- New year, new guitar project. This one is for Ivan Dečak, frontmen from Group "Vatra" ("Fire"). Throughout the video, You can hear them play on this very instrument :D .
This build spans over the period of last couple of months.. We tried to keep the wood combination from spring guitar because the sound was great but also go for a different look, black stain under high gloss polish.
The wood we used is american maple and mahogany veneer for the neck-thru core and black ebony for the fret-board and diamond tail piece. Pick-guard and battery cover is made from three layers of laminated mahogany veneer. Top of the body and head is covered with birch root veneer which really resembles small flames. fret-board Inlays are made from white epoxy. Nut is made from cow bone. For gluing we used pvac glue. After staining the guitar in black nitro stain, it was sprayed in 5 coats of polyurethane primer to fill all the pores. After each spray, the surface was sanded with 400 grit sandpaper. After 5 primer coats, I sprayed black burst along the edges, also lignum stencil was applied. After drying, 3 more coats of hard polyurethane finish were applied. For polishing, we used 3 progressively finer pastes until mirror finish was achieved. We used Schaller hardware, Fishman fluence electronics, jumbo frets and D'addario EXL 110 strings.
This was the most complicated guitar build we did so far and if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them in the comments!
Thank you for watching and don't forget to share, like and subscribe! ;D

Pretty piece of artwork that we the simple mortals never gonna have in our hands... It is the equivalent to the Lamborghini of guitars... magnificent and unreachable... Ironically, only affordable by great guitar players of all times for whom this instrument gonna be just one more of his vast collection... and nothing more.
Wow. You guys are artists. Bloody beautiful work.
AHHH that's a beautiful piece of musical instrument. WELL DONE!
Thank you very much!
That was fun to watch. Love that stop tail.
I can imagine that it's 50x more impressive in person. Great work as always.
Thank you very much John! I need better lighting to catch the details better ;)
While watching the video, I kept getting excited about what kind of guitar would be born.
Finally the guitar was made.
It's not just a guitar, it's a sounding sculpture.
Keep showing me your awesome guitar.
I've subscribed. Please do it too.or not.
have happy days.
superb guitar !!! welldone
WOW!, excellent piece of work, i enjoyed every second of that, great work guys.
Definitely guitar makers and not guitar builders. Cool guitar
That is the most well made guitar I've ever seen
Awesome guitar=awesome song
Thank you very much! Glad you like both!
Awesome!
You have a nice CNC setup!
Absolutely beautiful man
Thank you Dave!
I really dig how at the end you discover the driving soundtrack was played on this very instrument. Of course, it says it in the description, but who reads that before watching the video???
:D Thank you Chris!
Stunning!
it's just me , but personaly i wouldn't have covered these gorgeous figured pieces of wood with black paint ^^
I agree, but then I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that it looks way cooler in person and you just can’t catch it in the vid. I mean, subtle can work too.
The finish was just a veneer, so it required the paint to hide the seams. I agree that it looks better plain, but it isn't actually the wood, only a thin cover.
It’s not actually paint. They used a black stain then clear coated it
That is beautiful!
Where can I get one!??
I am very glad to watch the processes with high technology. And, of course, skills of your staff, too.
So, I would like to hear the sound, any video here? I do not think the BGM one.
By the way, was it good revealing your secrets so much on this video?
Thanks a lot from Japan.
With all your fine routing going on, you should seriously consider making an all wood inspired Eddie Van Halen Frankenstrat. That would look really cool!
I wouldnt be surprised if I tried it one day..😁
I have a doubt, this kind of bridge doesnt make a little bit harder to tune the octaves? And this guitar is stunningly gorgeous
Wow... exactly like the Ligma series
Next level : Not found!
Playing this again just for the music.
ruclips.net/video/E0yEwKOVDOQ/видео.html
so pretty !!!
Thank you Matt!!
I'm not into guitars per se, but I know a sexy instrument when I see one. Dayum!
Thank you Patrik! :D
All of that and you don't have a finishing booth?
Title should be machines build guitar. Try this by hand and you appreciate it more.
keep makin' guitarsss
Как всегда круто. В какой стране такое чудо делают?
whats the price of such an animal ?
Call me crazy, but I think it looks like if the Music Man Majesty had been in a single-cut shape!
hm, maybe I can see something there..
Except for the shoddy welding... great job on everything else. FYI, Put the MIG machine away and TIG that shit! Much more precise and clean.... 😏
Накладка на шпон!?
hey guys, have you ever thought of making a drums?
