I received a couple of the 52Pi coolers. I have one installed on my 8gig. (Another 8gig coming from PiShop) I did some video testing and it worked like yours at 60c.
I turned the controller off and just let it run. I don't hear it run due to other fans. I figure the cooler it runs the longer it will last, maybe. Idle it runs about 30c, so it's keeping the network & memory chips cool too!

The old low profile ice tower cooler which comes with deskpi pro and full size ice tower cooler only touches the cpu and this new cooler's mount plate touches all the chipset and cpu .. so comparing all these coolers will give us someone helpful results..
I still wonder if cooling the other chipset helps in any performance or not...

One of the greatest drawback of the Pi, not spoken about on release by Ebon Upton, which always increases it's real world price. I hope that we see more up front honesty when the next iteration comes along.

    • @terrydaktyllus1320

The price of a Pi isn't under the Pi Foundation's control as much as you think it is. The Foundation is a registered charity here in the UK, and rightfully so because of the focus it has on schools and education - but being a registered charity places restrictions on profits and profit margins.
If the prices of silicon increases on the global markets because of supply issues (particularly in the past couple of years) then you have to appreciate that everyone from Apple, Samsung, Huawei and many car manufacturers are going to be competing to get their hands on that silicon to make their own products with - and as global corporations anyway, they have a lot more flexibility in terms of reducing profit margins just to pay higher prices for it, and power and influence because of how big they are.
From what I see of Eben Upton and the employees at the Pi Foundation, they don't seem to be living particularly extravagant lifestyles and I am sure, therefore, they are paying themselves fair salaries also - which, again, will probably have some restrictions due to the charity status.
We live in a capitalist society which means you can take a physical object that you've made, or an idea you have, and charge whatever you like for it based on what you think "the market" will pay for it. Many retail businesses are recovering from the past couple of years, they are naturally going to try to recoup losses and increase their prices as a result.
I am not saying it's a "fair" system but that's how it works - Eben Upton can "estimate" the price of each Pi and he can attempt to supply re-sellers with enough units at a low enough bulk retail cost to encourage those re-sellers to sell at the price he wants. But if people are prepared to pay more in a time of limited supply, then that's external market forces outside of Eben's control.
I think it's also very easy to be hypocritical in this kind of discussion without realising it. I am lucky enough to own my own home, and the one I have now is the fourth one that I've moved into. I was always amazed at the price all my old houses got compared to what I paid for them, but I happily sold them at that higher price - even when they may have been over-valued at the time. That's the same market forces benefiting me that lets someone else sell a Raspberry Pi on eBay for twice its retail price - so to complain about it would be hypocritical.

I'm prepared to be proved wrong but I don't see a Pi 5 being released until the global manufacturing and supply problems are resolved - and it probably would not make sense doing so during a global economic crisis anyway. You need to appreciate that the Pi is geared at education as well, and many schools here in the UK don't know how they are going to cover their heating costs this coming Winter - so one of the first budgets to be scrapped by them will be IT-related purchases just to pay increased fuel bills.
The Pi Foundation is a registered charity here in the UK, it's not a fully-fledged profit-making corporation and I personally think it would be a "cynical" move by them to release a new "top-level" Pi that would ultimately be seen as making the existing Pi 4 redundant to at least some degree - that would make schools look even worse at being unable to provide the latest hardware to students.
I think what the Pi Foundation may do is release more Pi's at the lower end, so ultimately producing new versions of the Pi Zero which can still be sold at very low cost and require fewer components in manufacture anyway.
I also get frustrated by comments like this on RUclips anyway - not just in this channel but in any channel that does any kind of hardware reviews. Why are so many people never happy with "what they have now" and are always looking towards "the next thing coming"? This was particularly true when the Steam Deck was released - literally on the day of release, YT was plagued with comments like "Steam Deck is great, looking forward to Steam Deck 2".
I wish people would learn to use what hardware they have properly and understand how to optimise operating systems (particularly free ones like Linux) to get the best out of that hardware, rather than coming to these rapid decisions that "it's still too slow" and then demanding the next upgrade.
One final point - if there is such a demand for existing Pi's that very few people seem to be able to get hold of anyway, why release anything new if demand for existing models is still there?

    • @hatrez4285
      @hatrez4285 Год назад

@@terrydaktyllus1320 My comment was just a speculation. Like anyone else I don’t have any clue when the "new Pi" will be released.
My speculation was just based on the frequency release dates of new generation RPIs.
Also yes, people may crave for new standards, new features, ML, better IO latency, better performance etc.
And note that the performance aspect was the reason why this video was made in the first place.

@@terrydaktyllus1320 Actually, I striked "I have read" but because this is his channel I left it because he would see the removal.
I thought it could be seen as too snarky and I did not want to be. I have enjoyed his channel since I discovered it.
      But to answer you directly:
I was quoting him. I, really, have no idea why 27 (GPIO 0) is not accessible in other distros.
He has, however reviewed the 400 and it is, also, a huge heatsink but 'without' a fan. and he was impressed with OV12 and 2400 and was impressed how cool it stayed.
Looking into his videos he says he will review it if it is sent to him. So I think that is the real answer.
He reviews coolers and cases sent to him.
      No problem.

@@LilRedDog I didn't ask for an explanation, nor did I read past the first sentence - you wasted your time writing the rest of it and now you just look a bit "sad" trying to wriggle out of blatant hypocrisy.
Leave it there, sonny, I don't want to see you making yourself look even more silly.

@@leepspvideo what’s the best way to control its speed? It’s no where near as loud as my old fan but it’s still loud. I think mines on 8V, I just did what the instructions told me to do.
This cooler is really good though, my temps are like 28-31 on idle now.
