Hey! I just got done with the livestream I mentioned in the video. It went for over 12 hours (oops!) Tomorrow I'm going to read all of your comments though don't worry. Thanks for all of the support on the video while I was in a hunt showdown coma.
Even if it’s not full holster and draw times, I’d love a video on guns it’s worth doing animation cancels for. Some guns fire faster if you tap Q twice quickly, or like with two uppercuts, fire faster if you swap between two, I’m curious how many guns benefit from animation cancels and swapping.
@@DanteTrickster It still works to this day, the original 'quick swap' was changed years ago, but there are still some guns that are simply faster to swap than they are to reload, with uppercut being the most popular of those. Uppercut also shoots faster if you tap q rapidly.
I dont play hunt often but have always used the "frog hop" method when crossing water and I never knew there was a question to if it actually worked or not. Great to know it actually does!
The biggest difference with frog hopping is not triggering water devils. They move so fast that the little bit of extra time is literally a life saver.
I do want to confirm as a "frog hop" enthusiast that has been using it for around a year, that whilst gator legs can be outshined by frog hop in small creeks or deep puddles in the way of a rotation, it most certaintly is absolutely necessary if you for some reason "need/want" to cross long stretches of water or just fighting in water in general.
I've definitely been killed by explosives through walls and been tagged by frags causing bleed. In a lot of cases, I think there was some sort of gap in the wall that sort of let the radius of the explosion "leak" out. Like, in the Fort Bolden boss lair. I was upstairs near the window that faces out toward the toilet entrance. Someone threw a small dynamite bundle from the wall onto the dirt in front of the wooden door and that killed me. I'm guessing the explosion found its way through the window.
Yes, that is my thought as well. But I also have been killed by a frag bomb through a solid brick wall. Maybe this wall was stacked when build and there is a invisible gap?
4FSGaming, man I miss him. Really enjoyed his videos and then he just stop uploading. Never found out why. All the happier to see someone else pick up the torch and carry it high!
I think a deeper dive into the ROF increase of fanning would be interesting. Currently, fanning will increase your fire rate if you return to hipfire after each ADS'ed shot, then ads once the hipfire fanning animation is complete. Would be curious if the rof increase is comparable perks like iron sharpshooter, but just for revolvers.
It's interesting with your findings on explosives. I typically feel safer hiding behind wood if I know it's a frag, because I find them a lot less likely to hit me through it. On the flipside, dynamite, and particularly the BDB, seems to blast people through walls a lot more often. I thought it was an intended feature, to have the BDB with it's smaller effect radius to the frag, but give it through-wall blasting power to compensate. If I find any interesting examples of that effect in my clips, I'll pass them your way.
I have definitely been killed by frags and dynamites through walls before, but it seems insanely inconsistent. It’s also hard to tell how much of it is desync from me being around a corner on my screen, and the server not registering me as actually around the corner yet.
Awesome video as usual Cornf and great shoutout to 4FS for his pioneering, loved his vids when I was learning to get better at Hunt and extremely happy his torch hasn't been dropped in the community. I need that weapon swap time video so bad I probably can't restrain myself from testing it ahead of time XD
Ahh that last one reminds me of release DeSalle. Not a single wall (and especially ceilings) had any kind of properties attached to it that would stop ANY explosion from going through it. They have to manually apply this effect it seems and in some spaces, like that underground barrel dealing damage, it probably is so obscure that they never even thought of it.
I'd love a video on holster + draw times. I knew there was an advantage to the conversion over pax somewhere... Never even considered this with hunt, as well as a few other things you have researched and covered here. Awesome stuff!
Absolutely love these videos! Hunt has been my main game for quite awhile now, and at around 800hrs I'm still learning new things all the time! Videos like this are incredibly helpful. Keep up the good work!
I actually learned the froghop when playing with friends myself! Pretty useful trick when making it across the smaller rivers in the game (like the edge of the map near ironworks when the extract is in a boat by the lighthouse)
Kept telling my friends to froghop, I guess the reason some didn't believe me is because the hop in the water can fail often, and can also be impossible depending on the depth of the water. Thanks for confirming! Also, explosives feel really inconsistent. I swear that I've been killed through floors and even brick walls by frags and larger dynamite.
for the explosives going through walls, there's an excellent example in HomeReel's video about being in a rut. at Healing Waters, an explosive goes off underneath the brick stairs that lead from the inside of the church building to the underground crank door.
How did you find out 4FS retired? I had no idea. I know he hasn’t posted in years but still. So glad your taking on the myth busters it needed a comeback!
In all my time i didn't know I could bounce a nade off a wall and it would work in water. This is the first video I've seen from you but I'm super excited too see more!
