- The entire journey as viewed through The Gornergrat Bahn's front window as it departs Zermatt, Switzerland on its 30-minute climb up to The Gornergrat Station. Located at a elevation of 3,089 m (10,132 ft) above sea level in the Swiss Alps for an unobstructed view of The Matterhorn and its surrounding peaks.
Let's give a round of applause to the surveyors, geologists, engineers, architects, the laborers who constructed this incredible feat of engineering in the Swiss Alps, beautiful!
Thanks for taking me along!
Really? You want people to applaud?😂

Yes, on the count of three, ready?.........one-----two---THREE👏👏
Yes, it surely was a feat 👍👏👏👏
Ta proga spada med največje svetovne znamenitosti, genialno delo človeških rok, mojstrovina
And people who maintain it. No snow on the track what so ever.
I feel privileged to have done this journey a few years ago. It was unforgettable .
yes,same to me!

No words can describe how beautiful that journey was. I'll never be able to visit but your video is certainly the next best thing. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to view.
Check " Glacier Express " and " Bernina Express”. Far out
Spectacular! Thank you. I'm still recovering from the view of the Matterhorn and the startlingly beautiful reveal of the town and valley at 3:42. What a stunning trip.
Many thanks!
One of the most beautiful railway lines I have seen! Great ride.
My son and I made this trip in Sep 2013. We were able to hike down about half-way and pick up a returning train at one of the lower stations.
Absolutely amazing. Thank you for taking us along. Well done 👍
Fantastic engineering and such a lovely journey! Lovely skiing in these parts and great memories.
Bringing back such extraordinarily happy memories of times passed . Thank you.
Such beautiful scenery ...wish I was on that train. Thanks for posting this video I enjoyed every minute of this train ride.
Thank you for the wonderful video.
I was impressed by the majestic scenery of Switzerland.
What a fabulous train ride, breath taking scenery. Thank you for sharing this video.
I rode the Gornergrat Bahn in 1991 on a visit to Zermatt. Thank you for sharing and providing a nice memory. I was there in summer and less snow. I was backpacking around Switzerland and wanted to honor my Friend Kevin who Tragically lost his life on a North wall Matterhorn Assent in '88. I spent several days in Zermatt. Beautiful to say the least. Breathtaking squared.
It’s beautiful place.thanks for your video. I never seen such a place in my life.
The huge metal structure that protects the wonderful train route at the edge of the mountains is impressive, as is the entire route!
Thanks for posting this. One more thing off my bucket list of things to do vicariously!
I just stumble upon this video. As others have stated, this was incredible to watch. I may never be able to get there myself, but this definitely was the next best thing!!! Thank you!
You're most welcome.
What a wonderful day for your journey. On my trip, in 1991, Zermatt was wet and foggy. It wasn't until we got above the cloudline that Matterhorn was visible in the sunlight. It was breathtaking. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Likewise for my first visit in 1994. Weather is certainly the one factor none of us can ever plan for. Evening before was cloudy and the morning of this ride I awoke to clear Blue skies. The view of the Matterhorn from the top was everything one could ever wish for. Thanks for viewing.
Can absolutely relate. Simply fortunate timing.
Just came home after a trip up there ... truly amazing, mesmerising and a lifetime experience ...
Greetings from Singapore ❤
That it was indeed. So was the view recently on my first visit to Singapore, especially at night from the viewing area top of the Marina Sands. Thanks for the comment and viewing.
SO COOL TOO SEE OTHER COUNTRIES FROM A TRAIN.
THANKS 4 SHARING FROM KENTUCKY U.S.A
Beautiful!💙
Thank you!
Stunning, magnificent, free views of the Matterhorn, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for viewing.
Stunning views
BREATHTAKING views!👍👍👍👏
Have done that , on just such a sunny day cloudless sky, the Mattahorn sat in all its regal glory, stunning, a bucket list trip for me
Many happy memories of many ski holidays in Wonderful Zermatt oh to be there now with all this snow .
Sehr zu empfehlen
Thank you that was very enjoyable! A great feat of engineering to construct such a difficult rail line.
Very nice! I did this ride in the winter of 2015 and made a side view video about this ride. I started recording at departure and couldn't stop. So beautiful. The surrounding is stunning. Thanks for this video. Greeting from the (flat...😊) Netherlands, Joachim
It was your video(s) during my trip planning that inspired me to stop in Zermatt and add this train to my itinerary. I also passed through your country of the Netherlands via train and spent a day walking in the rain around Amsterdam. Thank you for the valuable insights before I arrived in Switzerland.
Thanks for that incredible uphill ride. I´m more exhausted than their traction motors. My ears are clogged !!
By the way at low speed it sounds like an EMD GP9 or F7 diesel locomotive.
I must relax and take my breath. What a climb !
Did this trip in September 2011 and rode the Glacier Express from Chur to Brigg. Fabulous scenery, would definitely recommend.
Magnifico! Obrigado. ...de Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brasil.
I impressed with how clean village is. Nice.
Well Done! Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks for sharing! What a lovely cruise through there, especially with snow around. I think this is best short train journey in the world. I am visiting in a week, can’t wait.🚞
Enjoy your journey and the visual experience it offers.
@@planestrainsautomobiles Thank-you very much!
What a beautiful informative video, Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very beautiful video!
Wonderful 👍
I missed the time when I was on this train so much. Hope I could be in Switzerland once again.
Wow! Very impressive!
Absolutely stunning!!!!
It really is!
We spent 10 days in and near Zermatt as part of a European trip some years ago. It was early autumn, and raining lightly when we alighted from the Glacier Express to be met by a horse-drawn carriage to take us to a very, very comfortable hotel on the town square. Then the rest of the time, we stayed in a cottage a few minutes walk from one of the Bahn's stations - Riffelberg from memory, certainly well towards the top. We certainly needed a fire each night to keep warm. We'd travel down to the town each day for various expeditions, sometimes staying there for an early dinner (the last train back was around 19.30 or so), sometimes buying some food to cook ourselves. Very different to our suburban life here and a great experience.
Just to add - we were travelling independently and not part of an organised tour.
Fantastic thanks. Chris from England
wow great video
Qué mágico, gracias!
Spectacular!
An enchanting journey. Take Me along next time.
What a View Great Journey
Wow this was amazing, I live in south Africa, didn't need to pay airline tickets to go to Switzerland nor pay for accomodations and the train ride etc, I was in Switzerland without flying over to Switzerland hahahaha and had a free trip on a mountain train and saw spectacular views wow this is life, thanks for the person who made this video, I was in Switzerland without moving my feet and body, 🤣
Espectacular 👍👍👍👍👍
At 8:50 when it came out of the tunnel and you see the Disneyland Matterhorn 😂 that was awesome. Very beautiful scenery. 👍
Glad the view reminded you of the ride in Anaheim, CA. Appreciate the comment.

