Hope the trip is going well, really enjoying watching all your videos, really useful info . We really like your approach honest and funny , carry on making the great videos. They are really useful for us as we are planning our European road trips.
Thank you😀 We do have another one coming out tomorrow (just finished it)😀. We’re not the most prolific of video makers😀. I really don’t want to feel that RUclipsr stress people seem to get and we’d rather make shortish videos that hopefully have some use and aren’t too boring😀 I think this trip is probably a four parter. I’m still trying to figure out how to make how we go about planning and budgeting at least a bit interesting. If all else fails I’ll just make one whole video at the end about it😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
Hiya😃 Yeah, they were a big influence on us. We could see that the older people didn't regret a minute of the travelling they had done😃. They often said that at the end of the day what you have are the memories 😃 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😃
Thanks Jackie😀 That’s really nice to hear. For us the short term contract construction work just got less and less. I still think I’m semi retired but in reality the last work i did was about 5 years ago😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
We did Hull to Rotterdam in June expecting to do half a dozen sites with the caravan. We ended up having a stopover each way at Wurzburg and stayed at camping grubhof in Lofer for ten nights it was that nice.
Hiya😀 Yeah, we tend to spend much longer on fewer campsites now as well. It was exciting moving every two or three days (and a lot easier on a motorbike), but it loses its appeal after a while😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
So looking forward to your next video! We are now in Sorrento. Finding Italian campsites a bit sparse and expensive so far. We are lucky enough to be not bothered too much but we would be interested to see if there are good cheaper campsites outside the tourist traps.
Thank you😃 We really hang around Northern Italy, so we don't really know about anything further South. We were just saying that at the bottom of Lake Garda here, we are paying the equivalent of £37.90 a night for a top end campsite (paying more in the UK now) and could be 27 Euros a night just along the road on ACSI. Up here it's a bit of a bargain compared to the UK. Cheers, Brian and Rhona😃
Thanks Sheila and Gavin😀. We hope that maybe there is something of use. We just got to thinking that things that are obvious to us now, weren’t so obvious 13 years ago😀. Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
Actually I think we've brought the Scottish weather over here😃. It's great now but most of last week was crazy high winds and rain (edge of Storm Boris I think)😃
Thank you Sandra😀 That’s very kind of you. We’ve been blasted with high winds for a few days, but hopefully it’s settling down now. Cheers Brian and Rhona😀
Thanks Ruth😀 The Lidl here in Italy does a BIG bottle of ready mixed spritz for 1.89 Euros! Bit of ice and orange and you’re good to go😀 4 spritz to a bottle. We’ve never seen that in the UK😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
Hi guys, great to see you out and about, do you miss the motorbike? I’ve been travelling around France and Spain on a motorbike and I’m just coming up to 60 but thinking about going to van life.🇬🇧🏴👍🏍🕺
Hi Richard😀 I think the most fun we had was on the motorbike with a tent😀. I think it’s because the less you have the more you do, but also because the actual road miles are just more fun. The next most fun was actually the gopod (we toured for about nine weeks at a time in it). The van is just a bit better for all season camping and winter long staying in Spain😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
@@RobbotheHighlander thanks for that Rob ,I’ll stick with the bike for now. from the age of 16 on the 50cc until now ,I can’t get it of my blood. I love it👍 if you’re ever in Plymouth, you’re more than welcome to stay over or catch up🇬🇧🏴👍cheers me dears 😁
We are new motor home owners this year planning our first Europe trip so these videos should be interesting. Looking forward to your planning bit as I'd love to know if you book your sites in advance or en-route.
Hi Roy😀 We went from booking nothing, to booking en-route (but knowing where we wanted to go), to booking everything in advance. Booking in advance was largely driven by the post Covid camping boom (we suspected the campsites would be much busier and they are). I also felt that when we were just drifting around we were spending far too much time figuring out where to go next, when we should have been enjoying ourselves😀 To us it seems easier now to do all the work at home😀 Also if you are time and money limited (as we are), we get a bit more bang for our buck with a bit of planning😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
Hello, I m enjoying your series but I just can't help thinking why don't you save yourselves a lot bother and just take a flight to Spain from Scotland?you de be there in a few hours and would save the money of the expensive sea crossing with your van and all the hassle of driving all those miles as well as the petrol expenses
Thanks Debbie😀. It’s taken a while to get the next video ready, but should be in the next day or two😀 Part of the fun (and challenge) is the travel and having your own moveable home really😀. With Spain in particular we are there for over two months and visiting at least three different places. There’s just something about doing it under your own steam that appeals somehow….and having something to stay in that we know inside out rather than a hotel or Airbnb I suppose😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀
Just managed to catch up with your video. Thank you so much for all the really useful information. Hope you are having a great time
Thanks Helen😃
We just caught the edge of Storm Boris so it was a bit rough at times, but okay now😃
Cheers, Brian and Rhona😃

Have a great trip. You inspired us to spend 2 months in Spain earlier year. We met loads of sagacious elders
Hiya😃
Yeah, they were a big influence on us. We could see that the older people didn't regret a minute of the travelling they had done😃.

I’ve just got back last week from a little tour around Belgium, Germany and Holland on the bike 😊

Liked your video and have gone back to view from episode 1. Greetings from Holm Dell, Inversneckie.
Thank you very much😃
We sort of accidentally ended up making videos, but hopefully they are decent enough😃
Cheers, Brian and Rhona😃
Have a great trip guys, looking forward to it 🌴👍🌴🍻
Hi Gary and Fiona😀
Thank you very much for that😀
Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀

Hi Cheryl and Simon😀

Cheers, Brian and Rhona😀

Very useful🙂 as ever. Looking forward to seeing you in Italy. Rhona it’s your fault I’ve started on the Aperol spritzers. Love your vlogs!
Thanks Ruth😀
