Thanks a lot for the video! I am kind of glad I didn’t try to fix/deep clean my CM6150 myself. What a challenge to open it up! To any CM6 user, be very careful with the brew unit cleaning. Mine started to be difficult to put back in since awhile ago (feels like rubber resistance). I used force to push it because every time I was in a hurry to get my drink done after cleaning. Anyways, not sure it’s the grind coffee stuck and block the motor or what. I finally can’t push back in this time. No matter how much I pushed. I still can make the coffee in the morning but after I took the brew unit out, it never goes back in. Tried the on/off/on initialize. Tried the service menu initialize. Nothing worked. Especially the service menu initialize, it has no movement at all (but the normal on/off/on it still moves a bit). Strange, but I guess it’s fair to say the brewing unit motor has some issue. Went in Miele service center. Quoted me A$600! (Around A$400 for the parts and A$200 for labor I guess). Seeing how difficult it is to open up, I have no prob to pay the A$200 lol, though there is no guarantee it will fix the unit…
    Lessons learned:
    1. Do your weekly inside clean so no coffee ground would stuck the motor. Even though I’m not sure if that’s what broke mine, that’s the most possible reason. All in all it’s a bad design for things can build up to areas we couldn’t reach/clean…
    2. Miele repair is very expensive (as expected) and slow. The parts are impossible to find. Even if I wanted to try fix it myself, I probably won’t be able to get the parts…
    3. I managed to find CM6 service manual online for free. For anyone who is interested…www.manualslib.com/manual/2502726/Miele-Cm6.html?page=26#manual
Mine’s a 2.5 years machine, so it’s a bit of a shame to break so soon. Having said that, I really enjoy(ed) this machine.
If anyone know how to clean the inside easily and efficiently, do let me know please. The manual suggested using vacuum cleaner is kind of dumb tbh as we drink everyday so it’s kind of always a bit wet inside…and it still can’t go deep enough imo.

thanks for the video.. was very helpful.. 3+ yr old - 6350 owner here.. more than 8k coffee drinks since we bought it.. have the same issues as others here.. wet grinds in the gear mechanism and behind the removable cover on the inside of the brew cavity. I removed the top, both sides, the bean hopper and did a thorough cleaning. I did find some sediment / mold inside the silicone tubes connecting the water inlet to the pump. (the right side cover is easily removed and the water inlet is just connected to a silicone hose, no concern for removal of side panel) Pretty gross, and we use RO and Deionized water which is then remineralized prior to drinking. I also found the "chute" from the grinder to the brew unit was full of crusty caked grounds. We have only ever used Illy intenso beans..so perhaps too oily. idk. In any case I was able to really feel like I got a good deep clean and now have the knowledge to do some more repairs down the road.
Regarding the gunk around the brew unit gearing.. I suspect it is due to old/worn out o-rings on the brew unit.
I have searched high and low for any spare parts for this machine, apart from buying the molded plastic pieces or the brew unit, there is not much available. Any sources for o-rings, pumps etc? I did find a German site but was hoping for something a bit closer.

Well done! These things are made in same factory as Jura, same opening tricks (clips, way to hide screws ...) even parts look the same (ceramic valve, grinder, bottom feet...)
The last panel is not attached to the water inlet, you just slide it back the same way and lift it over the water inlet.

Thanks for the video. I had no clue how to remove the exterior side panels. I needed to remove the tank-side panel and am happy to say it is exactly the same as the side you removed. Just pull it towards the rear and the same 3 tabs will disengage. Once this is done, the clear hose from the tank to the internal pump can be pulled off. There is no hose clamp -it is simply a snug fit.

Interested to see what mods and hacks may be possible. I'm currently struggling with very poor suction from the milk pipe, a clear drop since the machine was newer and I think either there is manual cleaning needed somewhere or perhaps an o-ring/gasket needs to be replaced somewhere.

I didn't go as far as completely disassembling the internals as that looks like a nightmare.
For some reason my machine was having a hard time pulling shots like water wasn't getting through somewhere, so decided to try and take a part as much as possible. Also did the descaling/degreasing, so we'll see if it works.

    Nick, great video.
    I have the same unit.
We had to send our unit back to the factory because the grinder failed.
1.5 yrs later... grinder fails again.
Was going to see if I could take apart the machine to access the grinder.
Even though I watched your video, wasn't sure if I could get a replacement grinder and I don't have the plastic wedge to pop the hooks.
(BTW, I noticed 1 of yours looked cracked. )
As it turns out... Miele is now sending out technicians to repair rather than having to send it back.
At roughly 3K to replace... I didn't want to risk breaking it.
Where did you get the manual?
Also do you have a line on the spare parts?

