Zenless Zone Zero is the newest RPG from HoYoVerse and takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting in a futuristic metropolis known as “New Eridu”
In this game you’ll take on the role of a “Proxy” a character who helps others explore the hostile alternate dimensions known as the hollows so put a stop to an interdimensional threat known as “The Ethereal” which is wreaking Havok on humanity.
Zenless Zone Zero features a lightning fast combat system where players must build a 3 member team and switch between characters to deal devastating combo damage to enemies with timing playing a big factor in this system.
Before an enemy deals an attack a yellow flash will appear, switching characters at this exact time will initiate a “perfect switch” which will keep you cycling through each party member seamlessly whilst dealing big damage in the process.
Aside from that you’ve also got epically animated ultimate abilities, a perfect dodge as well as an E attack that’s charged up from your combos.
Aside from Epic combat and a unique fully voice acted post-apocalyptic story Zenless Zone Zero also has other cool features such as the ability to hangout with characters, go to the arcade, drink coffee, eat noodles, engage with unique mini game puzzles and of course collect multiple unique characters with their own distinct weapons, playstyle and personality.
In this video I’ll give you my first impressions playing the game for the first time with my pros and cons at the end.

-Zenless Zone Zero ZZZ Wiki Description-
Zenless Zone Zero (Chinese: 绝区零 Jué Qū Líng, "Perilous Zone Zero") is an upcoming free-to-play action RPG developed and published by HoYoverse. It will be released for Windows, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android on July 4th, 2024.
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic futuristic metropolis known as New Eridu. Most of humanity has been wiped out by supernatural disasters called Hollows, which appear out of thin air creating disordered dimensions where monsters known as the Ethereal roam.
New Eridu, the last surviving city, managed to survive the apocalypse by acquiring the technology to extract resources from the Hollows. Hollows then became industrialized and monetized under the city's administration, which gradually led to the increasing tension between monopolistic enterprises, gangs, conspirators, and fanatics.
Players in the game take on the role of a "Proxy" - a special professional who guides people in their exploration of Hollows. As they advance, the Proxy will recruit new members to their part as they continue to fight the Ethereal. By combining the abilities of different members, players can deploy greater damage and combos onto enemies.

@@RevPGSOpen beta is often referred to as official release in Chinese from what I have observed XD hence ‘open’ and since it’s a live service game that continually gets updates ‘beta’

And after many people being confused there were multiple people clarifying it for people who didn’t understand. It’s not that hard to also take one text and assume what it means based on what information is given to you already. Whether it’s used in CN or not that literally means official release 😑

For real, "i like how the screen shakes" is the worst take. Its the worst aspect of this game so far. It makes everything jarring, blurry, and look like shit. I hope you can turn that off.

I'm interesting in ZZZ mainly because I'm always on the look out for anything in this genre that isn't strictly fantasy. HoYo makes good games, too, so I'll be checking it out for sure, but Project Mugen is the open world gacha I'm really looking forward to right now.

It's the official release but they might be announcing it to be an open beta so that they can have more maintanance and free updates for their devs, remember when fortnite did the same thing? well... genshin did this too and this game is going to do the same.
If they act like the game is in "beta" any kind really, updates don't cost them resources and they can also deliver them faster, if that's the case then the game will be prepared for server related issues, any minor bugs and anything else.

@@TheStickman2014Tower of Fantasy is a game sorta like Genshin. Massive open world, back and forth missions with minimal rewards, switchable characters with different elemental weapons to defeat enemies, and is f2p, and it’s fun if you play it occasionally. There is a story for the first “arc” but then it seems to just disappear for awhile. The thing that really pushed me away from the game was the ANNOYING DISCONNECT of the server every 20 minutes.
It's nothing like these games.

@@Aegisu I'm playing WuWa and haven't seen any controversies, what's been going on? So far I love it. For me, ToF was better than Genshin, and then WuWa is better than ToF. It's subjective but that's what I think. I do wish WuWa mc had the costume selection that ToF had for their mc.

it looks quick but it still lacks combat style so much, it's more like genshin fastforward attack. wuwa has almost limitless style and combo, if you cant dodge, you can grapple up
You won't see anything crazy from people that never played the game before. ZZZ has pretty good combos too.