Not yet, but maybe one day.. I get a lot of requests about making drums :D
I covet your giant robotic arm, dear god to I covet it.
Seems very inefficient
looks bland and normal for the amount of effort it seems to have taken. the sound is also fairly normal for a solid body. could have 3d printed this out of ABS, slapped a flame maple veneer on it, used some basic fiberglass resin, and got basically the same result, in half the time and a quarter of the effort 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Nice guitar, but the process seem a bit wasteful. I build ukuleles, I feel I could have made an entire instrument, from the wood you turned into dust. Wood is precious.
Oh wow! Another CNC guitar video on RUclips! Such amazing craftsmanship!
I'm kidding. It's hideous and lazy.
beautiful work! makes me want to finish my reno up so I can make another guitar! :)
Yes please ! I loved those videos. But I also love your reno videos 🤗 so take your time 😁
Thank you very much Mike! Yep, there is something special in the process of making them.. :D
What is beautiful in this?? Nothing to do with real luthier work, almost everything is done by CNC machine.
I guess soon comes the day where those same machines will play guitars...
By the title, I thought it was a shou sugi ban guitar. Wasn't disappointed, though! Splendid!
Exactly the same thoughts here!
😁I planned to burn it originaly but because it was for somebody, I just couldnt risk experimenting.. I will try it once for sure..
@@lignumchannel Oh, yeah, that's a good idea! My experience is that you have a lot of control over the burn, so I'm sure you'll manage!
@@lignumchannel make it plays to Charles Berthoud. He will transforms Tapping with it an Original Lignum Song.🎶🎸 When fuse them togheter it will be vibe sound forever🎶🎸🎵 Your passion creation is pure beauty wooden Art💖
This was the most satisfying video with one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever watched!!! Thank you so much!
wow... It was like the one facing scene... where's the gantry?? The robots are a very large surprise.... never seen that before. How the eff are you doing this?? Can you control a robot with G code from Fusion?? unbelievable
if you want to blink, do it now. -kubo
I'm amazed by those robot arms! never thought that they can be used for such work... AMAZING!!!
That's very nice looking. A bit dark for such a beautifully figured piece of veneer. Really like the wood pick guard, but that string anchor worries me.
You should make a steampunk guitar!
Great idea! I must give it a try once..
How much would it cost to purchase something like this?
You can check prices on our website =)
Alright my guy...where do I buy this?
Same! Lol
Does your best buddy hold your aim straight to so you don't miss the toilet 😂😂😂😂 jeez....
Beautiful guitar! How much does something like that run??
don't know if it's okay to write in croatian so i will do it in english
where do you get your woods from?
Has to be one of the best channels on youtube. Thanks for posting great videos
Wow! I really appreciate that.. Thank you for watching!
is your wife a robot?
I love the gumby headstock on that guitars nice beautiful
Pretty nifty trick with the tape on the frets, never seen that before either...
Stopped at the cnc.
Helluva lot of automation involved. Not much manual crafting.
Holas pueden hacer la guitarra híbrida parecida a la Taylor 5?
yo I'm liking this bro. It's how you say what's up ?
As the build progressed and the layered complexity of the build kept compounding onto its self I was thinking "Holy F%*# he is going to have at this piece with a blow torch!!! I was a little relieved when the black stain was being applied. I am sure if you decide to shou sugi ban a guitar it will be amazing.
Bravo yet again. Best guitar build so far.
Question?? Have you considered building guitars full time?
I must try burning it some day.. I had a couple of shou sugi ban projects with furniture and I really love it!. And for the question, I think about it a lot;)
@@lignumchannel Re: building guitars full time. We all have responsibilities but if you can follow your heart on this subject.
I would also want to creatively prepare a bore harps.
Generic music over instructional videos is the sonic equivalent of vertical video. It has to stop. Ppl prefer the sounds even if sped up.
Well I haven't spoken a word in any of my videos yet and they all have background music, maybe it's time to change the concept..
Is the neck made to where one wants LOW string action? I personally know a guy who made awesome electric guitars with LOW string action and one can play all day without the fingers from hurting from high string action! The guitarist virtuoso I'm talking about is the same guy who is on RUclips "Omni Speaker Cabinets For the Electric Guitar"... Chuck Flanagan...The thing is I don't think he makes guitars anymore...he is involved in the Church he's going to...guitars are glued in the neck, low action and lightweight !!! Secret wood I can't say! He may see what I posted here and sue me...no joke! He made a few guitars at my neighbors house back in the 1970's...he also audition his instrumental for Don Henley's song " Dirty Laundry"... Can you guys make me a good lightweight electric guitar???
