Originally this movie started off as a spin off just centered on Jason Statham. I think that happened is that is what they made then they felt like hey when can just spin this into a part 4.
Unfortunately Carl Weathers passed away at age 76 on February 1st 2024 but he was rumored to have been considered for a role but that’s about Stallone through out the series had either talked to actors and they turned roles down or it was they were considered or just been a rumor. 4th movie strayed away big from bringing in older action legends like first 2 films and even 3rd one when brought in Gibson to be main villain along with Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, and Welsey Snipes. Sure some of actors didn’t want to return like Chuck Norris had retired from acting when returned for his role in Expendables 2.
There are a lot of other action guys and gals from the 80s 90s and early 2000s they could of gotten then Megan fox,Andy Garcia or 50cent, like Cynthia rothrock, Michelle yeoh, Zhang ziyi, Liam neeson, Danny Trejo or vin diesel
There is no CYNTHIA ROTHROCK, but Stallone chose to have Megan fn Fox! Stallone has destroyed this franchise trying to appeal to GenZ. There are many 80s 70s B action movie stars he could have included in this
I freakin love Need for Speed. It literally, to me picked up where the F&F franchise started with but then went on to stupidity. I own the Blue Ray and would watch everyday. The cars, the racing, the characters, idk for me it’s one of my fave racing films. Bout to watch again. You should just watch it again B, watch it. As far as this movie it also is familiar to F&F as in they needed to end it after the 2nd one🤭

Yeah, you may have a point there and I can't say dollar for dollar what the difference is 2009 - 2023. What I do know is that EVERY single review I've seen points out how cheap many of the effects look. The films pretty much just the cash grab without the effort warranted for the cash.

The film is financed on the premise, franchise and actors involved, essentially the guys get paid just to hang out as long as a product is delivered.... it's almost a free production working on that business model, the most costly part is advertising and music rights.... turning a profit on something like this series is easy... and they all always look subjectively 'cheap'
That was the premise behind the original film was bring in 80s and 90s action stars and started that way with the first two films and w even stars from that era like Ford, Banderas, Gibson and Snipes but keep bringing in younger actors like Glen Powell and in 4th with additions of 50 Cent and Megan Fox who can’t act and have nothing to do with classic action movies. The original according to Stallone was thought up by him even in 90s to just have himself, Willis, Schwarzenegger and others in that time but never happened.
Terrible film from director who ruined Hidden Strike which is marginally not as bad as this film , the story is all over the place , Fight scenes are choppy , acting wooden , CGI terrible and boring . They should of retired this crew for good

I try to watch this movie and I just have to stop at half way throwe it bcs. It is so deamn borring. And cgi's was like from play station 1 & 2 and Megan Fox 😁😄 hell noouuu ,to much cut scenes with her doing fight scenes and shaky cam. They waste Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa , you've got a be huge talent to ruin that. This movie is just horrible. Movie like this and actors like this you do simply wide shot with fight scenes bcs. This people can do they own stunts and that's what's for expendables are knowen for. They were borring and you are so right add some energy or charisma or both in it deamn it. Great review 💯
HA! Those were my thoughts exactly while watching the film. The special effects looked like playstation 2 games. I also thought the same exact thing about the new character that acted like antonio banderas! What were they thinking lol! At first I thought did they use a face filter to make him look young! They must've hiked the rates on 3rd rate special effects to blow throw all that budget because they sure didn't spend it on a script either. I can see why sly stallone quit the film half way thru it's a mockery of the franchise. I thought the same thing about Andy Garcia too lol his acting is really good and in this movie it's awful! The film felt really short because it's got like 4 locations lol it was a total cash grab that failed! Always love statham tho.
Worst effects ever? You must not be familiar with the Sci-fi channel, trust me there are far worse effects and films then expendables 4, it is what it is

Not all returned from previous films other than Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren and of course Sylvester Stallone. 4th film probably would have been better if Stallone would have been more involved behind the scenes but if would have more old school action stars instead of adding Megan Fox and 50 Cent