Looks good Wuthering Waves I have found to be pretty uninspired so I'll be dropping that soon I think. This should fill the gap nicely.

You know those two games have the highest revenue and probably players in the gacha genre?
Since i really enjoy Hoyo games and don't want anybody to miss out on them because of misconceptions i want to tell everybody who doesn't like gacha: if you don't have a gambling addiction or are an extremely impulsive collector, Hoyo games are supremely F2P friendly (i doubt it will be different with this one).
The progression is very generous and you always get more characters than you have materials to level and the difficulty is not high (and can even be lowered), so you don't need the most maxed out characters/gear to get anywhere in the game (even the endgame isn't designed to be a wallet-check and there's no pvp).
I've watched a lot of high spenders and they just 1-shot everything, not having to learn any game mechanics and missing out on exciting fights and the buildup of the epic music etc. They basically invest money into a game to not have to play it which is utterly bizarre.
It's really like as if summons in Souls Games were 500 dollars and everybody would just use them. Instead of not paying money to make the game trivial and enjoying the challenge (which still is pretty mild in Hoyo Games).
50/50 on 90 pity doesn't really seem F2P when the resources are so scarce. Plus side is you can download it for free and see if you like it so there's that I guess.
@@venandis7833 You won't be able to get every character, but you won't play every character either. It's like with Miniature Gamers that have thousands of dollars worth of unbuilt and unpainted minis... it's just a waste because they just consider what they want and not what they'll actually use. With some patience and planning, you will get every character yo're actually going to enjoy playing. These games will be around for years to come and you have all the time you need to get a character on their rerun... unless by then, you don't like them anymore and then it's a bullet dodged.
Characters are introduced months or years before they release as playable and people have the ability to test them (either in events or on the test servers) so you know if they're worth investing in. I myself only go for characters that i like the design of, like the playstile of and it fits a team i play. I've been playing Genshin and HSR F2P since release and i've only ever not managed to get 1 single character that i wanted (but i wouldn't wish for them anymore now, so it wasn't a big deal).
If you're a collector who needs to own every character asap, then i strongly advise not to play these games. But for me, managing my resources and only wishing on characters i truly want just makes me appreciate them more. And i have many teams in both games that are able to clear the hardest content and offer me more diversity in playstile then i know what to do with. I just didn't get them in the first month of playing.
It's usually the peer pressure that makes people impulsive, and hoyo probably knows that. The content itself doesn't really push people all that much, as you said. That said, there be people who say something like genshin is on predatory level, you don't argue with them, they simply just don't play enough online games.
@@bitterbon The most dangerous tendency is the mindset, that you're only really a fan of a certain character, if you put hundreds of dollars into maxing them out. As if you can't appreciate things without owning or possessing them.
There's also the fact that spending big money seems to impress the young viewerbase and attracts attention almost like nothing else... so the most prominent streamers do it and everybody imitates them without ever questioning if it's really necessary. Because those streamers also need to be relatable - while spending a couple hundred dollars a month on a game - they just automatically need to make people think that's just how these games are meant to be played and if you want to be part of that group, you gotta do it too.
And that's just the internet landscape we live in and you can't really blame Hoyo for opportunistic Influencers being poor rolemodels or people being irresponsible with their money... because if Hoyo does anything more than a gentle reminder to "be responsible with your money", people are going to go on a rampage that they dare tell them how to live their lives.
I really appreciate how Hoyoverse actually addresses the dangers of gambling and spending irresponsibly in their games. It goes way beyond just a mandatory warning to cover their butt and people take it in without their "big company trying to oppress my freedom" radar going off.

Nothing in this game looks interesting, memorable, unique or engaging.
Props to animators - they are the only one who have done a good job.
The hints of character dating and life sim elements in this game piqued my interest but something about the combat feels kind of childish to me. Idk how to describe. It feels mindless spammy dopamine inducing combat when I'm watching it but perhaps its a different story in practice.
