I saw Cheap Trick with .38 Special back in 1984 and that was one fantastic concert. Rick was his usual nutty self and who'd have it any other way? Great fun, great music.
I come back to this video year after year.. the happy face on the violinist and how much she's getting into it always gets me. best song in the world from the best band in the world.
Absolutely my favorite song by them (that’s why we are all here watching isn’t it?!). This is one of the best live versions of any song ever and now just months shy of their 50th anniversary. Time to replay it, again.
This is a perfect tune. No weakness anywhere. Structure, dynamics, theme, chorus, everything. It doesn't get too much better than this.. If George Martin was the 5th Beatle, Rick Nielsen was the 6th..
+Alex Fullick it was Awesome Alex... I drove down from San Francisco for it... would love to do it all over again... gota see Cheap Trick as a headliner, they kick some out great shows... as an opener they are ok but only play the same ol' hits...you wanna see a complete show from top to bottom!
I agree they TOTALLY need to do a Bluray of the Dream Police shows. I am a bit frugal on ticket prices but after CT got rained out at our fair in 2010 i went to Milwaukee for my bday & saw the show. TOTALLY a mindblowing show-playing in an area about the size of my house with great acoustics. Both of Rick's boys play--the drummer is a great Bun E sub & the guitarists sings amazingly like Robin. If you have a chance to see the show, you won't be disappointed. A new set every night.

I know that your comment is a year old, but I just saw Cheap Trick for the first time at Coney Island on July 12th this year. I am still knocked out by these guys. I actually wrote on Facebook that the concert was the best concert I have ever seen by anyone and I meant it. I have been a U2 fan forever and I cannot remember how many great concerts I have seen by them. And Cheap Trick blew me away completely. And I mean it.
I just saw Cheap Trick for the first time at Coney Island Brooklyn on July 12th. They blew me away! I still keep going over that concert in my head! I cannot get enough video of them!!
Yup, I first saw them in 1977 when they opened for KISS in San Francisco at the Cow Palace. Was a fantastic show. Have seen them live at least 25 times live since that first concert. These guys always put on a great show. Glad they finally made it into the RRHOF!!!!!!!
I was there, about 15 rows back, aisle seat on Tom's side of the stage. It was AMAZING! But of course, they ALWAYS are! Rick sang the first verse of "World's Greatest Lover;" said something about a bet. They filmed the entire concert. Cameras everywhere, getting every angle; said they were going to release a video of the entire show, but as far as I know, never did. Glad to see they made good use of some of the footage! Really a great show, at a great venue. There are no bad seats at the Greek. I saw an amazing performance of the Stone Temple Pilots (the tour with the giant lava lamps onstage) there too, a few years before this during Scott Weiland's spikey red hair/smudged eyeliner phase. Just a remarkable sound system at this place. Outdoor amphitheater in Griffith Park up in the Hollywood Hills.
