I Made An Only Fans Case For My Raspberry Pi - How Does It Perform?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 июл 2024
- In this video, I'm going to build a case for my Raspberry Pi using as many 5V fans as possible to see if more cooling is required for better performance. This is a significant step up from the usual single fan and Ice Tower that I use on my standard Raspberry Pi desktop case design.
Now we just need to get Alex at @LinusTechTips to build an Only Fans PC case!

If you've got any ideas for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or other Electronics projects or tutorials you'd like to see, let me know in the comments section. Наука
I gotta say, I wasn't sure I'd be a fan of this idea, but it's certainly blown me away.
That's a good joke.
I see what you "said there " LOL
Username checks out.
Making a noise is one thing, actually changing the direction of atmosphere is another
@@user-cr4sc1ht9t what
Next idea: get a 40mm deep 40 or 60mm 30,000 rpm server fan and strap that to the Ice tower, and see how that performs!
Some of those high rpm server fans are scary to be around when they're running! It's definitely something I should try out.
@@MichaelKlements Jeff's getting his kicks vicariously while he's in recovery... 😶
it will perform admirably and will tranform the pi into a drone!!!!
@@MichaelKlements Dont forget to screw your case onto the desk, else you gonna have a Raspberry Fly
I always thought the IceTower was a bit of overkill but this certainly has it beat by a mile. Well done again!
Now I wanna see an Only Flans case
Haha
would be nice to have a case where 1 side is just a large low profile noctua fan for intake and the other side is 1 large fan for outtake.
You mean exhaust, not outtake
You're a smart man using Only Fans in the title, I'd imagine it increase your click through rate but could actually cause the algorithm to deboost your videos chances of been show near other videos or in recommendations
This is overkill
...I love it! 👍🤣👊
If it isn't that noise, it could serve as a geeky xmas ornament... at least for the next few days.
Another great idea Michael I do love your designs. Would like to ask a question what laser cutter would you recommend for acrylic mainly
Thank you. It really depends on your budget. If you're wanting to cut acrylic then you need a CO2 machine - for low budget I'd look at a K40, if you've got a bit more to spend then the Gweike Cloud that I've been using is great.
That was a fun exercise. I wonder if the fans would have balanced out if you ran 3 or 4 in series fed by 12V. Fan speed a little slower. Lower power requirement from supply. More curious than suggestion.
What I would have done was use a old thin client PSU that has both 12V and 5V.
then use 12V fans, and have the pi control a relay upon boot, that activates all fans.
Did you have fans run different directions to pull and push air in one side and out the other?
Yes, half and half
Why not make a case using a larger fan say 2 x 80mm Noctua's one push one pull over that nice big heatsink you have..
Cooling is a function of how much air is moving not the number of fans. Would it be better to use 2 80mm fans or a single 120mm fan? A 40mm fan moves about 20CFM. A Cooler Master Jetflo 120mm fan moves 97 CFM.
This a cool idea. I'm a huge fan.
This blows me away
i think the fans blowing in different directions could be detrimental.
left side in right side out is a good arrangement,
but the fans that try to move air at a 90° angle to that might be hindering the simple crossflow.
i ponder that the most energy efficient way would be three or six fans blowing air through the case with a large opening at the oposing side, and all other ventilation closed.
That video description maaaaan. :DDD
BTW the case looks sick but i would never use anything like this. It have 23 more fan then it needed so as u mentioned the power consumption went up by a lot and it is just a waste to get the temperature down by 3-4 celsius. The fans also make heat and they power supply also make extra heat.
Forget the fan... water cool it!!! Get a single 120mm rad pump combo and make your own water block for the CPU.
He already did that

Only Fans case?
Does it denude itself on cam?
That is pretty wild!
I'd love to see you try out one of my EZ Fan 2 boards to cycle the fans on and off as needed. LMK if you'd like me to send one (or more over!)
That sounds interesting, do you have a link to a description of what they do? I assume these are to turn 2 pin fans on or off using the digital pins or a PWM input?
Now......let's try a peltier element with a heatsink?