0:01 I have a hunch this one will be good :)
:D You had a sneak peek!
La lutherie est un art dont vous êtes sans nul doute ses meilleurs artistes.
The only thing that could have been better is to put black strings on it :) amazing job
Thank you! Now when you say it, black strings would be epic on it!
Super strojevi, super pedantno. Sve top. Oće li bit koja akustična ili klasična??? Može li se ako budem radija naručit u vas top bok i fingerboard? Želja mi je napravit jednu, strah me samo pragova
next: drum set. please....
One day..😁
I've got a bit uncomfortable seeing such a gorgeous wood being hidden beneath paint and lacker, but in the end still look beautiful
He says in the description that it’s stain, not paint. It would be rather pointless to go to the trouble of using such beautifully patterned veneer only to cover it with paint, wouldn’t it? Staining rather than painting it allows the grain to show through.
@@NeilAbalone I hope so
@@ragnkja You're right, but grain and contrast between layers is barely visible at least on video, but i think its all visible better if see in person
I'd assume that that flamed piece of wood + stain looks stunning in real life
The grain can still be seen thru it.. when we applied the stain, I must admit I wanted to cry, but after few coats of poly and black burst, I was so glad we did it😁
Spectacular! Such amazingly diverse skills to construct so many of the components of the guitar from scratch! Next time I expect that you will scratch build the strings as well ;-)
Beautifull guitar! One mike recording from the rehearsal room unfortunately dimm's out the drums, when I still played in a band we used a 6 input mixing console for guitar, bass guitar, vocals en one drums overall and one basedrum mike, that really lightened up the sound!
Woodworking, metalworking and great design. What's not to like.
Thank you Steve so much! :D
WOWOWO beautiful ...
Awesome ... love that you made everything from scratch... even the truss.
Really nice work!
Fallo a mano non a controllo numerico non vali niente
Why that's amazing!! 😀 Excellent job building the electric guitar!! Quite of a masterpiece!! 😉👍
I missed the part where you signed it! Fabulous work as always, it seems like you've got yourself a new line of work going on top of everything else you are doing, your guitars are honestly some of the most unique I've ever seen. Keep them coming!
I’m curious what you used to put the truss rod in? The clear stuff you used in the channel. Was it just hot glue or like silicon?
How you guys change to make a guitar, I would to order.
Hello Matt, you can send us an email through our website www.lignum-art.com
Wow! It makes you appreciate all the craftsmanship required to make a beautiful guitar.
I'm glad you like it Brian! :D
They downloaded a program into a cnc machine, where exactly was the craftsmanship?
SO BADD ASS !!!!! Killer job guys.
INSTANT SUBSCRIBER 🤘🤘
Like 3D printing in reverse.
Makes me want to Spend how ever many thousands of dollars it takes to buy all that equipment to make my own guitars
Die schwarze Beize auf dem Holz tut echt weh.
Awesome build Guys!
So amazing how much of these components you made from scratch. I half expected you to start making the pickups. Top tier as always.
C&c a beautiful thing
Very Nice
Thank you Steve!
beautiful work
Mi amigo que hermosa guitarra de verdad muchas felicidades. Tiene algún precio.
Nice Schaler gears
I have this
Beautiful guitar but...
AMAZING you blew me away when I saw you make your own truss rod!
Veoma lepo
Hvala!🙂
Love the way you made your own truss rod and the end result looks amazing but I'm not much of a veneer person, more of a solid wood person. And I'm more into hand built than CNC routed body's and necks. I think the craftsmanship on a hand built is better because you can feel the work that went into it. But owning a shop that puts out so many a year I can understand needing a CNC to keep up. But a nice looking guitar none the less.
This has been said by guitar makers countless time, again and again, but hand made is no way "better" than cnc. The bulk work is done by cnc, but the finishing touches is still done by humans. CNC is also simply a lot more accurate. It's all in your head mate...
I can't wait for the piano build.👍
Maybe, just maybe one day.. maybe.. ;)
Top I watch you with pleasure myself dream to make a guitar and catch up to make about it there are a couple of vidos about the motorcycle our Urals can look and leave a comment that I learned. So maybe you and the moto think something?
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Your motorbike is awesome!
Pickguard and front route ruined the guitar
De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum
