This is brilliant!! I've been working on my vertical sidekick since mid February, but the only progress I've made is make my hamstrings a little more flexible, whilst the leg is holding just over hip level.
I didn't realise that there were drills such as sidekick crunches to help engage the right muscles! I also didn't realise doing a sidekick split was the way to go, and always alternated between a side split and a front straddle split.
I'm gonna take these advices and get there💪
How are you doing now?
so you can perform that kick friend! you just need to practice lateral and vertical stretches! after this! position yourself inside a closed place or holding a bar! and spread your elongated legs by sliding them On the iron bar! without the support of another person your own arms and whoever holds the bar sliding their legs as if they were splitting in Sólo in 2 months of daily training of stretching on the bar! and practicing side kicks indoors where your face is close to the wall you will be able to do it perfectly! when you feel you are ready to do it! stand in front of an opponent hold the Dobok And perform a side kick like this "Slowly raise your knee! to the chest without pulling your opponent! so that he does not bend him and only a support! Raise the knee then stretch to the east are of the leg thus elevating your leg above the face! even without Tocalo! after 1 application do it without holding the Dobok!
I can kick like a lil over my head level then i just gave up and came here 💀

Thanks for this video. I used to do gymnastics and do full splits then moved to taekwondo and kicked close to that. But once I was 18 and started working I didn’t have time to do that stuff. And since it’s been awhile I’m not able to do that kick now. But my goal was to get back to being able to do it again.

Perfect lesson practice
Haven't trained in martial arts in years but I would like to get more flexible. I can do front splits but not box splits. I can axe kick with my right leg no problem but the other side is less flexible. I can only side kick slightly above my waist.
Best video on developing flexibility! Definitely going to give this a go!

Hi Simon Scher here. Yes there are lots of great sistretcher drill for inflexible people. The sistretcher is actually most effective for people who cannot get into positions to get leverage for effective stretching. If you check out my sistretcher tutorial or my sistretcher routine number 1, all of the stretches can be done at varying levels and ranges. I have an animated tutorial about wheat exactly happens in your body when your stretch that might be useful

Full side split is not enough to be able to do 180 side kick, but we need to be able to split with the base foot turned. This makes not of sense! Thanks for this awesome tutorial!
