Nicely done, looks superb, the weathering really takes the plastic model look away, Thanks for the upload.

You, Sir, have got yourself a new sub. Clear, concise, informative, excellent editing... just the ticket. I know some people like to watch others work at the whole thing for an hour or more, but your concise and sharp style really suits me. I might get get my Airbrush out of its box for the first time and do that 40 year old Hornby Class 29 I've been promising myself to do. Looking forward to more of your vids when you have time. Cheers!

Very handy weathering Vid RR. Also pinched your model cradle idea just up-scaled the foam for 0 gauge. Thanks

Putting kadee couplers makes it more realistic

Very good, you didn't overdo it like so many other channels and you didn't use black apart from details where it's supposed to be.

Fantastic video. Trying to get started with my own weathering so was great to watch. Wouldn’t have minded seeing the varnish going on though. This is what I’m most unsure about. (How many passes? do you thin it? Do you clean the wheels after?) look forward to the next one of the Class 60

hey ! thanks for the kind words :d
i usually do a pass then let dry and do a second and that should do.. if you feel it needs a 3rd then go for it !
the wheels are normally fine bit if you find your loco stutering then using isopropal alcohol or a little bit of nail varish remover on a cotton bud and try cleaning them :)

Incredible weathering and great advice. Got anything on coaches? Like modern MK2 and MK3 coaches. That's something I'd like to do with a realistic effect.

Nicholas Ham It’s a very similar process… I could make a video soon though for you?

@@RustyRailsModelling Oh wow that would be great! :-) Passenger stock and later generation DMU's are ones I want to get right with weathering. And I'm sure there's some modellers who'd like that as well, especially with the MK3 sliding door versions out now and the newer MK2e and Mk2f coaches out.

Are you supposed to put a matt varnish on first before you do any weathering so that the paint you're putting on will stick to it then when you finish your weathering reapply a coat of matt varnish?

Hi when you do the varnish part last do you use thinners or just put in a brush and off you go??

I'm so sorry for my billions of questions, but........
Is this gonna ruin the model if it gets into the mechanism? Does this work well on kits like a GWR Clerestory Coach? Should I tape off parts of the model? Is there a way to undo a mistake? Does this work on all models?
    Sorry, man!

    • @RustyRailsModelling
      @RustyRailsModelling  3 года назад

You should be okay with not damaging the loco… If it’s just a coach then it shouldn’t do too much because there is no electronic components on most of them, if you take parts of the model off then that’s totally up to you but if you tape over a weathered area it could pull the weathering up… If you wish to remove parts of the weathering then use Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab but again be really careful you don’t remove the original paintwork… If you check out my latest video where I whether a class 37 you will see me do exactly this towards the end

Like the vid, hate the annoying background 'music' and wearing shades indoors.