I really love the editing and pacing of your videos! this is exactly the kind of hunt content we have been missing! keep it uip man been subbed since the first vid i saw !
Myth 4 comes from older avto where you could weapon swap and fire 1 bullet and people would think you have a regular mosin, until you full sprayed later on. They patched it out and we were left with this avto
As someone whos been playing this game since the beginning, it blew my mind to see the 4FS clip saying there's no jump benefit. B-hopping use to be crazy busted. EDIT: also, thank you for being willing to disclose things to the newlings like how to doubletap dual pistols and single tap the avto. You just earned another sub.
I swear to god ive been doing the hop frog thing for like a year. I told my friends about it and noone belived me... Im happy to see someone finally debunking this one!
As always, amazing video Cornf! Super happy someone has the knowledge and dedication to research and inform players of all kinds of things, from mythbusting to proper guides and analysis.
I would love a video about swapping time! About explosives: I definitely have killed people through walls with a dynamite and have been killed in the same way. Maybe even an explosive barrel, I don't know if explosive barrels are supposed to go through walls tho. Amazing video as always! Thank you for providing knowledge for the masses! Also I was wondering what happened to your CORNFU intro. I thought it was cute!
I would love a draw/holster time video. This is not something I have considered before. Also the dynamite bounce technique is definitely something I did not know about.
I would absolutely love a video for holster and draw times, imo they are two of the most important stats in low ttk games and it really blows trying to navigate hunts menu and "statistics" as a new player
I don't have footage but i remember vividly, how I threw a big dynamite bundle in nicholls prison near the white houses and it killed the guy outside and one INSIDE the wooden house (suprise kill because i didn't know he was there at all).
Although I love the myths you've busted and learned a thing or two even after over 1500 hours... I'm more amazed by the consecutive headshots you get in the shooting range!
Thank you for your videos. Strangely enough, you’ve done a lot to encourage me not to give up on this game. Thank you for all your work, and great video as always.
One that I think HAS to be tested is the long standing argument over if ping abuse is a thing. Some say it is, others say it's a myth. Does a higher ping (to a certain limit) give you an advantage because the game is giving you a larger window on kills/shots/etc... to compensate for your higher ping. We've all had those insane trades where you kill someone, run for half a second around a corner and then die and then check their STEAM profile later and find they were playing from halfway around the world. Sure, a ping of 500ms is going to be basically unplayable but what is the range where it becomes a detriment to you? Is playing with a ping of 150ms giving you an advantage over playing with 30 ms against the same players? Generally you'd think that a lower ping is always better but if they game is doing some weird shenanigans to try to compensate for higher pings on some players, then is that giving those players an unfair advantage over someone with a lower ping. We also have this circumstantial idea that when we see the Yellow/Red server icons generally we expect there to be high ping players in the game. We've had multiple games where we'd get server issues, lag spikes, delayed kills/trades on people but once that team was wiped and gone from the server, all the issues went away. Do high ping players being present on a server introduce these problems or is that just us jumping to conclusions? This one would probably be a pain to test and would require getting community members from all around the world together for testing or by using VPN's to increase your latency but I think it is something that can be tested. Wish Crytek would add to the "Team Details" screen at the end of the game what the players average PING was. A lot of other multiplayer games let you see opponents PINGs.
We know ping abuse is a thing because Hunt uses client side confirmation for shots. If your client tells the server 'My shot hit', the server says 'Okay' and confirms it, instead of verifying it itself. If you're already dead on the other guys screen but that information hasn't been received on your end due to high ping, you have a larger window to retaliate and confirm a kill, resulting in a trade. It's the real world trade off Crytek decided to use, with the alternative being having the game server confirm all your shots, which would lead to it's own set of problems since you'd have to work around your ping to the server and adjust your shot depending on how good your connection was.
Hey Cornf, thanks for the video. Very very helpful hints. Just wanted to point something out in a friendly way. When you say the Nagant "Officer versus the Nagant Officer Carbine @ 4:45" while comparing the swap speed , you're actually not using the Officer pistol but instead a silenced nagant m1895 which is a different variant and weapon (nagant is a single action revolver, which works with Fanning, and officer is a double action revolver, which does not work with fanning for that reason). However I get what you meant, thanks!
Yep, slight mistake in my script, but it also goes to show that even though the nagant officer and the nagant pistol are different variants, they still behave very similarly. Good catch!
I'm a firm believer in using a boss' darksight dot effect to tell if there are any hunters within ~50 meters, but can't seem to convince my friends there's a method to my madness. Basically, get all three clues, darksight, and see if the boss darksight effect is static or moving. If static, there are no hunters within the range that would trigger the boss icon to turn red.
