    It doesn’t feel like y’all are in community with queer men…? Anywaaay, I have absolutely heard queer men say “pause” contributes to biphobia and homophobia. Impact > intent. I know y’all know that. Please retire the phrase, guys. 💛

    This was a great show! I wonder if Josh does any online commentary? Would love to hear his thoughts on other topics. If he does a lot in the chat, I wouldn't know because I purposely don't read the chat because there are too many people in there screaming for attention and I can't deal.

    It's always a pleasure to learn about the material work MADPMO are doing to support incarcerated Africans. Our sister is a role model - living by example and principles.
    As always, fellas please check your egos at the door? I'm never sure if the endless tussle is a sensational feature of the show to keep viewers glued or whether they're in fact your personalities offline? Anyways, interesting conversations.

    “No homo” begot “pause.” Pause was created as an alternative means to say “no homo” as queer individuals began to call out homophobia b/c the word homo is literally used (this was early to mid 2010s). I think Jared understands what pause has evolved to. Pause now calls out any sexual reference to any gender. I think Josh has a is stuck on pause has a means of saying “no homo” when that’s not necessarily what it means now.

    Pause does offend me as a queer person. It’s been bothering me for a while so I’m glad others noticed it as well. I just don’t think gayness or who we are should be a punchline in that way, especially in that way. Half the time, I don’t even think about how gay something supposedly sounds until y’all say ‘pause.’ And then why is the possibility of a straight man who says something gay funny anyway? It just all perpetuates homophobia imo. It’s be different if we didn’t live in a homophobic wasn’t prevalent, but it is. Black queer boys and men are being discarded, isolated, abandoned, etc so until that is resolved, idk it just makes me uncomfortable. Like imagine a white man trying to ‘reclaim’ ‘nig**r’ by trying to spin it by saying ‘oh we used to talk like this back then but now I’m not racist anymore, so I’m making fun of my old racist self by saying n*gge r as a punch line. You’d look at him like he was crazy

    • @ambern9276
      @ambern9276 Месяц назад +4

      Exactly. It made me uncomfortable too even though I’m a queer woman. This is a phrase that can only be reclaimed or repurposed by queer people and queer men more specifically, considering its origin.

    • @EargasmEnt
      @EargasmEnt Месяц назад +1

      Same. Diallo basically said the explanations provided were not good enough for him so he is not going to alter how he speaks. That was unfortunate. Especially since he’s the same person that debated Jared down about letting non Black people say any form of the n word.

    I'm curious, why BLM, consistently ignores current presidential election, other than giving shallow critiques of "only" the Democratic Party? My criticism can also include regularly ignoring international geopolitics in Africa and the western hemisphere. I think they can do better, or at least I hope so.

      There's some of us who frequent some shows in this channel due to the different topics. Whats the point of having multiple shows then tackle the same topics? If we want a deep geopolitical conversation they have shows for that from Black Myths to guest like his esteem Dhuroba then there's breakthrough news, African stream, geopolitical etc.

    Y'all critique of ADOS, and FBA is very short sighted. Your suppositions that these organizations are anti immigrants is totally false, and your ideal of Pan Africanism is antiquated at this point because the Africans are coming here aren't looking for unification they're here for money.

    Only one thing to do; we need to add the 'P" and the "G' word to the no go zone. I wonder tho if the LGBTQ++ community takes as much deliberate concern during parades, school libraries/show, etc. if they may be offending someone.
