I'm the international sales manager at Rhaetian Railway - one of the two railway companies who run the Glacier Express together. Being responsible for Asia-Pacific, I am more than happy to travel back to Asia again this Monday to promote our beautiful railway lines. Switzerland is much less fun without all our international guests. I am very excited to have you all back after more than two years of this pandemic... Rhaetian Railway welcomes you! 雷蒂亞鐵路歡迎你們來到瑞士!
The pandemic surely set your company back! But it must also have been nice to see those places without a tourist in sight; such times will, no doubt, be sorely missed!
Hello from Singapore! I’ve took the Glacier Express on both ways to St Moritz & to Zermatt. The only tiny regret is I should have stay another night to explore St Moritz 🥺🥺 Very glad that I’ve checked this bucket list item so soon.
@@vcom2327 Precisely. The biggest and most criminal mistake the global WTO made, was allowing China entrance into the WTO. Today there are HOARDES of Chinese tourists clogging up already congested tourist areas - not to mention the profound health implications and dangers by opening up China - a country well-known (even before COVID) - as an incubator for deadly respiratory viruses - such as SARS, and lethal strains of Influenza over the years. Heck, the bubonic plague originated in the Orient and was brought back to Europe on merchant ships!
Just make sure to get first class. You would believe the mess they allow in second. It's unimaginable after seeing how neat Switzerland is. A densely packed crowd of messy tourists with a ton of bags and suitcases between them. Also keep in mind the trip is incredibly long and 90% of it is boring. It was totally worth it for me but its definitely not as advertised. And scenes shown in promos you can't see or take pictures of if you don't stick your head out, which is physically impossible. The panoramic windows also have fog and oily stripes so photos taken through are very flawed...
@@kovy689 depends how long you want to ride. I boarded in Andermatt and drove to St Mortiz (east end of the line) I see now that it's 150eur. If you go full line (which is like 9 hours) it's 270. You can see rates on the official website for online booking (just Google Glacier Express) 😊
Took this marvellous journey last Feb. and it was magical. St. Moritz to Zermatt...where we spend our winter skiing holiday. Switzerland is scenically exquisite and I'm grateful to be able to spend some time every year in its wondrous Alps.
My joy is on the highest level watching this! I'm pumped and enrrgizes! I promise to also travel through this astonishing scenery! I also promise to travel all countries! Let's gooooo. Thank you so much DW
Thank you kindly for the upload! As a self-professed connoisseur of train documentaries (that is, documentaries following railways) I am always excited when I see a new upload that I've not previously watched. By the way, some of the best train documentaries I have watched on RUclips in the past have been from DW. I admire the German's love of rail, from Siemens, which exports high-speed rail and urban rail technology around the world, to DW, which exports high-quality documentaries on Trains, as well as a myriad of other topics, around the world.
The video is an amazing documentary film....well done! The coverage of the Swiss Alps are exceptional. We enjoyed the journey (Glacier Express and Bernina Express) for the third time last October 2021 and it reminded us our great memories dating back to our first time in Switzerland as foreign students at University of Lausanne more than 30 years ago. The glacier that we have known and seen back then versus now is so sad; however, no where else on earth is better protected their environments more so than Switzerland.
Glacier Express : A picture perfect railway journey, specifically in winter season. Clean Rhine River water. Very beautiful🌸. DW's nice train journey and explained.
That depends on the type of rock. In the Alps you usually find granite, which is incredibly hard. Tunnel boring machines are generally unable to bore through such rock effectively due to extremely high degradation of the stone cutters.
Why was everything huge finished in the first 30 years oh last century? I'm thinking also of Hoover Dam and the Pentagon and the Empire State Building as well as all of these projects shown in Europe on RUclips. Good idea or not, I blush at Americans think they could not buill a water delivery system from the Mississippi to the West Coast. So the first part of our current century builds tiny circuit boards----- I think of grandpa who handbuilt so many tunnels and maybe even the Panama Canal.
Interesting. But, not a patch on some of the most scenic Japanese JR or private train lines. In comparison, the Glacier Express looks like an OK train with decent views, old interiors, and shabby furnishing.
It’s the /GLACIER Express/, not the /Glacier EXPRESS/… /GLACIER Express/ it is. Why? Because it’s a specific _expreess_ not a specific _glacier_. So you stress what is specific about it, not what is not. Therefore it also is /XYZ bridge/ not /xyz BRIDGE/.
How dare ye steal this from Tom Scott. This video title is EXACTLY the type of title Tom Scott would use for a video. Now, that's assuming of course he made this type of video in the first place, and he does. (If you're reading all this in his accent then I congratulate you for being such a nerd)
Traveling by train is probably the most fascinating experience one can have, especially through the most serene and scenic places.

Hmm, it's rather peaceful now in the Alps without the mass Chinese tourism. :-)

Right at the end your should have said "Also called Il Cervino". The Italian name is more appropriate since the summit is within the Italian border.

Anything less than 24 hours and I would be left wanting. Of course it's a different story if I can take 3 journeys in same train back to back.
What months during the year this train drive in the Alps.
Why are you making tunnel with blasting method why no TBM

Is ww3 stated or Just small war❗
We don’t know yet. With Russia you never know.
Two quarreling neighbors shouldn't be misinterpreted as a world war. Btw, has there ever been a world war?