It's sort of like that. The boss doesn't move until someone gets close enough to it that the server wakes it up. Using dark sight when you've got 3 clues already can tell you if someone has come close enough to the boss to wake it up, but it won't tell you if they've come and gone, to the best of my knowledge. Once the boss has 'woken up' it moves around the lair, even if nobody's home.
Amazing video cornf! I would certainly like to know if Greyhound affects your travel speed compared to running and pausing when the lung icon appears and then running again :)
the amount of times i've been killed or injured by a sticky grenade i've put on the target, then gone upstairs and been hurt whilst they are downstairs is infuriating
but frag bombs do go through walls right? thats how its always been for me when i throw or get it thrown at me, iv been killed by dynamite through walls before too thought, mostly the bigger variants and only a few times but i dont normally record my hunt.
as i already mentioned in another video i love this kind of educational video content, and i still think there is a bit of gap in the hunt content creator scene for this, keep up the good work! 😃👍
Test if the primal pact trait instinct conveys the distance of enemy hunters via the intensity of the orange flickering or whispers. I'd like to see a video on weapon swapping. Good video, hunt has been missing myth busters for some time.
I feel like as an experienced player I have a pretty good feel for swap times already. Not that I can state specific numbers but all your examples that you stated I already new just by using the weapon enough. But maybe there are a few crazy outliers and maybe if some really underused weapons have crazy good speeds then it still might be worth making a video.
Got killed by my buddy's sticky bomb through the floor at Cyprus Huts earlier. I was on 50 hp for reference. Didn't think to clip it since it was several hours ago now
Hey @Cornf, was talking to my friends and came up with a good question to ask for a mythbusters video or otherwise. Before we got the sway stat on guns I remember people would say the Winfield with less ammo has better sway than the more ammo one because of the old handling stats and such, and I still hear it mentioned around with things like extended mag variants etc, curious if there’s actual sway differences there or if the new sway stats are standardized across all guns of that sway value! Community doesn’t seem like they’re in consensus on that, recently heard people saying Uppermat has really good sway for instance despite on the surface it having the same value as other pistols in the arsenal.
Hey! I just got done with the livestream I mentioned in the video. It went for over 12 hours (oops!) Tomorrow I'm going to read all of your comments though don't worry. Thanks for all of the support on the video while I was in a hunt showdown coma.
Did you get a kill with every weapon?
@@blakegreen82 Yes!
Was there, can confirm. Was glorious.
Been doing the froghop for ages, it definitely makes a big difference
Ain't nothing like jumping through a river with 5 water devils and coming out unscathed 😁
Always frog hop, everywhere.
Same
Didnt cnow its called like that
Thought almost everyone who knew jumping was faster did a double jump
Even if it’s not full holster and draw times, I’d love a video on guns it’s worth doing animation cancels for. Some guns fire faster if you tap Q twice quickly, or like with two uppercuts, fire faster if you swap between two, I’m curious how many guns benefit from animation cancels and swapping.
Good suggestion!
That was fixed ages ago
@@DanteTrickster It still works to this day, the original 'quick swap' was changed years ago, but there are still some guns that are simply faster to swap than they are to reload, with uppercut being the most popular of those. Uppercut also shoots faster if you tap q rapidly.
I loved 4FS as well, and I can confidently say that if anyone is to take up the mantle of resident Hunt Mythbuster, it's you lad.

If its stick bombs, they dmg through walls. And windows are destructable so explosions ignore them typicly
Frags are ment to do bleeding thru walls but they sometimes do damage that's wrong in my opinion
I was killer thru floor of main building in seven sisters by frags 3 times
I've been killed by dynamite through (wood) walls. I always quit after those games
Yes, that is my thought as well. But I also have been killed by a frag bomb through a solid brick wall. Maybe this wall was stacked when build and there is a invisible gap?
9:30 omg that keyboard bashing in an intense Hunt moment is SO RAW :D

The dualie double shot is ridiculously strong, practice it as much as possible because they outperform 2 slot shotguns in most situations

One that I think HAS to be tested is the long standing argument over if ping abuse is a thing. Some say it is, others say it's a myth.
Does a higher ping (to a certain limit) give you an advantage because the game is giving you a larger window on kills/shots/etc... to compensate for your higher ping.

Glad you appreciate them!
I feel like as an experienced player I have a pretty good feel for swap times already. Not that I can state specific numbers but all your examples that you stated I already new just by using the weapon enough. But maybe there are a few crazy outliers and maybe if some really underused weapons have crazy good speeds then it still might be worth making a video.
your intro gives big "loading screen tips" energy
Pls continue this series I just subscribed
Love the Rendi easter egg for spheralbrah
If I had more time to edit his voice you better believe I was going to make it sound like *CHESTBRAH*
Best intro ever. Pls don’t change it
I would love a full sized video on draw and holster times in Hunt Showdown.
