    Hi from the UK, in the video you show a can of Krylon Matte Finish but later on you talk about using "the matte finish from Testors". Just wanted to check which you normally use. As always, thanks for the video.

    The white on the letters looks like snow it should be the yellow factory color that wood actually be under the letters as they peeled. This is a step that most people forget altogether credit to you for knowing to do it but it almost never be white. Keep up the very good work

    I also use Krylon Matte, but I use the spray tip from a Testors Dullcoat can, and warm the can of Krylon before using (a minute or two tucked between your thighs works - sounds weird, but….). It produces a finer and less blotchy finish…

    I don't want to disapoint you but your UP AC 6000 is in fact an AC 6044 convertable with a 4400hp prime mover. You can tell this by the bath tub exhaust stack that all AC4400s have. AC6000s have two smaller square exhaust stacks. All the same you have done a fantastic weathering job on it.

    Is it possible could you compile a list of your most used/most recommended paints for when it comes to weathering? Trying to get into weathering and I'm at a complete loss on what paints I should get first to get my brushes wet for general weathering. Love the videos mate. ^^

    Very good weathering video. I wonder if a model paint manufacturer will offer a "fade the paint" in a spray can. Like a dull coat or matte clear with a hint of white or gray color.

    Great video! I noticed that you patched out the SP unit, and I want to try some realistic patching on my trains. Both stuff like the cleaner UP patch work, and the more rough PRLX patch work. Do you think you could do a tutorial on that sometime in the future?

    Well, there is really several sides to this coin. Some want realistic weather look and some the new engine is a work of art out of the box. I wonder if it was sold new out of the box weathered the feeling would be the same.

      coffeecat450 it’s a step light, it’s so if the crew is at a crew change at night they can see the steps and the trucks/ wheels

      It's known as a "truck light." Sometimes in the cab of a locomotive it can be difficult to tell if you are moving or not and crew will often look out of the window to the ground for reference. The light helps illuminate the ground so the crew can tell if / how fast they are moving at night. Thanks!

    It would be awesome if you would do a video on something like this without an airbrush. For a military guy in a small room, an airbrush isn’t an option for me. I try my best to do fading with powders and paints but I could definitely use some tips from you

    Have you tried mineral spirits for wheel and track cleaning? There has been many posts lately saying that rubbing alcohol is not a good cleaner for electrical items.

    I liked how you weathered your engine, could you use white weathering powder to fade the engine and get the same as your engine if I used weathering powders and enemal washes ? Due to I don't do airbrushing. I'm also from the UK and love the American locomotives.

      Thank you. I believe you can, but light weathering powder is difficult, as most of it goes away after a clear coat. I will give it a shot and let you all know how it turns out.

    I've never weathered a loco before (yet) but I feel like I would be nervous to be wiping the powders over the grates while the shell is still on the body. Am I worrying for no reason?

    I used huge miniatures powder. It doesn't adhere. Dunno how you get it to adhere to the plastic but it doesn't using a dry paint brush.

      Previously we used Floquil, but they discontinued their Model RR Color line (I believe they still produce standard colors though). Now we mostly use enamel paints by Model Master. For brushes, we dont have a particular brand, but we purchase them at a local Hobby Town store.

      I used a hobby knife to carefully cut out the door. Since it was brass, I was able to create a bend in the door and then I glued it back onto the model!

    You mention in the video testers dulecote but you show and mention the krylon brand. What do you use?

      I was actually researching dullcote products and heard him say Testors and see on the screen it's Krylon Matte Finish.
      I am sitting here wondering which one or should just buy the Krylon He's using. Looks like he trusts it.

      I picked up each of them for about $325 on Ebay. Now they're probably worth quite a bit more with the sound, lights, modifications, and weathering. I'm honestly not sure!
