My first place in Calgary was a basement and it is true winter time it was cold, I had to call the owner few times at night to turn on the heat..after few days I realized he wants to save money by freezing my ass off..so I just turn on the stove and leave it open for half hour then turn it off..hopefully will teach him a lesson when electrical bill comes.

You should know that the cost of living in Canada depends on which province you inhabit. The rent for an apartment is going to be higher in Toronto and Vancouver's regions, and possibly other things as well. Don't know haven't lived in those places. I have grown up and lived in Québec for most of my life, and here it is the taxes, especially income taxes that hit you. However, women AND men get parental leave when a baby is born. Also access to daycare is cheap.

It is so strange to see the differences between here in Slovakia (village) own house pretty large and I have to say that is common here nobody have to be millionare to afford ... and between Canadian houses. For me I am so used to this I would probably feel bad if I had to live in a small rom. When I was studying with my roommate we rent a one badroom I do not remember how it is called that type house it has several floors. It was horrible. Please don't judge me, I was born in a village it is really hard to used to new things. By the way, thank you for the video I really enjoyed it. I have relatives living in Canada, Calgary the used to come "home" visit the village from where they parents immigrated to Canada.
