If we applied draft in the extrude feature, the ribs in the middle of the part would end up being much thicker at their base than the ribs at the ends of the part due to the curvature of the part. By extruding without draft and applying draft manually after the ribs are trimmed to a uniform height, we can be sure that the base of every rib is 60% of the nominal wall thickness and avoid visible sink marks on the exterior surface of the part. It's a little bit more work, but it makes a huge difference in the quality of the molded part!
