    James, that was not Zinchenko, it was Xhaka. Why I'm pointing out this harmless detail is because that's another huge change in tactics that Arsenal are using now - Xhaka as a box to box midfielder. This allows Zinchenko to do the things he has been as well. Would love to hear your take on all of that.

    Ruben was used to devastating effect vs Real Madrid in our 2nd Leg game, as well as in our 6-0 win over Southampton. Winning the mid battle and pinning spurs wingbacks back, was always the key strategy to defeating a Conte team, as he is too heavily reliant and playing direct balls to the front 3, with wingbacks supporting. If you can stop his Wingbacks supporting the forwards, they get isolated.
    Massive shame our dominant performance didnt get a win, due to some poor finishing in key moments on our part, but most importantly, Taylor assisting them in the key moments. The fact VAR reviewed Cucurella's hair getting pulled and condoned, sets a bad precedent in the league now. Based on this decision, every player should be allowed to do this in the prem now, thats whats being set.
    Great vid again

    • @m123c456r789
      @m123c456r789 2 года назад +3

      Fair complaint that Taylor missed the hair pull, but refs miss things all the time. Can't really complain about VAR unless you are trying to argue that Romero's actions were worthy of a straight red? It's definitely a free kick and a yellow if caught, but it wasn't. Not sure what other assists in 'key moments' you are talking about, there's some complaints about Bentancur's tackle on Havertz but that was completely clean. High quality tackle. Even if it was a foul, it wasn't part of the build-up to the goal.
      Putting the draw on Taylor is abdicating responsibility from your team for letting 4 of our players be the closest to the ball in the final set piece of the game, where everybody should be putting everything in to it. It's abdicating responsibility for Hojbjerg being left in space in open play. It's also stripping very just praise from our players, who even while being outplayed for the first 55 minutes, held on really well and defended your assaults admirably, it downplays Conte's tactical changes that flipped the flow of the game, and it downplays the strong mentality of our squad to keep coming back and pushing on to the final moments. That final point is symbolised by the 4 of our heads coming to the final corner of the game without a Chelsea player in sight. Spurs wanted the point more than Chelsea wanted to hold the 3, that's the key factor in the result.

    • @bongos6510
      @bongos6510 2 года назад +10

      @@m123c456r789 dermot Gallagher confirmed earlier today that the hair pull was a red card incident, even if it wasn’t caught by Taylor, var should have gone back to issue a red card and a free kick to Chelsea. I don’t personally understand how you can be allowed to pull someone’s hair with force and still remain on the pitch. Furthermore, both goals came after incidents that, rightfully or otherwise, angered the Chelsea players. This is not a coincidence, it’s clear that teams are vulnerable on psychological level when a major decision goes against them. I don’t think you can blame the Chelsea players’ desire, because they were not in the right headspace to defend a corner following a blatant missed call.

      @@m123c456r789 Think you're conflating 2 seperate points, that should be called as a simple foul 2bh. Conte's change had to come considering they did nothing most of the game and ultimately, they benefitted off of luck. For us, it was better for spurs to open up as we were finally able to expose them in the transition, hence why we moved to a 3-4-3 to counter that
      sometimes luck plays a part, its a shame that it involved poor decision making from the referee tho

    People don’t realise that RLC played RWB last season in a few games. I think more than a few but I can’t remember the exact number so I’ll just say a few.
    And we know where RLC’s home is, he’s just constantly played out of position. He’s only been played in his favoured position under one manager, Sarri. He’s an 8, and he prefers the left side. Ever since Sarri left we’ve been playing with a back 3, and he was also injured. He’s not a winger, he isn’t a 6, he isn’t a striker (where Conte and Parker tried to play him because he’s tall maybe?). He’s played all of these positions in his career, and does well out wide because he’s a really good dribbler and is quick. But he is an attacking 8.

I think if we have introduced fresh legs immediately after our second goal or at least after Southamptons first goal we would have held on for the win. March needs to take learning from this, LEeds also need to go out and buy another striker as competition for Bamford as its clear his body will not hold up for the full season.

    Most interesting thing to me was Spurs didn't do what they normally do when their a goal down their heads used to drop and just lose it, I remember Conte said early when he went there, an important thing they needed to learn is : if you can't win a game don't lose it. This was a real test. Their boogeyman is Chelsea, much like Spurs are Man city's. Normally Spurs would lose this game and not be trying till the last moment to win , yesterday was different. Conte is changing things.

    Love this series. Still don't get the Reece James opinion here though? He played aggressive RCB for most of the game - free reign to go and hit Son/Kane when they dropped into midfield. Moved to RWB when Azpi came on after Spurs equalised (messing up the use of heat map/average position)
    James played such a key tactical role here and really gives a blueprint for how to stop Spurs attack

    Regarding the Leeds game. Conceding the two goals in the second half did not come as a result of losing Bamford or style of play. It came due to Jessie March not making the right substitutions early enough. Players where totally knackered and needed to be subbed earlier. However a fit Bamford on the pitch would have led to Leeds scoring another goal imo.

    Watching the Leeds game I think we deserved to win tbh, Bamford loss didn’t help but we still created decent chances. Think we just ran out of energy and waited too long to make subs, already 2-2 by the time Marsch made his first sub excluding the bamford sub, had around 10 mins between their 2 goals where we could’ve brought on fresh legs and ultimately paid the price by not doing so! Would’ve taken a point away before the game but disappointed to not take all 3 in the end.
