    They're chrome metal is very easy to scratch (with microfiller enamel primer BASE) , how do you protect that without using a clear coat that removes the whole metal effect

    I watch the Green Stuff World video and they went from no coverage to complete coverage in a blast from the airbrush. That makes sense because when you brush paint it you put on a very heavy coat and the paint flows into a uniform surface. Airbrushing on light even coats allows the paint to dry before it can start the flow effect. My 2 cents.

    Must be something in the cure that gives the chrome shine. With the airbrush causing the alcohol to evaporate so quickly, the paint isn't curing normally. Great vid as always.

  • @monzter221

    Maybe you're supposed to go at it super thick right from the 1st coat? To the point where it almost drips since when using a brush a thick coat is applied.

    Well that’s disappointing I have a set of these coming. GSW told me on their IG that these were both airbrush and brush on. When I asked what the difference was between this Chrome Metal and the other two versions (Mirror) they told me it was basically the same. Also I’ve had the best luck airbrushing their Mirror Chrome at 12-15 psi on heavy and wet. Any higher than 15 psi atomizes the paint on the surface and gives it a duller finish.

    Those are very nice paints. One of the usual issues I find with gold paints is that they don't usually look gold, rather a gold colour but these look very much like your wedding ring when it was visible at the same time as a painted piece, so it's nice to know a brand has proper gold colours. Cheers old chap.

  • @ItsDrMcQuack
    @ItsDrMcQuack 2 года назад +1

    I'm thinking the shine could come from a leveling agent of some kind. flat = shiny, bumpy = dull. Perhaps you didn't apply a thick enough layer with the airbrush to let it self level, or maybe the paint dries a tiny bit when applied by airbrush.
    did you try applying a really heavy coat with the airbrush? Maybe several thin layers won't give the same effect either.

    OK. I bought the entire set, including two AIRBRUSH Chromes. Did little heavy test patches. They look awesome! Now, my problem. As usual, the paints company gives us little to go on. I don't even know what they are? Acrylic, alcohol acrylic, enamel, laquer? What do I need to thin these puppies to airbrush them. And NOT kill the shine? And what to use to seal them, or is that even needed? Again, without killing the shine. Aquagloss is near impossible to purchase .Have E7, and Gauzy, as well as micro gloss. I am gonna need some AWESOME copper and brass. These have all the signs of being great. Thanks for the review! Cheers

Spray one thick coat. Its amazing. I wish i could send you a picture of what i did. Dont touch it for 2 weeks though . It takes s while to dry. Youll dull it by touching it

  • @highorbit3282

    I'm not sure what percentage it is but if 91% is good maybe alcohol fuel for a camp stove might be better. I don't know what the percentage is or what else is in it but it's a suggestion. I'd try it but I don't have this paint.

    I think it`s dulling the paint because non technical IPA have a little water content, time ago I tried mr Hobby leveling thinner with a little retarder to thin the non airbrush version of GSW chrome paint, and shine very nicely.

  • @craigwest8386
    @craigwest8386 2 года назад +1

    Looks to me like it's drying too fast when airbrushed, thus the metallic pigments are not rising to the top like they do when brushed on. I may be way off base. I want to do some experimenting of my own with them. Exceptional prices on the paint products. Postage isn't terribly bad either. Thanks much for the introduction to the chrome line. I've used their metallic paints brushed on in the past and like them. Very similar to Vallejo IMO.

  • @johnblack9885

  • @DMNKLR_official

    Well, admittedly, GSW do say that they don't recommend using it on large surfaces, so those results kinda make sense. Also, did you try reducing it with ethanol/denatured alcohol? Their site says to *clean it* with alcohol, but makes no mention of reduction methods.

    Hey thanks for the video Barbatos ! I got these paints to go on a resin print prop and they look amazing!
    I ran into an issue while using them though, maybe someone out there knows the answer?
    The issue is the paints don't seem to dry/harden very well. I used a brush to paint them on a prop that was handled quite a bit. The top layer is tacky and soft, and you can easily leave a fingerprint in it, even 24 hrs after drying. The paint doesn't come off on you, or off of the prop, but the paint loses its luster. It's really noticeable on larger, flatter surfaces as well. Is there some kind of curing agent you're supposed to use with them?
    If anyone knows...
