I have the black version. Be aware that heatsinks are a problem particularly if you are going to use the provided fan. You can get an SSD in the "zero" side but the cable still routes to the usb. There is probably enough room for a battery also

I like these all-in-one type cases. I'd love to see one with a wired full sized keyboard that has slots for using four Pi's so you could set up a cluster. Maybe two versions, one for compute modules and one for regular Pi's, but not requiring them to all be the same.

    • @terrydaktyllus1320

A compute module version would be interesting...

    • @STORMFIRE07
      @STORMFIRE07 Год назад

unfortunately, that's difficult to achieve without sacrificing area or the height to the point it doesn't make sense anymore as a keyboard, take a look into Jeff geerling's video on pi clusters, the pi clusters require a switch+poe just to make them communicate with each other, if you go with a single board solution with pi4 compute module, it gets to the size of a mini itx motherboard

Nice video review. I really like to solid feel of this case when pi4b is installed and how compact it is. There's a bit so scope to have an updated version for storage and better access to gpio & microSD slot, but using Flash drive is Good option. I used a craft knife on cut-outs to get a neater finish. Hope Raspberry Pi plastics make some more and/or revisions.

This is a great idea, I am probably gonna modify the design and 3D print one that looses pi zero 2 in favor of getting a HDD or SSD in it along with a powerbank for the portable pi

Really like the idea of this keyboard, like most people I see potential for a updated version (or hacks), with external to access SD card slots, SSD or M2 internal storage, track pad built into top left of keyboard and even on/off buttons. I will checking out and having a play that's for sure.

I personally prefer the Pi 4B 8GB in the Vilros keyboard/touchpad hub. It is more like a stealthy C64 in Black. I love the 8bitdo N30 wireless mouse as well. I use Berryboot Retro Pi and Berryboot Lakka mostly although Lakka needed a Bluetooth dongle and a Bluetooth Speaker if I remember correctly. Berryboot Retro Pi worked with no extra hassle. I do have the Pi 400 as well but I only use that for travel. Thanks for the video though. I really enjoyed it.

If they added an M.2 SATA to the RPi 400, even if it had a short USB3 shunt like other cases have, it would be great. Maybe on a future RPi 500?

Interesting case; I would also choose to use it with the Zero 2W and put a battery pack of some kind on the other side for a truly portable bit of kit, although I suspect you could make that work with a Pi4 as well.

This would be amazing if only they used e.g. full 75% keyboard layout. As it is now, it doesn't seem very comfortable as your main keyboard.
Does the keyboard remember and switch between paired devices, or do you have to reconnect every time when switching between pies?

I think that's a fairly standard Bluetooth keyboard, isn't it? I'm sure I've already got two of that exact same keyboard but in black, not white.
I wasn't sure about this keyboard when you started reviewing it because it initially seemed a bit "Heath Robinson" but it has some interesting ideas to it. I do like the similarity to the ZX Spectrum form factor.
I like the fact that it can simultaneously house a Pi 4 and Pi Zero 2 W and I started thinking to myself if it could be used with a HDMI KVM box so you can use it with one screen and just switch between the two Pi's. The only thing that would make that easier is if you could get a USB version of that same keyboard - you could then use a KVM with one keyboard and screen.
I also use PoE at home and putting PoE hats on both those Pi's (assuming you can get one for the Pi Zero 2 W) might also make for quite a neat setup.
I think I might pick one up just to see how might be able to mod it a bit - it's okay as it is but I think there's potential for more from it too.
Thanks for the review, this one's got the old "creative juices" going now!

Question: Couldn't you have plugged the micro USB charging cable from the keyboard directly to the Pi 4 (or hub for Pi Zero)? Shouldn't that put the keyboard into wired mode and then pair without need for another keyboard?
Otherwise I love the idea of a two-in-one design for Zero & 4B.

this doesn’t count as a self contained solution. even though it looks at first like it is trying to be an all in one solution, all the exposed dongles especially for the pizero to a usb hub prove otherwise.
the keyboard not connecting physically to either board gives the illusion it is one piece, but many times on different setups i’ve had issues with bluetooth not connecting properly and immediately after boot that a direct wired connection is preferred. this is evident when it takes like 1 to 3 extra minutes after boot to connect, which is considered a “successful” connection, but not a timely one.
also, wireless dongles keyboards (non-bluetooth) commonly used with pis transmit unencrypted that it’s not an option either to a wired solution.