Hi, My grinder is spinning but but my drinks keep getting canceled. I think its dirty/clogged. I'm about to take it apart but I'm wondering what they charged you for the visit. Can you share that? Thanks....

    • @michaelsegel8758
      @michaelsegel8758 10 месяцев назад

Ok, so the issue is that there's a sensor that can go bad within the grinder. And/Or it could be the brew unit. Both have sensors. The tech said that we should be cleaning the brew unit more frequently than what the machine tells us. Of course we're drinking ~4+ cups of coffee a day (or a multi-espresso shot iced latte) YMMV.
You can call Miele directly and they can tell you the costs. What the biggest cost issue is going to be the parts.
I am not sure if they are sending out techs everywhere.
The other issue is the oil content of your beans.
The costs were less than buying a new machine and the big take away... you need to probably get into a routine of cleaning it on a regular pattern than waiting for the machine to tell you it needs cleaning. Also lube the brew unit on a regular basis too.

Yes, it does. After these activation instructions there is a large table to isolate every sensor/component and its functionality. Icons do not convey in below so I tried to verbally represent the icons.
Boy, I'd love Miele to have some better software/app configurability/hacking on this thing. I know the newer ones have wifi.
      Service Mode
      Initial requirements:
      Switch the appliance off.
Accessing: Note: Accessing must occur within 2 seconds. Do not press the buttons too quickly.
      1. Press and hold the (Three horizontal lines with small arrow bottom right) button.
      2. Press the on/off button once.
      3. Release the (Three horizontal lines with small arrow bottom right) button.
      4. Press the (Three horizontal lines with small arrow bottom right) button again 3 times and hold on the 3rd time until the
      service mode is displayed.
Acknowledgement indicator: Service mode is displayed, along with the service functions.
      Options:
      1. Press the (Up Arrow) or (Down Arrow) touchpad until the desired function is marked.
      2. Press OK.

So I watched this instead of going through service manual to disassemble my espresso machine as it had a leak and wanted to see what is going on. I ended up removing all panels as I wanted to do a complete cleaning and check all components. I had to trick the machine into brewing coffee dissasembled as to see where the leak it's coming from which is not too difficult but not that easy either, lots of switches and sensors. Ended up finding the leak and saved myself a lot of cashola as Miele doesn't provide much repair info and doesn't sell parts to consumers either.

Miele tells me that they (now) do sell parts to consumers. Their "authorized service center" for countertop machines were a disaster (they broke more than they fixed), so Miele dispatched one of their "built-in" service providers (Miele appliance dealer's service dept) and they finally replaced the ceramic valve.

Did you see coffee grounds and mold inside your unit? I'm wondering if something is wrong with mine.
Next to the brew unit drive gear, there's a panel with 6 torx screws. Behind that panel is a brew unit pipe connection, a clear syringe thing, and a spring. Mine had coffee residue at the brew unit pipe connection up top, and coffee grounds all over the two lower areas. In some places there was a thin film of white fuzzy mold.
It's hard to believe all CM6350 owners are just living with chunks of coffee and mold in their machine. Maybe all CM6 models have the same problem if they share the same design.
Can you film the inside of yours to compare please?
Also, does the service manual show how to clean or replace the syringe-spring device? Wonder what it's for...
And thank you for this video, it's the only one that clearly explains the cover removal process. It's a shame owners have to support each other after buying such an expensive machine.

Does anyone have any insight into fixing a recurring problem with the 6350 brewing coffee into the waste container instead of out the front? I've been troubleshooting this for a year. Replaced the brew unit a year ago. That helped for about 9 months. Then it started acting up again. For a while, if I removed the brew unit and rinsed it and jiggled around with the mechanism, this would fix it for about 3 days. then I'd have to do it all over again. now even that has stopped working. It's 5 years old and has almost 10k cups brewed. So it has certainly put in its service. But I'd love to get another year or two out of it if anyone has any insight. Miele technical support and customer service is, predictably, useless...

Hi Chris I have a CM6310, about 6 years old, but has worked well until recently. The machine seems to do everything except the coffee occasionally goes to the drip tray instead of the cup. Is this your problem? I bought an online service manual and pulled off the panels, as in the video, and found a lot of ground coffee in the machine! Cleaned this out, but it didn't fix the issue. Reading the manual I feel the problem lies with the ceramic valve??? I am not game to take this out at this stage, but would be interested in any comments.

I found an amazing solution… accidentally. I was having this problem incessantly. Came very close to throwing the machine in the garage. As a last ditch effort I ordered a replacement brew unit on eBay. I didn’t pay the full Miele price, I just took a gamble and ordered a generic one from some seller overseas.
