I wanted to share this after I completed my own CQC FTW achievement; if you’re trying for this achievement on Very Easy and have already unlocked the infinite rocket launcher, you CAN bring it to the final fight and use it on Tyrant at the heliport. This is because the rocket launcher strike is counted as a “cutscene” and NOT “in-game”. If Tyrant smacks the first rocket away and you have to fire another, that’s fine because it still counts as a cutscene.
I don’t know if this works on all difficulties, but it works on Very Easy. You can still get the CQC FTW achievement if you use the infinite rocket launcher on Tyrant at the heliport.
And Aether, this video helped me out a LOT with getting out of tight spots and doing the mandatory boss fights. Thanks!

the run overall is just amazing due to no damage, no save, etc., but what is most impressive is that you didn’t even get hurt once during plant 42 and prototype 1 crimson head boss fights with just a knife in real survival, truly unbelievable, props to you!

@@adamm6052 It's a little complex but, in summary, you need to be away from corners and objects so that the hunter will have space in case the jump grab connects. If the game thinks it doesn't have space to grab you, it won't go for the jump. You also need to be at fine status.

Using the modern controls is pretty lamer here. Destroys the balance and mechanics of the game.

Not really. More like knife only is not well designed with classic controls for no damage so it opens up possibilities here rather than just “move away and shoot” kind of gameplay. There are a lot of advanced mechanics that can only be explored properly with modern controls.

@Aether2125 You can kill everything with a knife and no damage with the original mechanics. It's designed fine. The risk/reward is positioning yourself as close as you need for critical knife shots. Because you're so close with the knife, the player has to find the right spacing and blind spots to do the most damage and avoid the next attack. Head shots with the knife are the best if you can get the right positioning and spacing for them. Also the knife ready stance pulls the player backward in the remake so that helps too. It's a little faster than walking backward.

@@MG-ng8sm You theoretically can kill everything in no damage but it’s very impractical. This run here is actually the world first of this challenge and is very difficult (there are already several rng elements). There are a lot of enemies you are unable to do it safely or it has to be way slower. Don’t forget that I’m on real survival where there’s no auto aim so you can’t turn fast at all. A simple example is the collar dog which is very obviously not well designed for tank controls without auto aim for knife only. There are a lot of other cases of similar situations. The crimson head fight is another one where on tank controls your opportunities to punish him are way more limited. The tank controls just make it more tedious and limited. This game is far more interesting in the remastered when you can explore these tight interactions with better controls.

For the knife only achievement, I recommend doing at the easiest difficulty and with the bad ending to make your life easier. This challenge was no joke. 😁

Why does only 1 dog come for you when you blow the whistle?

The second dog doesn’t get alerted if you don’t use loud weapons (guns).

@@Aether2125 I didn't. I figured out the issue though. If you leave through the door and come back they always respawn double-aggro'd if you didn't kill them the first time you entered the balcony. Oh and they run side-by-side and do an almost synchronized attacked when they respawn that way.