I need to work on my soldering so that I can put together a custom heatsink to work with a peltier element
I'd like to see all top fans be blowing outwards (hot air goes up naturally), and slightly more fans blowing inside than outside as to build a slight positive pressure
I REALLY like how the ports and the two fans looked!!! It was like they made up a face with either a blinking or black eye LOL (because they were facing opposite directions) - Maybe you could turn this into a case design..... you could make some air guides to direct the air in through the one fan, through the ice tower, then out the other.... I think this would work even better than you typical ice tower/uni-fan design AND the 'Only Fans' case (LOVE THAT NAME LMAO!!) - If you look at how servers are built they have fan in the front of the case blowing in, and that's it... but the CPU coolers are dense, short stacks that use that high air flow very well... and a lot of companies that build servers use air guides to almost compress the air so that its squeezed down to the width of the cooler. And they use this single front-to-back air flow to cool everything inside the rack mount blade server... it's SUPER efficient
So with this idea of efficient usage the air guides would be best if they were curved if you were to use the two front fans going in opposite direction. You could have a divider between the fans going to the tower, and the sides of the case would have the curve to guide the into the tower fins (since the tower is perpendicular to the direction of the fans output) ..... Yes it would be more efficient to just put one fan on each side of the power for this push-pull configuration, but where's the fun in that? lol this way you get to make that face with the fans and ports and it's totally different than what you you usually do.... I think it would have it's own challenges.... ESPECIALLY if you were to use acrylic - but you could heat it with an air gun if you have one, or blow-torch would work too.. I've seen it done a few times - but this way the sides and the rear are all one curved piece... but you could make the top and bottom just some 3d-printed caps you just clip on (but you'd have to get the measurements just right after you bend the acrylic) ... idk why I'm telling you how to do it LOL I'm just working out the steps in my head and typing my thoughts... you know what you're doing.... it might make for an interesting case and build, and you get new content :D I hope you like it and make it.. if not, it's no biggie :)
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely keep this in mind for a future build. Haha, now that you mention it, it does look like a face!
I am a fan of the fan case. 😂 What would be interesting: as the small fans produce only little air flow, what would happen if you replace the sides with only 1 big fan each with massive air flow? I think the ice tower is not ventilated properly with the turbulences of 24 small fans. So if you want to have another go: only two 80/90mm fans left and right in push-pull config, rest of the case completely closed.
Have you made raspberry pi case to allow various pi hats? Many hats requiring different space and cooling requirements.
a case for 1 noctua fan 92x92x14 or 1 noctua 80x80x25
I wonder what people will do when they 'get wind' of this idea?
If you put wings on it, it just might fly!
With the latest version of Bullseye, the pi 4 runs at 1.8 gHz base speed instead of 1.5 gHz.
The fan case looks like it's ready for Christmas 🎄
I hadn't noticed that they have changed the base clock frequency, thanks for letting me know.
The CM4s still run at 1.5Ghz. I recently flashed them on my DeskPi Super6c^^
you should try negative pressure, orient all fans outwards, it should get you lower temperatures
i don;t think it matters. so much cable clutter from the fans defeats any singnificant air movement.
@@giornikitop5373 if the fans point out, it wont matter the "air movement" since its gonna deal with pressure. it just needs to be properly sealed (not air tight, although this ain't strong fans, air still needs to get in somehow but need to be restricted to cause the low pressure)
Expanding air (into a negative pressure space like this) will drop the air temperature, but only very slightly because the pressure difference is not going to be that significant. A 5 Pa drop in pressure, which is probably a bit more than what these fans would achieve, would only drop the internal temperature by around half a degree celcius.
[insert generic joke about onlyfans and how the raspberry gets blown here]
Needs more fans.
pity there were a few fans that weren't spinning
the only only fans that isnt hot
LMAO
It looks like you got bored one day and thought. Hmmm. I wonder what it would look like with a bunch of fans on a pi.
it is so stupid. I like it!
I hate this title LMFAO
hahah genial.
лучше бы водяное охлаждение поставил, чем кучу вентиляторов.
anyone else saw "only fans" and thought of something else
Enough of fans, usually fan with good quality suchlike noctua is sufficient for be only fan.
so this is this onlyFans everyone is talking about?
Hehehehe
:d
OnlyFans case
seriously silly
Stupid idea. Why so many SMALL fans?
what. a waste of energy
i couldnt find you on only fans....
