    Can you setup alarm schedules (like different alarm times based on the day of the week)? This isn't addressed anywhere in any reviews so I assume not which seems like a pretty big swing and miss for something that's primary function is to wake you up!

    • @haleyjohnson2055
      @haleyjohnson2055 5 лет назад +2

      Yes you can! In the alarms panel you can set an alarm for each day to recur on a weekly basis. You can also set routines to accompany each alarm if your clock is connected to other Google home devices.

    What is setting an alarm like on the clock screen? Can I set it to wake me up to spotify or can that only be done with voice commands? Can I set different recurring alarms for different days of the week?

    • @haleyjohnson2055
      @haleyjohnson2055 5 лет назад

      You can set alarms with voice command or via touch. You can set a different alarm for every day of the week, and either set them to recur or review alarm suggestions each night. While you cannot set it to wake you up to Spotify, you can create "routines" with the Lenovo Smart Clock and other Google Home devices, which allow you to adjust lighting, play music, etc. automatically when you turn off the alarm!

    Aside from nest cameras, can you stream any other smart camera from other manufacturers?

  • @ChuitoNitemare26
    @ChuitoNitemare26 5 лет назад +2

    They are going to have to lower the price of the smart clock to $60 or a bit lower. The nest hub will not be able to be more than $100 but better at $80. And the home mini should get dropped to about $40. With the echo show 5 coming out. It makes the smart clock and the nest hub look over priced for the features provided.

      It gets dark enough for me, at least.

    • @Mynabird1
      @Mynabird1 5 лет назад +1

      The Lenovo Smart Clock has an ambient light sensor. Its backlight will vary from 0.3 nits to 300+ nits depending on the ambient light. In other words, it should not disturb you at night. If it's not dark enough, you can go to Setting > Display > and then select darker on the display light setting!

    • @Mynabird1

      At launch, it can only show live feeds from compatible Nest cameras. This will be extended to all cameras that has the "works with the Google Assistant" certification in the next few weeks.

    How does the audio compare to a home mini? Can you cast audio to this like a mini (eg Pocketcasts)

    • @Mynabird1
      @Mynabird1 5 лет назад

      You can cast shows, music, and videos to Chromecast-enabled devices, such as your TV or speakers, in and around your home using only your voice. You should be able to cast content and continue watching as you move from room to room.

  • @Gussy_gussy
    @Gussy_gussy 5 лет назад +1

    Great video but next time you review an Alexa or Google home device please don't forget to edit the voice command out, it's a small thing but goes a long way into making the viewing experience a lot better if we don't have to worry about our home devices getting triggered when we don't want them to

  • @ManolChalakov
    @ManolChalakov 5 лет назад +3

    Why would you want to watch RUclips videos on your alarm clock which has a tiny 480p screen and it has a powered cable on the back?
    By comparing this to the Echo Show you are essentially comparing Google Assistant and Alexa. It's not about the price it's about the ecosystem.
    It's like giving an Apple TV to a someone who owns only Android devices.

    • @Moderndad
      @Moderndad  5 лет назад +2

      Exactly. It's also about the price. And a lot of folks care about the latter more than the former.

      muzzy996 you can add it to a speaker group. I got one today and have it connected to my speaker groups. Also you can Bluetooth to it and cast to it as long as it’s not a video.

    Hey Phil, I was wondering, is there any option to turn a tablet into one of this devices by installing some apps? Because some 30$ old tablets can do most of the same than this devices.
    Anyways, nice video, liked as always.

    • @Moderndad
      @Moderndad  5 лет назад +2

      You can kinda hack your way to that, but definitely not as seamless a thing.

    • @NopWorks
      @NopWorks 5 лет назад +1

      He's probably not going to reply so I'll answer that for you.
      You can't do that, unfortunately. The closest thing you can get is turn on "Ok Google" while the screen is locked, Disable screen/sleep time out, plug it in and prop it up, Find a slideshow live wallpaper if you want and turn on Ambient Light Adjustment.
      They want to sell these things. These smart speakers/displays also have "Far-field Microphone" - a specialized type of microphone designed to hear speech from far away. Your tablet might not hear your speech as good as smart speakers; and Ambient Light Adjustment sensor on your tablet would not match Google Nest Home Hub's light adjustment tech (which unfortunately not available on this smart clock either, but this smart clock's tech would still work better than tablet's since it's optimized to work in home rather than outside.)

    • @orestes1984

      The thing with this is that it runs a specific version of Android called Android Things for smart home devices. You can kinda-sorta add a few apps here and there but it won't achieve the same result as you're not running the same OS. This Smart Clock really behaves just like an alarm clock except you can say "Hey Google" and access the entire Google Nest Hub smart-home environment by voice.
      It's primary purpose is to imitate an alarm clock nearly exactly while adding the modern things you would expect if the alarm clock was invented today. Sorta like an alarm clock for The Jetsons.

    So does it have a dumb clock mode or back up battery for the occasional black out? Does it reboot to all the last settings after a power off event or stay off and dead until re-started?

      The Lenovo Smart Clock will retain its last known setting if it loses power.

    I see that there is no Battery with this unit, so I don't think it would be any good as an alarm clock i.e., if there were a power cut then obviously there would be no power going to the unit, so at alarm time "silence" as the unit wouldn't be powered.

    Is it possible to make Spotify music alarms on this device? If so, how?

    • @Mynabird1
      @Mynabird1 5 лет назад

      You can't assign it to play a specific song on Spotify, but you can ask the Lenovo Smart Clock to wake you up to a Spotify playlist that you have set up. Do ensure that you have your Spotify account set up first.

I have just stopped watching one other RUclipsr when they review Google devices because their voice is too similar and ALWAYS triggers mine.
