I was a senior in high school when this happened, now I am a 28 year old woman. This tragedy was mentioned in my graduation ceremony. It is great to know this beautiful young lady is doing well, our hearts are still with the victims.

(Siblings) They weren't hurt thank God but this really happened. I know it's hard to accept such evil in the world, but this whole thing actually happened. Lives were really lost. I can't stress enough how much it hurts me and so many others that people deny that this tragedy happened.

It's fake! A bunch of middle aged parents with 6 yr olds?! Sounds like bee-Es! How many 36 year Olds and 40+ yr olds do you know dropping kids off at your child's school?? Survivor guilt is so hard, especially at a young age. Childhoods, stolen, or stopped completely...how can anyone think that is acceptable? They are innocent. Kudos to those brave teaching staff who stood up for their classes, lives on the line. That's agape love.

Bulletproof glass, fully secure doors, effective alert systems and protocols, police who are protected, effective, move quickly and armed. Necessary equipment for children and teachers to be protected (e.g. bullet proof vests, scenario rehearsals, safe drop holes). Some ideas that might help prevent at least some loss of innocent lives in these scenarios. What about you? What are your ideas?

The common sense a gun laws that were put into place after Sandy Hook have now made, “gun free zones” the most dangerous places in America. If we look at the hard statistical data we will find that the majority of mass shootings that have occurred most recently have happened in gun free zones which includes schools, movie theaters, grocery stores and other venues in which the gun free zone logo is posted. We have made things worse, not better.
Mass shootings also occur in other countries which go unreported. A few days ago there was a mass shooting in Rome, Italy.
We have to begin looking at the gun laws that we have an acted since Sandy Hook and have made America a more dangerous place.
Not to mention some of the most dangerous city's in America have super strict gun laws

I was in 9th grade when this happen. Such a tragedy
I was 12 and in the 7th grade when this happened. It was the last day before winter break and we had family up to visit. I came home from school not knowing anything about it. I was showing my uncle a toy cap gun I got just days before and he told me “you shouldn’t be playing with that right now. Didn’t you hear what happened? A guy shot a bunch of six year olds.” I remember watching it on the news that night and being so heart broken knowing that these kids probably had presents under the tree that they wouldn’t ever open. I would 100% say this was the defining tragedy of my generation.

I am in this comment section because I am constantly bombarded with ads lobbying for me to sign a petition concerning this incident for gun control. I too am a mom who lost a baby due to mental health issues of a perpetrator who happened to be stupid with a gun. Please stop asking me for a signature that will not prevent these loses. I personally do not want a gun due to my ex causing the swat team to come out because of him and his gun. I learned later that before I had met him he had had several incidents exhibiting mental health issues severe enough for him to be on a mental health hold. Everyone smart enough to have mental health issues can figure out how to build a homade gun. There is no way to get rid of guns in this country. We will only end up hurting those who actually are responsible and could be a line of defense in an emergency. What we need to do is screen for these individuals and help them before they become a danger to themselves and others. Trust me in 98 percent of cases there are very obvious warning signs before it is too late.
I am mostly conservative except for the issue of gun laws.

Better mental health screening and treatment before these people become dangerous to begin with would be a great start don't you think.

@@Nate-vh7et no that is not what I meant. What is nessisary is to provide mental health care and screenings for everyone upon request and anyone who is showing signs of either not coping well or of having any other mental health issues without judgement or stigma.

Sometimes it is an unrelated to home trauma like people at school doing something to the kid like the other students or occasionally staff, and sometimes it is a recessive genetic problem that both parents carry but neither has, and some times its is bad brain chemistry and some times its something like head trauma from either like a car accident or sports injury. There are MANY reasons for mental health issues in young people and while parents can be the problem attacking parents like our society does is rarely a viable solution because instead of helping the family become more healthy and a good place for the kid people will try to mask anything they feel the outside world would call an issue and little issues fester and become big ones to the detriment of everyone around them. So stop just parent shaming without being part of the solution. Because statistically a bad parent STILL on average will achieve a better outcome than foster care or adoption. So if you want better be an encouragement to those struggling in a positive way without enabling what nobody wants and without condemnation.

Most of the interviews with surrounding kids after the fact clearly show the kid of discussion had mental problems, fantasized about death/harm. I don’t understand what your solution is? Tell kids “hey report anything suspicious!” Will do nothing but cause petty fights. I’ve been to school lol, there’s no chance in hell that would make any difference. It’s the parents that need screenings and to raise their kid without fantasizing about death.

I feel so badly for her and her classmates to have experienced that and I can’t even imagine. But what we all need to realize, is we ALREADY HAVE the gun control laws and screenings that everyone wants to push for. The more gun bans we enforce, then the more criminals have guns while the good guys can’t access the guns to protect you. CRIMINALS DO NOT CARE ABOUT LAWS. You can put all the gun control laws in place that you want, but that will only make things worse. Shooters actively seek out places that have visible “no guns” signs and policies so that way they can do as much damage without being stopped immediately by the good guy with the gun. Gun control does not work. Get armed security guards in schools, or train and arm teachers.
i remember being in 3rd grade when this happened. i came back the next year for 4th grade and every door at the school was locked from the inside from that day forward. and that never changed up to the day i graduated. and throughout my schooling theres been so many school shootings and its crazy to see how much it ahs impacted our schools. It started with the locking every door, and then the ID's, and led tot he ID's actually opening doors via scan. all because of school shootings.

I was in 5th grade when this tragedy took place. It's so heartbreaking that 20 innocent children were taken away far too soon, and that all those who survived the tragic shooting were permanently robbed of their childhoods and their innocence. I hope that the survivors get the help they need and heal from the trauma they suffered as children. 💙🫂
Gun legislation such as background checks? The students mother owned the guns and they were all legally registered. It’s not like a background check would have prevented her from getting the guns, she didn’t even have a misdemeanor. Not only that but, she was a responsible women. She had every right to be a gun owner. The guns were stolen by her kid. Not only that but if you completely take away the ability for people like her to be gun owners legally, there’s still going to be guns owned illegally. Especially by criminals such as the one in a Chicago. All you’d be doing is taking away the ability for respectable homeowners to defend themselves against these criminals. The problem doesn’t lie with the guns it lies with the people. And we the people all agreed that we’d be able to own guns to resist government tyranny. It gives us hope. But with that many guns going around you’ll have tragedies like this. Rest In Peace to everyone at sandy hook and every other school shooting/mass shooting/robbery/gang violence/home invasions, but that’s what we voted for when we made the constitution.

I'm glad that Amber Christina lost her teaching job at the GoCity School, as well as Principal Cherry, who is now also being disowned by his family including Alan and Warren Cook, who also now disown him!

Any dealer that sells a gun at a gun show has to submit the background check. That so called "loop hole" does not exist. In some states person to person sales do not require a background check. Is that what you are referring too? Have you ever bought a firearm at a gun show?