👍😎🇦🇹
I’ll be taking this trip in June 2024, after I do the Glacier Express from St Moritz. Looking forward to it and thanks for posting this video
You're most welcome, Richard. I hope this provided a little insight to what is in store for you. I arrived in Zermatt on the same Glacier Express from St. Moritz the day before. Worth every hour I spent on that train, too. Enjoy your upcoming journey.
superbe promenade !!! merci ( 1-8-2023 )
Belle immagini grazie
Whoa!!! This was the maost amazing ride. It's another world up there. I want to go...
You should!

Thank you for viewing and the thoughtful comments. It's greatly appreciated.
Beautiful countryside in winter.
Looks like a lovely trip but I haven't got much of a head for heights! Thanks for the video though.
Super video collection bro
Wow... !!! My best friend, It's always great. We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks
Thanks for the visit
Simply a railway track through heaven.
Beside the cogwheel, an interesting point for electrical engineers is that this line is one of two three-phase powered lines in Switzerland (the other one being the Jungfraujoch). Look at the double overhead wire system, and the complexity of contactless crossings above the switches
I just wonder why they bothered have 2 electrical lines going up next to each other. Surely you wouldn't need any power if you are going downhill?
Very nice.
Thank you.
very nice!
This entire journey was so trimendous l have thurly enjoyed every minute of it, also the views are really good, but just to let you know that in another video l have flown up to the top & round the Matterhorn by helicopter 🚁 & that was great, so thanks to everyone who made this nice video, very, very enjoyable .
Very nice , like to go there someday.
Beautiful country
We have made this trip. It is a great experience. D.E. and Helen Hill
I wish I could ride that train, wow
Boa tarde Pernambuco Brasil.
Curitiba PR
Magnífico este vídeo
MUITO BONITO ESTA VIAGEM E QUE BOM DE FICAR CONHECENDO O MUNDO UM POUCO POR VIDEO.
Wow. From Wiki:
"The line is 9,339 m (30,640 ft) in length, including 3,790 m (12,434 ft) of double track, and traverses an altitude difference of 1,469 m (4,820 ft). It is built to metre gauge (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) and uses the Abt rack system throughout. It is one of four lines in the world using three-phase electric power, requiring two overhead conductors, with the track forming the third conductor."
Fascinating.
Magnífico maravilhoso que lugar mais lindo
Super merci !
I would love to do that. Wonder how they keep the line clear so high in the mountains .The only mountain railway I've done is Snowdon, it was tiny compared to that
Nice vid! What's the maximum grade on that line?
Excelente🎥👏👍💯👋de Argentina
the matterhorn ride at disneyland was one of the only rides i ever liked there. probably the only one. it was my favorite. i have good taste apparently . i later found out it was a real mountain! i cant stand all the movie based rides...except i love the log ride and indiana jones. and tom sawyers island...but they are all very old rides..oh and i love pirates...
and the jungle cruise was good... and i like new orleans square...
no comment just perfect
How many back forth passengers can the ride handle one way. ? Thanks
?
tusen takk skal.
Abt train.
The scenery is also very beautiful.
I would actually like to ride it.
It feels great.
